We were selected to do Canadian random covid test, here’s how to get out of it.

They send you an email. You are only subject to it if you arrive by plane. In the email are the instructions for making an account on myclear and then there are only certain drug stores where you have to be tested at filling out paperwork at the pharmacy

We arrived by plane and were notified shortly after going through customs. The email had a number to call. Since we were leaving on a cruise the following day we did not have to test, but they want me to fill out a form online when we leave.

This happened to a friend. She did an exemption. She called to get the link to do the exemption.

Really?! I thought the reason that people were flying into Seattle and taking a bus or driving to Canada was to avoid that random test.

Note that this loophole is likely only going to work if you are leaving on your cruise within 24 hours. If you are spending a couple of days in Vancouver you’ll need to do the test if selected.

No, more likely they are doing that so that they can cruise with a birth certificate if they are having issues getting a passport for their kids.

Most people saved money by flying into Seattle. Flights into Vancouver from the US can be extremely costly since it’s an international flight. And will come through an international terminal to accommodate international travel requirements.

It may also be that up until April everyone entering Canada by air needed a test and everyone returning to the US by air also needed a test. Many people cruising now likely made their travel arrangements back when everyone travelling by air needed a test and some may have chosen to cross the land border to avoid that.
