Weather around Labour Day?

Hi everyone,

I wasn't sure where to ask this on the other boards, and I also wanted a "Canadian" perspective re. weather because what some might think of as cold would seem balmy to us, and what others think of as comfortable might be way too hot for comfort from what we're used to.

We're thinking of going to WDW for 5 nights and coming back on Labour Day, so we'll be gone from Aug 29-Sep 3. Has anyone else travelled around that time? Was the heat okay? Was it rainy?

We've travelled there in late October and also in mid-May, so we're not sure how we'll handle the heat then.

Thanks for any input.

Julie

We've been at that time and sure its quite hot and humid but nothing you can't handle. You can almost set your watch by the 4pm thunder shower that lasts about 15 minutes.

Hello!

We were there from Sept. 5-11 this past year, and it was HOT. It was so hot that we had to go back to the room for the afternoons. It rained occasionally, but not for long, and it helped cool it down. It was GREAT in the morning and in the evening, but the afternoon was the perfect time for an indoor nap or a visit to the pool!

Make sure to stay hydrated and find all the air conditioned spots! :goodvibes

This year it's going to be perfect weather :goodvibes - not too hot, not too cold, and no hurricanes or bad weather - that's my story and I'm sticking to it - I have to believe that b/c my brother chose vacation time this year and we'll be cruising from August 19-26 and at Disney from Aug 26-31.

It's still going to be in the 80s-90s but not as hot as July. And still very humid.

I was there last year at the same time. It was quite humid. I would guess about 30 degrees each day. It rained everyday for about 15 - 20 minutes so be sure to take your rain ponchos in your bag.

I've also been to WDW in May, late October and early September. I have to tell you, I much prefer May and October to September. When we were there in September it was very hot and humid, it was overcast most of the time with occassional rain. We try to avoid Disney in the summer if we can help it, it's much too hot and humid for us, but everyone's tolerance level is different.

One advantage is the crowds are low during labour day since most of the kids are getting ready to go back to school.

I"ve done this time quite a few times. Two years ago it was near or at 100 degrees two of the days. However, we were very lucky not to see the rain during "rainy season". Amazing and very lucky.

Years earlier we had what was a typical of this season. It starts off one way, then changes five minutes later, rains hard, then sun, the suddenly clouds are back. Lots of thunderstorms. It's interesting to see the variation in a 24 hour period. Also, watch that sunscreen if you are white or pink!!! I've had on sweatproof, waterproof and SPF 30 and still got burnt during this time of year.

This is what I do this time of year. I try to do parks later in the day/evening and hang out in that 10-3 or 4 period of the day. But then again I'm a lazy vacationer anyway.

You know what works well. Take a washcloth with you when you're out. Wet it at a water fountain. And put in on the back of your neck. It's a must have for Florida in June - September.

Also, there is nothing like summer nights in Florida. So that is the trade off.

Have a wonderful vacation,

Lisa
