We are planning at staying in Cocoa Beach for a few days before our cruise, including New Years Eve and day. What can we expect the weather to be like, and does anyone have any suggestions for "things to do" in Cocoa Beach in late December/early January? Most likely we won't attend any public New Years parties, as we want to limit our chances of picking up "The Bug" just before our cruise, but we want to have as much fun in Cocoa Beach as is humanly possible otherwise. :). Suggestions?

Kennedy space center is the biggest attraction there.

Temps in late December usually in the 70's, but it can be warmer or much cooler. Definitely check the weather shortly before you go.

I agree that the Space Center is worth a visit.

Lots of great outdoor activities in the area - the Canaveral National Seashore is beautiful as are the Merritt Island and St. John's Wildlife Refuges. There are companies who over boat and kayak tours in these areas. There is good fishing available both off the shore and at sea.

The Cocoa Beach Pier is a nice place to stroll or fish and has some bars and restaurants all with outside seating.

Up by the port, Grills and Fishlips are both pretty decent and you can watch the cruise ships leave while you eat.

Many people make a visit to Ron Jon's surf shop.

The Brevard Zoo is small but nice.

I also recommend a drive down the coast on A1A to the Fort Pierce inlet. This will take you along Florida's barrier islands and could include a stop at the Vero Beach resort.

We love Cocoa Beach! We just wander. Up and down coast. Walk at the beach. And Ron Jon's. Lovely place to relax before a cruise. Kennedy is a fun place to visit as well.
