We weren't SUPPOSED to plan a Disney trip this year!! Oct 23-30 *TR to come soon!*

Love your costume ideas!! Saw DH's pic on FB and he looks awesome! Can't wait to see your dress when it all comes together!!

Quick update - over the long weekend, hubby and I did some shopping for his Swedish Chef costume!

He actually already had the hat, and the bow tie - so we just were looking for the shirt, and the apron. We got lucky, and found both...for great deals as well! Ended up spending < $10 to put this together. :woohoo:

He couldn't wait to show everyone how it turned out - so here's the picture! Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Thanks a lot hon! I need to get to my mom's house so I can borrow her sewing machine, and I need to wash the fabric before I start cutting it, and then I need to spend some serious time trying to figure out the instructions...but maybe I'll get to start working on the dress this weekend or early next week. Fingers crossed!

Your DH makes a great Sweedish Chef :thumbsup2

Also, I think the dress will look great when it's all done. I can totally picture the final result, or at least, what you're hoping it to look like  I'm sure it will turn out awesome :goodvibes

You guys are all so sweet :)

I now have my mom's sewing machine in my possession, and I've put my fabric through the wash so it's pre-shrunk. Now comes the hard part, haha!

Amazingly, we're now down to 44 days left! Time is quickly flying by, so I've really got to get to work on this dress ASAP!

BIG NEWS!

We just switched resorts! I'd been checking every day to see if anything else opened up. As I've mentioned, I'm not totally against the idea of Caribbean Beach, but 1) I liked the idea of having queen beds found in the other moderates, and 2) I'd heard good things about the theming and style of Coronado (more "classy").

So for weeks I've been checking, and for our dates (in the free dining promotion) there hasn't been any mod availability (other than Fort Wilderness). But this morning, I saw Caribbean Beach show up, and then also Coronado! What a surprise!

I wasn't 100% sure we'd be able to switch, since we're past the 45-days and we've paid in full, but it wasn't a problem at all. So we now have a standard room in Coronado Springs! This will be another first for this trip - the first time either of us have stayed at this resort!

Anyone else stayed at Coronado before? I'd love to hear your comments and suggestions. Thanks!

Yay for your resort change!! :cool1: I think without kids Coronado Springs will be a better fit for you guys. I have friends at work that stayed there last year and loved it!:thumbsup2

I haven't been there before but I will be right before you!!!

I'm happy you were able to make the change!! I actually book King rooms at the moderates as while we like to be close we like our space too! :rotfl2:

Thanks guys! I'm so excited about the change!

Well, DH and I are heading out for a weekend away - heading back to our alma mater for Homecoming, combined with visiting DH's Grandmother who lives in the area. Should be a fun weekend.....but I'm quickly running out of time to work on my costume! I made a quick trip to Joann's last night because I already realized there was stuff I forgot, including I had gotten the wrong amount of fabric (oops) plus I needed to pick up a pair of fabric scissors. And that's as far as I've still gotten.

The week we get back, I hope to at least: figure out what size pattern I need to use, and get the fabric cut. A bonus would be if I can get the sewing machine all set up (much easier said than done) and ready to begin sewing. I'll post an update sometime next week!

Have a great weekend everyone! :wizard:

Wow, did I ever miss that post!

Anyway, the CSR is awesome!!! :thumbsup2 I'm so happy you guys get to stay there!!!

The food court is different from when I was there, but almost all of the CM's I encountered at the Pepper Market weren't very friendly. That's the only negative thing I can say about the resort...everything else is wonderful (including the other CM's that work there)! The theming, the rooms, the Maya Grill, and even the gift shop!

People will tell you it's a large resort, and it is, but if you can make a request to get near a bus stop, you won't notice it much at all. Our walk to the main building, El Centro, was maybe 5 minutes or so...we were in Cabanas 9B (I think)...it's in my TR. We walked around the lake one night, and it took maybe 20-30 minutes round trip...and we were going slowly and taking pictures.

The buses were great, and the longest ride was about 11 minutes, so it's pretty centrally located.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the info!! I'm so excited about the switch :thumbsup2
I'm not 100% sure what building I'm going to request yet, but I was thinking Casistas 4. I like the idea of being at the first bus stop. We definitely don't care about being close to the pool.
I'm glad to hear you had good bus service. I don't think I'll mind the large size at all. Most of all, I'm excited to try a new resort!

Hello all! Time for a very quick update!

We're down to just 20 days! The biggest thing I have left to do is I still don't have my costume made! Yikes!!

Well, I tried to start working on it last night, and of course nothing went right. The only thing we successfully accomplished (yes, we, it took some serious help from my husband) is getting the sewing machine set up and threaded.
However, I wanted to start cutting out the patterns...but I realized that I bought the wrong size pattern. Great. They make it sooo confusing...they sell a "smaller" size pattern and a "larger" size pattern, and each one has a list of sizes it's supposed to correspond to. Well, I take a size 12, so I bought the smaller patter which said sizes 6-14. However, when I got started, I realized that the pattern sizes in NO WAY correspond to actual sizes. Based on my measurements, I needed a pattern size 20! I could care less about whatever number they call it - but it's just frustrating, I started working with the wrong thing, and now I need to go back to the store and buy the other size pattern. Very luckily I overbought fabric, so I have enough.

So, it was a very unproductive evening. I'll have to swing by the store tonight, and hopefully I'll have a better update for you soon!

Thanks for all the info!! I'm so excited about the switch :thumbsup2

We are the opposite! I really want to be near the Dig Site as we love the hot tub after a long day!

We're back! We got back yesterday, 2 days later than expected due to being delayed by Hurricane Sandy.

I will absolutely be doing a trip report, and I'll post the link as soon as it's started.

Overall we had a wonderful, but exhausting (as always) vacation. Can't wait to tell you all about it...

Welcome back! Glad to hear you're home safe, despite the delay. Can't wait to hear the details!
