Has anyone stayed at Regal Palms? How is it? How far away from MK is it? We'll be driving from Atlanta so we'll have a car. Our kids are 4 and 7; this will be our first trip to WDW with them... We're trying to do this within a really tight budget and will bring lunch with us into the park... We want to do the Nick hotel too, for a night... any idea on how to get a good deal there???
TIA!
Ruth

We have stayed several times at Regal Palms. The pool area is very nice but can get crowded at busy times of the year...like any other pool really.

It is quite a bit further out from Disney if that is a concern. I'd say maybe 20 minutes? And at times the traffic can be pretty heavy on Route 192 which is traffic lights galore. If you decide you would like to stay here, I can PM you the name of the owner we have used in the past.

Don't know what you are expecting to pay there, but you could also stay at Bonnet Creek Resort which is on Disney property but an offsite hotel since it is not Disney owned. They have 2 lazy rivers, a couple of other pools..one with slide, free mini golf, kids activities.

The units here are hi-rise villas...2, 3 and 4 bedrooms. You can rent them for about $120 a night including all taxes through vacationupgrades.com if you book within 60 days of arrival.

If you can afford this, I would recommend it over Regal Palms. The management is better and the location cannot be beat! The commute is the same as any other onsite hotel and much shorter than Regal Palms. It is a beautiful resort. There are also tons of threads on this board about it.

Hope this is helpful and that you have a great trip!:)

I was looking at the exact same thing not too long ago! I thought I had narrowed it down to Regal Palms and Liki Tiki.

For Disney parks daily, neither is the best loction. In the end we booked at Bonnet Creek (though vacationupgrades.com). You can get a 1 bedroom for $100 per night through him.

We have also stayed at the Nick hotel. It was VERY busy and although my kids loved the characters, they didnt utilize the slides. etc. Just too many people there! (and my kids are the same age as yours!). I would keep Nick for just one night. Sometimes they have specials on travelzoo. And, closer to arrival date, sometimes expedia has deals too. (we got a room during easter break last year last minute for a very good price on expedia).

Have fun with the planning!

How do you find hotels in the Orlando area with lazy rivers? We only need a room for 4 people for 1 night, 8/6, but would love good pools &/or a lazy river. It doesn't need to be near anything b/c we are flying in on 8/6 & then from 9/7-8/14 we are at our timeshare which is close to all the parks.

Ones that I can think of:

Oops- that should of been Omni at Championsgate
Bonnet Creek- Wyndham
Regal Palms

I see someone already mentioned the Omni but I wanted to add that they have a beautiful pool/lazy river area, an adult pool and even Camp Omni for the kids plus I have seen many specials for $99 a night. We bid through Priceline and got it for $76 per night.

Just last week the kidsuite was $99 +tax on expedia there. If that is where I wanted to stay I would have booked it. I looked tonight and it was back up. So...I would keep checking the sites mentioned such as travelzoo and expedia; especially since I found that rate last wk.
