Wearing Dresses in the Parks??

Is it difficult to ride certain rides in the parks if you are in a dress? My friend's niece wanted to wear her Alice in Wonderland dress and her snow white dress to the parks for a full day of enjoyment. She is old enough to ride all of the roller coasters and such and plans on riding them all. Will the dresses be a problem on any rides? Should she reserve the dresses for a specific park or two?

thanks!

I didn't have a problem with the rides, but everybody was starring at me. The kids kept saying "Look at that man Mommy, He's wearing a Princess dress". :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :happytv: :woohoo: :dance3:

It took me a couple of reads but I finally got that. I am not sure about ride restricitions but I think she should wear the dress at the Magic Kingdom

Well, she's got two princess dresses and then she just likes wearing dresses in general, so I'll bet she'll want to wear them as much as possible at the parks. They are about knee length. There aren't any between-the-leg-bars on rides that would be an absolute problem? or anything like that at all?

what a riot!

No. They don't have a princess dress in My size. :rotfl:

I did see several girls in dresses. As I understand most will change into something else after their "Big Meeting" with the Princesses. You may want to bring a change of clothing.

No problems that I can remember. If you think you might have a problem, bring a pair of shorts to put on under the dress.

I'm not a very prim and proper girl, so when I wear skirts I always wear those spandex shorts underneath, like cyclists wear. That way, if you happen to ride something that isn't dress friendly, there's nothing to worry about. Plus they're so close to your skin, there are no visible lines, it's like you're not even wearing them.

My daughter wore her princesses dresses all of the six days we were in WDW. She never had a problem, well, except when we got wet on Splash Mountain and she was itchy. She LOVED wearing her dresses everyday (she is 7)!

My Ddwore her princess dresses and had no problems. I would suggest that she wear sneakers with them and not dress up shoes....I have actually seen people let their daughters wear them to the parks and I can imagine the blisters they must have gotten.
But any way my Dd loved when some of the cast members came up to her and asked for her autograph.

On my trips back in the 1970's, my mom made DSis and I matching A-line dresses out of Disney themed fabric and we kids (we were roughly 3-6 years old - it was a couple of trips) did just fine. Mom even made us matching drawstring purses to go with our dresses.

my girls usually wear dresses at wdw (not princess ones) and we've never had any problems. They just prefer them because they're usually cooler, and more comfortable than jeans and such.

Thanks so much everyone! I'm sure she will be thrilled to be able to wear her dresses. I might even wear a few myself! They are much cooler than jeans would be.

Thanks everyone!

I noticed that a lot of the princess dresses I bought for my niece (after Halloween clearance) have a bit of a scratchy crinoline underneath; some have also a little attached 'slip' that is below and next to the skin to avoid that scratchiness.

So I plan to sew a little soft layer underneath the crinoline on the ones that don't have it. I can't imagine having that rough netting next to her waist and legs all day!

Indeed! That would be quite uncomfortable

My wife is originally from Lafayette. She thinks she may know you. :rotfl: Just kidding (about knowing you).

:rotfl2:

You guys are all riots. My daughter wore her Cinderella dress at MK. What I did is we had ADR's for 11:30 for CF and I took her dress with us in my disney bag and just before the breakfast we changed her into it. After the breakfast we changed her back into shorts and I carried the dress in the bag for the rest of the day. It was easy and made my daughter very happy. No crying and no tantrums. :lmao:
