When we went to WDW on Jan 7t we decided to upgrade our current AP's to PAP's using the discount. When the CM finished the transaction she said the difference would be 5.05 per ticket. A I took out the $20.20 from my wallet she hands me 20.20. I received the money back on the tickets!!! So by changing my tickets I actually received a better deal.

What a great surprise

Wow! Money back on an upgrade! Can't beat that! Thanks, DVC!

What about if I have an annual pass which I purchased in October 2004. If I upgrade will I get a discount and receive money back as well?

Oh Wow!!!

I need to hurry up and go back before Eisner wakes up!

I have two AP vouchers that I want to upgrade. Thanks for posting!

We purchased the AP's in October and redeemed them at WDW. So if you purchased them around that time you may get a credit also

:scratchin .....huh....could someone help me by listing the math on this one?

Here's a link to Deb Will's site AllEarsNet.Com. It shows the costs. It makes sense if you look it over.

A regular AP costs $420.68. A PAP with DVC discount costs $415.35. Therefore you get roughly $5.00 back per pass. A great deal.

But if the pass was purchased back in Oct - wouldn't that have been at the rate before the price went up in January? i.e. not at 420.68 but at whatever it was?

That went through my head too but I was using the current price as an example just to show how upgrading could actually save you money. gmboy95 was looking for how it could be. I was just giving one since I don't know what the price was back in October when the AP were first bought. But then I got to thinking that maybe they base the upgrade on the current price and not what you originally paid?

I was planning to upgrade my AP to PAP, as well. I have one nagging question. What happens at the time of renewal? Can I only get a renewal discount on the same type of ticket? In other words, if I upgrade to a PAP, will I need to get another PAP at time of renewal, to get the renewal discount? Or can I go back to a regular AP at that time?

I read that if you purchased your tickets from Disney prior to Jan 2nd, they will credit you at the current price of AP's and MYW passes. If you purchased through a resaler then you get the discounted purchase price the resaler paid.

My AP vouchers are the ones from the SSR 130 pt add-on promo, so those would be considered purchased from Disney which is great news. Thanks for doing the math HBC! Yeah!! I can upgrade to PAP's!

We are PAP holders and plan to renew in August at the DVC member discount. It sounds like the 2 AP's I got for the add on will be credited at full value. Barb

One more question, I hope , where do we go to upgrade? Our passes are from May 04 and are leaving in less the two weeks (yikes :earseek: ) and will hopefully upgrade.

I renewed an AP in Nov. I upgraded to a PAP last week and it cost me $15.00.

Of course I did it at guest relations in downtown disney and they acted a bit confused. Am I owed some money?

Ha! We arrive on 3/3 and my AP expires on 3/4 - guess there will be no upgrade for me! :D

However, DHs just started in Dec. We are planning on a BB visit this trip so if it doesn't cost me anything - I think I will upgrade! Ah - unless of course that would make me have to renew it as a PHP.

We also activated our APs in October 2004. We will be returning to WDW is August 2005. Is there a way to upgrade to a PAP before our trip, or do you have to upgrade at WDW?
