We Tried Child Swap but Ended up with the Same Child (March 2016) Updated 9/11 JTT

Following along! Wish you'd gotten to keep your June trip (for obvious reasons), but am excited to be able to live vicariously through another mid-March trip, since we were there at the same time as you last year.

LOVE your Christmas card, and the sweaters put it over the top. It sounds like you need some new friends. Just kidding! (sort of... ;))

I remember that you were there last year too. So were we:) I really like that time of year. The weather is nice, but it does limit the length of the trip since it's during a school holiday. Next family trip will probably include a 7 day cruise, so it will be during the summer. Are you still going in May or June?

We have some nerdy friends that appreciated it. It was mostly family that thought we were weird. What was really funny is that my mom and step-dad loved it though. They didn't recognize the Contemporary, since they have never been to Disney. However, my step-dad is a total geek and loved the SW shirts. Before my mom and he got married, he and I used to watch Star Trek: The Next Generation together, when the episodes were new. DS loves hanging out with them, because they like Star Trek, Star Wars, and Dr Who:)

Following..we leave in 19 days for a split trip to hard rock & grand Floridian!

Hard Rock is great. I think we want to stay there every time now. The GF is beautiful. We have eaten there several times but never stayed there. Some day maybe.

enjoyed reading about your trip. thanks for posting!

Thanks for reading.

the title pulled me in, and I'm definitely gonna stay! loved the Christmas card, too.

As for your luckily avoided potential drama on departure day -- I live in the DC suburbs, and work in DC, and at least once a week someone is late somewhere, and the excuse is "Sorry, motorcade".

The horror!:) I can't imagine. However, I bet DC is way better at dealing with it than our local PD and commuters.

So agree on the March weather! Last year was beautiful. Yes, we're still going in June. I just started a PTR yesterday - I am behind with planning! I'm glad you had some folks who appreciated your photo!

Joining in. Great sweatshirts! I've wanted that monorail set for 10 years now! Totally jealous.

Thanks. I got it for DH for Xmas one year. He's into trains, and we love the monorail. I want to add Spaceship Earth, but it kind of just sits out there. Last year at POR I found Pixar characters for the monorail, so we have a bunch of them now.

That really is the worst travel day ever, if that were me I would have been freaking out. I'm glad it went ok for you guys though.

OK, time to move over to the Universal report!

Luckily, we knew in advance that things could be bad. So, it allowed us to plan and avoid any problems. I feel bad for people that didn't know.

How did I not realize you started your TR?!? LOl I'm here now!
I'm gonna start the WDW portion of my TR soon too...

I've always wanted to try The Salt Lick - I see it on TV on those travel and food shows and it looks amazing! Glad you were able to dodge the presidential traffic. Off to a good start!
Can't wait to read more!

If I can't be at Disney World, I can live vicariously through trip reports. Let the Magic begin! :earsgirl: And I, too, love your trip report title.

Oh, I could not resist that title

LOVE your Christmas family photo!

If you are ever in Austin, you have to try it. Actually though, it's not our favorite BBQ place. Our favorite is west of Austin in the Hill Country. It's called Coopers. It's very fabulous.

Looking forward to reading more! I like the Christmas pic by the way. :)

Thanks. Glad to have you along.

I am living vicariously through my own trip reports until our next trip:)

Thanks. I was pretty proud of my self:)

I think I might have an affliction:( We just booked a 7 night Celebrity Cruise to Southern Caribbean for our 20th anniversary in 2018. We had been talking about what we wanted to do for it, and for grins, I just looked at their site. Before I knew it, we had booked a trip:rolleyes: It was a good deal though. It was cheaper than our 7 night DCL Western Caribbean cruise that I booked last week with a verandah room, but the Celebrity cruise is a Sky Suite. I am already planning a WDW/Universal trip in July and a Grand Canyon trip in August of this year and Big Bend in Spring 2017. We also want to do WDW and Universal before the cruise in summer 2017. 2017 is also a milestone birthday year for me, and my birthday falls on or very near Food & Wine and the half marathon, so we have to go to Disney for that;) I was also thinking that the break from July of this year to summer 2017 is too long to not be going to Disney or Universal, especially since we have annual passes for both now. So, I sort of booked a hotel for the week after xmas, including New Years Eve:sad2: I would have already booked an Alaskan cruise on Royal Caribbean or DCL for summer 2018, but thank goodness, neither of them have those schedules out yet:scared: We also want to take DS to Chile, where my DFIL is from, sometime during an xmas break (their summer), so I was thinking xmas 2018 would be good for that. I am sure I will have to figure out how to get to WDW in 2018 too. It's a sickness:(

Marking my place. I'll be back to read but I am so behind on everyone's reports, including my own.

I'll go along with everyone else- great title!

Love Universal and the Hard Rock, so I can't wait to read about your experiences there.

:wizard:

Congrats on the new cruise!! I'm excited for all the trips you have planned! It sounds like a very busy next 2 years, but that's a good thing when it comes to traveling/Disney/Universal!

I am really looking forward to it. The cruise goes to Antigua. I have been wanting to go there since I was a kid. Duran Duran (I know. This dates me.) shot several of their early videos there. I always thought it must be the most beautiful place in the world. I am also looking forward to trying Celebrity and staying in a suite. I might get spoiled.
