It's pouring here today, would it be alright to wear a nice pant suit instead of my sleevless dress to an eveing wedding? DH isn't feeling well, so I'll be going with DS. It's a fancy sit-down.
What do you think?

I always wear pants suits to weddings.

Unless the invite stated black-tie it shouldn't be a problem. Heck, I have been to a few weddings lately that people have shown up in shorts and t-shirts.

Have you SEEN how people go to weddings and other formal events now a days?? Trust me you might be OVER Dressed. Do not worry about it. Just dress it up with some nice acessories.

I agree with the other posters. People wear "whatever" nowadays to weddings. I think that our society has lost knowing what is, and is not appropriate attire for certain occasions. Maybe because we are losing the generation who held those ideals high.

However, I don't think a nice pant suit is inappropriate for an evening wedding, just dress it up the best you can with accessories, etc., like someone else said. You could also gage it according to the type of people who will be attending... are they high society types or just regular folks. If they are high society, then you could see a lot of the guests dressed to the nines.

I don't "do" dresses.. Last time I wore one was to my DD's wedding (and believe me, I had one heck of a time finding something that I felt was both comfortable and flattering)..

I would be wearing the pants suit - no question about it.. ;)

You'll be fine. Wear your outfit confidently and then dance like this guy

I live in the Deep South, and I've noticed people are wearing dress pant suits to weddings even here (where tradition is everything! ;) ).

The last wedding I went to even the Mother of the Bride wore one. I personally probably couldn't bring myself to do it, because I would be afraid my southern ancestors would turn over in their graves (but my mother would wear one in a heartbeat! :rotfl2: ).

I think it's a classy look
Enjoy yourself!

THAT guy is awesome! I love him.

He reminds me of my BF in a goofy kind of way..

And definitely wear the 'trouser suit' (as it would be called over here!) - especially if you'll feel more comfortable in it (you only look good if you feel good).
