Wearing a face mask and shield in the airport’s?

I wear glasses so that wouldn’t work for me.
Me too. I plan on taking my glasses off my face and wearing them around my neck and wearing the goggles in flight. In the event of an emergency the glasses are at hand for me to put on in order to have perfect vision. The eye protection is very important to me.

I bought goggles for my husband and myself for our trip which starts tomorrow. His are designed to fit over his glasses and fit perfectly. Mine are smaller because I don't wear my glasses all the time. ( and they are cute and pink )

I did see 3 or 4 people of our flights in July wearing shields in addition to face masks . I say do whatever makes you feel safer and more comfortable. Most of all I wish you a safe and happy trip!

I work in the airline industry. As offered, do whatever brings you comfort. Nobody will think Twice about it. Many of our passengers are supplementing with shields.

We leave in a few days for WDW and were going to wear face shields and Kn95s (don’t come for me- you can find FDA authorized ones online now) on the plane.

We’re flying United and they aren’t blocking middle seats so both flights to/from Orlando are packed. Nearly every single seat has been sold and we will have someone sitting next to us. So I’m going to go with the super cautious approach. The way my mom put it was, yeah covid might not kill you but it sure would kill your Disney trip if you caught it on the way there and got sick right away. Moms know best because that spooked me enough to get all the gear. 😂

The face shields I found on Amazon are attached to safety glasses rather than the strap around the head so a bit more comfortable. Can’t hurt right?

ETA: Also, I obviously don’t recommend United right now. Yikes! I had a
ton of flight credits from our canceled Disneyland trip so that’s why I picked them and I have regrets after I saw how packed our flight is now. Oh welll!

We wore safety glasses for additional eye protection, but my more cautious daughter wore a shield as well. As most have said, most people don’t wear shields, but you do see them. I don’t think a hazmat suit would get so much as a second glance these days :confused3

If you want to wear a face shield then do it but it really is overkill and there’s a reason why they require a mask but not a face shield.

If it was really spreading on airplanes and airports then more crew members would have gotten it by now.
One person’s overkill is another’s safety precaution.

Most medical staff i’ve Encountered since the pandemic began & even ride operators at WDW wear face shields. The science is there for the practice being employed.

Have flown times since end of May. My experience, each flight increasingly observe more face shields but less gloves.

Nor should it. People likely have more pressing things on their mind during these times than being the fashion police.

Do what you need to do to feel comfortable.

That being said, I wear a face shield over my kn95 at work during specific parts of my day. Practice wearing it at home before you fly. I was shocked at how different the experience was when I added the face shield. I work in a school as a SLP, so these were not part of my world prior to fall.

We wore face shields in the airport and on our flight out to Orlando- didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. I got the kind on amazon that attach to safety glasses so they’re not wrapped around your head. My son is ten and he did great wearing a face shield and a kn95. Such a trooper!

We flew two weeks ago from Buffalo to Orlando and back on Southwest. Between both of our flights, we did not see any crew with a face shield on. We saw two passengers (a couple) with a face shield on in addition to the mask. No one batted an eye about, so I wouldn't be worried about what others think. Face shields are definitely in the minority, but I don't think anyone would be surprised by it.

I have been wearing these when I fly, paired with a KN95 mask. Not sure it’s all necessary, but better safe than sorry.

They are crystal clear and feel similar to eyeglasses, so much that I’ve forgotten that I am wearing them. They also don’t mess up your hair or interfere with a hat, and they tuck easily into a bag. I’ve been carrying them into the parks too for use in cramped indoor spaces like certain queues (or for getting stuck near someone practicing questionable compliance).

The vast majority of people flying do not wear eye protection, but there are always some who do. Enough that you won’t feel strange doing it. In my mind, the eyewear may help in some circumstances, and it certainly doesn’t hurt anything. Do what makes you feel comfortable and enjoy your travels! :thumbsup2

we flew just yesterday and almost 1/2 of the people we saw had both a mask and face shield

I'm flying November 28th and will be wearing a shield with KN 95 mask.

I just ordered face shields for my 78-year old mom and me for our upcoming trip. Better safe than sorry. I figure we'll at least wear them on the plane, in the airports, and on the Magical Express. Maybe even on the Disney park buses. Maybe in the parks too, who knows?

Saw a lady today on the morning news from LA that was wearing a white disposable zippered suit over her clothes along with mask and face shield.
