...we just can't find anyone who can tell us WHERE WE GO to pay some of these taxes. And they are apparently "pay in person" rather than mail.

The School and MUD taxes are the two we can't locate.

Anyone have any clue?? How do you find out *where* you go to pay your taxes??

My taxes are paid by my mortgage company. It's part of my mortgage payment.

My Excise taxes I pay at city hall.

Call your county government office or your City Hall - they should be able to tell you.

You can pay your school taxes at the ISD Administration Offices in most school districts in TX. When we had a MUD we could pay it at the MUD office or the County offices.

I would give them a call and ask.

You might want to make sure that those are receipts not bills. Most mortgage companies require an escrow account for taxes and insurance.

We were able to opt out of escrow, so those *are* bills rather than receipts. But thanks for the thought! That would have been annoying if it had been receipts instead of bills!

Thanks all, that's given us a place to start. We found the phone number for the chamber of commerce, so I have DH trying to track it down from there.

What is MUD tax?

Uhhhh... I think it stands for Municiple (sp?) Utility District? Not all places have them.

Usually it will be the county government office. In our town the School & County taxes are done by one county and the city taxes by another. Our deed wasn't filed right so we didn't get a bill for the city taxes and I thought they were all paid until I got a delinquent notice mid-summer. You might want to double check with the county & city to make sure you are covered.

What school and MUD are you needing to pay, Tammi? I work in the property tax field and might be able to get the addresses and/or phone numbers for you. I'm leaving work in a few minutes though so might have to get back with you tomorrow if you don't find out before then. And I'm sure you already know that tomorrow is the last day to pay without penalty!

If you were still in Brazoria County everything would all be on one bill. ;)

Well??? Did you get your property taxes paid? You have about 22 minutes before they become delinquent. Unless you run out to Intercontinental and get the envelopes postmarked before midnight. But that's only if the jurisdiction accepts postmarks. Most do in Texas.

Our taxes are handled by a private tax assesor but if we call the township building they tell you where to go.
Mortgage companies not always get the bills, mine has an escrow account but the bills come to me and I mail it to them, the reason is because once the mortgage was sold to another company and the bill went around for three months unpaid without us knowing it. We always mail it and they pay it on time.

We're in Galveston County now, and DH was able to find everything but MUD and DISD taxes on his own. We did finally find the addresses, thanks! :)
