And it’s currently 9:17am and we are sitting around in the airport waiting for our 2:00pm flight.

I could have totally booked the 11:30am flight (I checked for available seats on earlier flights and there is nothing unless we want to pay $$$).

Our morning was totally flawless. Breakfast at 6:55am. By the time we finished eating and used the restroom, we were cleared to disembark. Basically walked through luggage collection and customs and on to a Disney bus. On the bus at 7:45am, bus departed at 7:59 and arrived at the airport at 8:50am. No traffic. Security wait is 6-10 minutes (we are looking at shops and chilling before going through security).

We didn’t check any luggage and checked in on the airline app, so no wait there either.

MCO transport leaves the minute the bus is somewhat full. It’s great.

Well, I had a similar situation. At MCO by 9:15 am, in the security line by 9:30 am, RUNNING to my gate and walking right on my 12:35pm flight because it took until 12:15 to get through security. I will never book a flight from MCO before 1 pm.

MCO can be the worst. It's the entire reason why we got TSA pre-check years ago. It has improved a little though. I don't like to push things either. I would rather sit around the airport relaxing for a couple of hours than worrying that I am going to miss my flight, or actually miss it.

We had planned on a leisurely lunch at the airport before our flight. THAT didn't happen.

agree with you both
our last flight from MCO the security line was 85 to 95 minutes
we ran to our flight also

Oh, we’ve had some doozies out of MCO - that’s why I was so surprised with how flawless our departure day was! :)

We eventually made our way through security around 11:45am and it took under 10 minutes. And our flights home were flawless as well … we even landed about 10 minutes early at our final destination. The only snag we had all day was the wait for the shuttle to our offsite parking when we got home - and even that was just a minor nuisance.

It's so nice, and downright shocking, to have a good airport travel experience these days. Glad it was a good one!
