We Won't Let A Head Cold Stop Us From Enjoying Disney Dining! Dec 11 Dining COMPLETE!

I don't think I've ever gotten teary-eyed reading a dining review. Thank you for sharing!!!

For our fourth day in WDW we had a full day at HS planned and my dad woke up feeling a lot better and ready to tackle the day. We were up really early and so we actually made it to HS before rope drop to partake in TSM madness. Oh my gosh that ride is just so crazy impossible to ride now. We got pushed and shoved all the way to the TSM Fastpass machines and then we rode Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror a few times before the park started to fill up. We then realized we were getting pretty hungry, so I decided to introduce my dad to the splendor that is Starring Rolls Cafe.

I started out with a vanilla iced coffee.

This was nothing special, but hey, it's caffeine. :hyper:

I really wanted to get the Red Velvet Cupcake again because it's too delicious for words, but then I spotted a holiday cupcake and I figured, why not! When else am I going to be able to try the holiday cupcake?!

P1000276.jpg

I had no idea what flavor this would be, but it took me complety by surprise. I think it was some sort of gingerbread flavored cupcake with buttercream frosting. Here is a picture of the inside.

P1000277.jpg

It was fantastic! It tasted like Christmas in a cupcake! I demolished the entire thing.

My dad went with the Butterfinger Cupcake.

P1000275.jpg

He raved about this! He said it was the best cupcake he ever had!

Another successful meal! I am so glad that my dad is enjoying the food here. It always makes me happy when someone else develops a love for something that I love too. It was the same way when I first started bringing DH to WDW. He didn't even want to come the first time, but now he wants to come to WDW for vacations all the time! I think the same thing might happen with my dad.

After a few more rides and shows we wanted a snack so we split a soft pretzel from the cart outside of the Great Movie Ride.

P1000305.jpg

So, what did you have for breakfast today Jeri? A Cupcake. And for lunch? A soft pretzel. :lmao: Hey, it's vacation! Don't judge me! :rotfl:

Up next... Sci-Fi Dinner!

Hey-no judging here! That's my kind of breakfast and lunch! :cool1:
Loved your Rose & Crown experience.

What a lovely story! Glad a humble sausage roll was able to lift your Dad's spirits :)

Hurray for Lee! (All the best people come from Leeds, I would know....:thumbsup2)

Can't wait to read more!

After riding Tower of Terror a few more times (my dad is obsessed!) we were off to dinner! I made early dinner reservations at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater in the hopes of then heading to Fantasmic afterwards.

P1000320.jpg

We arrived a few minutes early for our 4:15pm reservation and we were seated within 5 minutes. We were taken to a car right up front and we sat in the third seat behind a family of 4 in the front 2 seats.

Right away things were kinda weird. Our carhop asked if we had a camera and when I said yes he told me to fire it up. I thought he was going to take our picture in the car. No. Instead he walked off with my brand new camera and told me he was going to get a picture of Mickey Mouse for me. What?! :confused3 I then saw him walking over to other cars while holding my camera and giving other people instructions on when to take a picture. A minute later he came over and gave me my camera back along with the picture he had taken.

Uh, okay. The way our server went about this whole thing was very strange. I could tell he was trying to do something unique with the people he was serving, but the way he went about it was just sort of wrong. It's one of those "you had to be there" type of things. My dad was kind of annoyed by the fact that he took my camera away from the table and was very perplexed by this guy. He was confused and thought that this was all a part of it and that we were going to have to do odd things during the meal. Not off to a great start.

Our server came back and took our drink order. My dad got a boring Diet Coke, but I got an Oreo Cookie Milk Shake.

P1000310.jpg

The first few sips of this were great! It had a strong Oreo Cookie taste, but then after a few sips it became kind of flavorless. I dunno, maybe it was just me.

For our entrees my dad got the Rib-Eye Steak with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Red Wine Sauce.

P1000313.jpg

He liked this and he ate all of it, but he said it was nothing special.

I got the Angus Chuck Burger with Cheddar Cheese, Bacon, Mushrooms, Lettuce and Tomato. And no Cucumber Salad for me. French Fries please!

P1000315.jpg

This was good! It was just a cheeseburger, but it was a good cheeseburger and I was really in the mood for one, so it hit the spot.

For dessert I got the Red Velvet Cheesecake.

P1000317.jpg

This was so good! There was the red velvet cake on the bottom and then the cheesecake on top with the crunchy toffee bits on the side of the cheesecake. The cheesecake was then covered in a white chocolate shell and then it was drizzled with raspberry sauce. Here's what the inside looks like once you crack the shell.

P1000318.jpg

Yummy! I'm glad I didn't get the Red Velvet Cupcake from Starring Rolls earlier in the day, because this was just as good, if not better. You can also see in the first picture that it came with a glow in the dark bracelet, which I rinsed off in the bathroom since it was sticky from sitting on the raspberry sauce, and wore it to Fantasmic. Bonus!

My dad ordered the Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake. Warm Chocolate Cake with a creamy Peanut Butter center with vanilla ice cream.

P1000316.jpg

My dad and I both share a love of all things chocolate peanut butter and I have ordered this delicious treat in the past and loved it, so I knew he would too. And he did!

This was our bill at the end of the meal.

P1000319.jpg

Cute touch! I definitely come here more for the atmosphere than the food and that certainly adds to it.

Our server was very prompt with everything and was right on top of our refills, but he was just sort of odd. Maybe I just wasn't getting his "humor" or something. The other people in our car didn't seem to thrilled with him either from what I overheard.

After eating here almost every trip for the last 8 or 9 trips I think I'm ready to take a break from Sci-Fi for awhile. The atmosphere is incredible, but the menu isn't knocking my socks off anymore. They really need another good TS restaurant in HS in my opinion.

Now we're off to Fantasmic!

Up next... A yummy late night snack!

Can't wait to read more!

Wow, that's cool that you're from Leeds too! And it's true about the sausage roll. Sometimes it's the little things that mean the most.

Exactly! Your dad deserved this experience after all he was struggling with on this trip. :wizard:

He really did deserve a great trip! He's so great with my mom-mom and does everything for her. He needed some relaxation and some good food!

Your reviews are getting me SO pumped for my May trip!! Thanks for taking the time to do them, they're great!

I agree with you about the need for better options at HS. We usually end up going to the boardwalk for a late dinner on our HS day.

shame your Dad was ill. I love the story about the sausage roll - glad fellow Brits came up with the goods. :goodvibes:

I'm enjoying your FR, I teared up when reading about your dad. It's great that the servers went out of their way to make your dad happy especially since he was feeling down.

Loving the pictures of snacks you have enjoyed so far... Even showed them to dd and dh -look what you can get with snack credit! where did you find that mickey pretzel in MK? I think I see one wih my name on it in the near future!:lmao:

Love the sausage roll story! So sweet! That red velvet cheesecake looks amazing. I think I will be having both that and a butterfinger cupcake at HS in just a few weeks.

Immensely enjoying your reviews! Glad you and your dad had a great vacation.......

We're going to Sci-Fi on our next trip. I usually get the chocolate/peanut butter cake and I REALLY like it....but, now I'm wanting the red velvet cheesecake, too! Hmmm.....decisions......decisions.......

Thank you! Our Rose & Crown experience was wonderful! So many great memories!

I think that's exactly what I'll start doing on our next trip. There's so many great options in that area and it's only a boat ride away. :thumbsup2

Brits are awesome! :thumbsup2 Even though he was sick he still sucked up every last ounce of fun he could. He really pushed through.

Love your reviews and pictures! Glad Dad is feeling better :)

Thank you! As soon as he gave his cold to me he felt a lot better!

Thanks so much! :goodvibes The Mickey pretzel was in Frontierland. It was across from Country Bears and then down just a little bit more toward the Liberty Square area. There were a few different food carts in that area, so I had to really search for it, but it was well worth the search!

I hope you do get to have both! They were fantastic! Hope you have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

Thank you so much! We really did have a great trip!

I usually get the chocolate peanut butter cake too, but for red velvet cheesecake I had to make an exception. Just skip your entree and get two desserts! Problem solved!

After our early dinner at Sci-Fi my dad and I went to see Fantasmic (which he loved) and then we rode Tower of Terror two more times. My dad was pretty exhausted and I so badly wanted to go see the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, but I didn't want to make him walk all the way back through the park. He insisted that we go anyway and I'm so glad he did because it was amazing! Here's a few pictures for you.

So cool!

After that it was time for the park to close, so we got on a bus and headed for Pop Century. Once we were back at the hotel I realized that I was kinda hungry. It had been awhile since dinner. I wanted a snack! I didn't really want anything sweet. Savory sounded better. I was looking at all the options and as soon as I saw them I knew what I wanted.

Chilli Cheese Fries!

P1000352.jpg

I grabbed a soda too and headed back to the room to enjoy my snack! These were really really good! There were beans in the chilli (which is how I like it) and the fries weren't too soggy from all the cheese and chilli. Perfect! It was a huge portion too. I couldn't finish it, but my dad was more than happy to eat the rest of them for me. These weren't a snack credit by the way. I had to pay OOP for these, but they were worth it.

Now we need a good night's sleep since tomorrow night we'll have to sleep on the train!

Up next... My last Pop Century breakfast of this trip
