We Strapped Sea Turtles to Our Feet! A Summer of Sea & Shore - 11/13 x3 FINISHED!!!!!

Yes, any way you spin it, seeing a giraffe outside your window is super cool! Now you have me rethinking our resort. (No surprise there, right?) :lmao:

I love that carpet as well -- I smile every time I see it.

I'm cool with having a giraffe outside my window any time. We loved our AKL stay, and we definitely plan to do it again. We didn't look out at giraffes from our balcony, but we looked straight out at the pool. Like your boys, it was hard to pry ourselves away from staying out there enjoying it.

Cute picture of the boys and Dad heading out to eat. :goodvibes

Yes a giraffe outside your room is amazing!!! Definitely makes AKV a must do for me in the future! I would so love to stay there some day!!

Now to somewhere I have stayed before Boardwalk!! I love that resort!!!! So beautiful!!! You should stay there sometime I know you would love it!!!

OOH Blue Zoo...can't wait to hear about your meal there!!

all caught up! I admit when I saw you went to the WL pool I was surprised you didn't go to the new one at the fort. They were building it when we stayed at the cabins so we never got to try it but it looks so cool! I'd love to camp there actually but the logistics of getting gear from here to there to do it seems a bit crazy! :rotfl: It would be fun though.

Impressive that you packed up, checked in at AKL and still made it to BB by 10!

Great update. So glad you posted, because I remembered I still hadn't seen your cmaping/BB pictures. I just love all the pictures of your boys - too cute! I especially love the ones with them eating marshmellows. That really looks like a ton of fun.

AKL is my favorite DVC resort. I just love it there. Something about the animals and the peacefulness of the place. It's really meditative for me.

I, too, am hoping to try BWV. I am going to try to change part of my June ressie to stay there for three days. We'll see.

BlueZoo - YUM!

A final night at AKL is just perfect!
I love your view.
I'm so excited about staying at Kidani for the first time next summer.

In reading a few other posts, I realized I had missed a whole page of updates. I think it was my subconcious purposely skipping those updates, though, because that's the day you didn't get to meet up with us and jeremysdisneymom at Wilderness Lodge, isn't that right??? :snooty:

;)

Looks like the boys had a blast spending the day in the water, though. :cool2:
We have not taken the girls to either water park yet. There has been discussion of Jill and John taking Brooklynn for a day this summer while Bella and I have a day to ourselves in the parks. We'll see how that plays out. Since we don't have premium AP's, it would require an out-of-pocket cost, and that's probably just over a hundred dollars for the three of them for what would probably be a half day activity. I'm betting that it won't happen, but in about another year or two, they will both be able to enjoy it.

Anyway, sorry I missed that set of pictures. I would like my Fort Wilderness camping to be done in a nice Airstream, I think, but I know those boys loved the tent camping. :thumbsup2

Yes a giraffe outside your room is amazing!!! Definitely makes AKV a must do for me in the future! I would so love to stay there some day!!

Um, Jen.....
We are staying at Jambo.
1 br club level next June.

I love AKL! I could set and look at the animals all day. And the detail in that resort is amazing.

Can't wait to hear about Blue Zoo.

Hi everyone! Back I am, hiatus AGAIN!!! :sad2: Boy you really are not going to trust me after this TR!!!! What a peculiar fall, what a busy one it has been!!! Sheesh!!!

Well so here we are, on our way to the BLUE ZOO!!!! I love this time of day... so pretty...

Summer2011660.jpg

Photo is of nothing particular, but the light, I just love the light!!!!

Summer2011661.jpg

So, here is dinner...

Summer2011663.jpg

DS 6 & 9 completely absorbed in Angry Birds, and DH and I enjoying Crab Nachos, Rock Shrimp Tacos, and two rounds of cocktails, AND boy did we feel like neglectful parents!!!! :rolleyes1 BUT everyone got what they wanted for that hour and a half!!! The boys got to play on our phones... not an everyday occurence, and we got some time to enjoy our favorite restaurant in Disney! Can I tell you I was so excited to be back at the Blue Zoo when I was back in Disney last month!!! :yay: Anita, Megan, and Michelle!!! GOOD TIMES!!! :goodvibes

Summer2011664.jpg

Random photo!! Cool decor in that restaurant...

So after our dinner, we strolled over to the Boardwalk, and bought a pizza for the boys. We hung out on the Boardwalk, they ate Pizza, we enjoyed the entertainment, and it went by perfectly!!! Perhaps even more perfect was the fact that the BlueZoo was able to give me a Serenity Cocktail in a TO GO cup... so believe me, I really enjoyed my Boardwalk Jaunt...

I love strolling across from the Swolphin to The Boardwalk. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how Disney music is piped in from the impatients... :rotfl: SOME where in all those pink flowers is that speaker :lmao: I think Christmas time is best, hearing Bing Crosby waft through the air as you stroll by... has me thinking of Christmas already... :santa: Can't wait to do the World again some time.

SO... after Pizza and a few Boardwalk acts, we headed back over to Cali Grill... NO, not to eat again  Thought a pizza did cross my mind!!!! :rotfl: Instead we were heading up to see fireworks! They told us we could come back to see them with our receipt, so up we went!

Now, having just been back to see the fireworks in person, these photos just DON'T do Wishes justice, but, at the time, it was ideal!! :goodvibes

NOW A BIG WARNING!! My photos of Wishes on this trip are terrible!!! :lmao: they are all really blury! Usually I can get a few good ones, but alas not this time!!! I think it was because my batteries were low, not sure, but the camera was acting strange, the shutter seemed to be slower than normal. Not sure why. BUT I still took them, so I am sharing a few!!!

Summer2011672.jpg

So after Wishes, and basically after a really full day! We headed back to the AKL... the boys got cleaned up and in bed, I went to stroll the lobby for a few minutes, but was ready for bed myself!!!!

Next POST!!!!!, our final morning and afternoon at the POOL!!!

Perhaps my favorite reason for staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, is the opportunity for a beautiful morning stroll. While I really like the other resorts we have been fortunate enough to stay at, I think that the AKL grounds are most beautiful, and the best themed, and give you something to actually explore and enjoy. I got up this morning, went to work out, then with my refillable mug in hand, coffee in the morning a must!, I took a stroll...

Summer2011712.jpg

Such a pretty place!!! I didn't take a ton of photos, again, I have lots of them already! But this is one of the first times I have actually walked out here and looked around in the quiet...

Back to the room I went, and we worked on packing up. I took the boys down to get breakfast, DH was going to kick it there at the lodge, do a load of laundry, exercise, and start packing the car... SO, the three of us headed to DTD...

Summer2011720.jpg

Summer2011719.jpg

THIS was our destination!!! LOL!!! I knew I would be back, so I didn't need to do any shopping.. I had been on the cruise ship, had been to the Market at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, so this trip to DTD was quick. Get to the toy store, and get out!

Summer2011722.jpg

Summer2011723.jpg

Summer2011725.jpg

We bought a new Dinosaur for DS6 and a couple new Cars2 figures, and DS9 decided on a book and a couple Star Wars figures.. OF course we stopped at Goofy's... :rolleyes1

We hopped the bus back to the AKL, getting off at the Kidani stop. DH had packed the car and moved it to that side of the lodge, and we grabbed our swim bag... And to the pool we went! DH actually read some in the lobby, since we were driving back that evening, and he enjoyed that immensely. He didn't want to get too tired being out in the sun all day. The last time we were at Kidani, that would have been in November 2010, when we were in Disney for our quick getaway and MVMCP, I commented about how much I loved the theming at this pool... I cannot say enough about it....

Summer2011734.jpg

Summer2011736.jpg

Summer2011739.jpg

Here is the splash zone...

Summer2011745.jpg

Hmmm... what is going on up there...

Summer2011746.jpg

Why that is a very big bucket of water...

Summer2011747.jpg

And I think I am about ready to get wet!!!

CONTINUED IN THE NEXT POST!!!!!

YEP. That about SUMS it up...

:rotfl:

Summer2011749.jpg

Summer2011750.jpg

I just love all the detail and theming here... I took other photos back on our Christmas quickie trip, but it really is a beautiful area. I recommend it for anyone with little kids in particular!!!!

Summer2011740.jpg

I couldn't get any slide shots, simply because I wasn't going to risk taking my camera over there!!! BUT I do have a waterproof camera, now, so you can bet I will be doing that more often!!! :thumbsup2

ALAS .... my final Tangerine Dream... Something I definitely missed in October!!!

Summer2011757.jpg

So another nice feature at the Kidani pool is the fact that they have a fabulous exercise area and a nice roomy changing area. Complete with a shower room, so you can actually bring all your things in there, get cleaned up, and have room to turn around!!!! LOL!! So I dragged my pool rats out of the pool, gave them a shower complete with soap, etc., and got them dressed in clothes for the trip home. It was nice to get showered and cleaned up before we had to take off... I was able to do the same b/c DH met me at the pool side, and finished loading the pool bag in the car, and then we went to dinner, our final dinner at Sanaa! We hadn't been back to this restaurant since the summer before, so that was a treat. I really love the food here, and the kids menu choices are good!

Summer2011758.jpg

And here are the boys at dinner...

Summer2011762.jpg

Summer2011763.jpg

After eating we wanted to spend a little time out in the animal viewing area... I think this is one of the nicest areas ...

Summer2011766.jpg

CONTINUED in the NEXT POST!!!!

Kidani always seems to get lots of animals, I wonder if they just have more over in this area... not certain, but I am never disappointed in the viewing opportunities! :goodvibes

Summer2011783.jpg

So as you can see in these final shots, the early evening was upon us, so alas we needed to start our drive home...

Summer2011785.jpg

Summer2011786.jpg

And yes, we got in the car, we headed out, I didn't take any further photos, but I just wanted to get my eye's feast in, my last few glimpses, because I knew it would be a while! However, as it turned out, not too long, because I was fortunate to go back to Disney just last month, with some special friends of mine. I was so glad to have had that opportunity!!!:goodvibes

I really cannot wait to go back with my kids... SUMMER 2012 cannot get here soon enough!!! OF course, we have a cruise next week, and probably some other Disney magic up our sleeves, but who knows!!!! If we get another snow storm... you know where I am going!!! LOL!!!!

ANNUAL PASSES come in handy!!! And, as of October , I have one!!! :yay: :yay:

NEXT POST!!!! Souvenirs!!!!!:thumbsup2

So, in addition to the souvenirs I bought on the cruise, (which I posted earlier on this TR) I also got a few other goodies... first, as you know, I always buy stuff to fill goodie bags for the next trip, whenever that might be, and this year was not any different! When we spent Christmas at Disney, back in 2009 (WOW... it is so strange saying that!!!!! Should I be surprised, or ... ... ??? :santa: WAHHHHHH I miss Disney Christmas!!!

Okay, I am digressing this morning, clearly!!!

ANYHOW, when we were there that Christmas, one gift we bought the boys were these nice revolvers at the POTC store... SO, three years later, they are completely a wreck, so I bought them new ones, and these they will get on the cruise... I think they will take better care of them, They certainly took a beating, the past few years!!!

Summer2011796.jpg

Here is my SECOND "towel with purchase" LOL!!! And I bought a large shampoo and conditioner for the boys... I love bath time now!!! :rotfl: A new CD, which isn't as good as the Four Parks One World CD, but I still like it! :thumbsup2, AND a couple candy bars for the goodie bags...

Summer2011797.jpg

I also got another replacement key chain from the AKL... I have been through a lion, a giraffe and now my hippo... the lion came off when I didn't notice, the Giraffe came unraveled, and now my Hippo, who seems more sturdy... which makes sense, give that he is, well, a Hippo... :lmao:

OH! AND I also bought a 40th Anniversary pin :lovestruc

Summer2011799.jpg

OH! And here is my Vero Beach magnet! I thought it was too cute!!!

Summer2011800.jpg

Gee, everyone. That. Is. It.

TA-DA!!! I finally finished this EPIC TR!!!! Sea and Shore! Who would have though it would have taken me so dang long!!! OF course we had a lot going on between then and now, vacations to other locations, Disney F&W in October, the start of School, AND our FIRST snow of the season, over, of all holidays, HALLOWEEN!!!

But, I can say, I finished in the nick of time, because indeed as of Friday we are flying down to Florida for a week long cruise on THE MAGIC!!!! I hope you will join me for that fun, just hop on over! The link is in my signature... or will be... :rolleyes1

:lmao:

Thanks again for sticking around! :grouphug: I have lots more fun to report on, including a fabulous GIRLS trip to the F&W I took just a few weeks ago... when we get that TR up and running, I will be sure to post the link here as well!!! TTFN!!!! :wave2:

Nice photos of AKL.. I've always wanted to stay there and it's definitely on my list!! :thumbsup2

Cruise next week!! yeah!! lucky lucky lucky!! Have a wonderful time! I'm in MD too as you know and I am SOOO ready to go to Disney tomorrow!! 80's!!!!! I am tired of this cold weather already and its not even really THAT cold! :lmao:
I'm a Floridian.. :rotfl:

Love the update..AKL is on my bucket list of places to stay.

It is really one of my favorites... It is hard to say no to once you have been!!!!

:goodvibes

I know, it really is beautiful and a pool view is pretty cool too!!! :thumbsup2 It is so pretty and peaceful there. We were ready for dinner that is for sure! Blizzard Beach really works up an appetite!

Oh you'll love it at AKL for sure!!! I am looking forward to trying out Boardwalk for certain!!! :thumbsup2

all caught up!

We really wanted to be somewhere we were familiar with, and I wasn't really thinking about the pool there, b/c I didn't know what it was like at the time... I think since we were not making a day of it, and I knew about the bar at WLV, it made it easier!

Oh, we normally probably wouldn't have been so efficient... but sleeping outside doesn't exactly lend itself to leisurely sleeping in!!! Trust me, we were all chomping at the bit to get to the water park, And taking down a tent is always faster!!! LOL!!!

It took a while, I know! BUT finally I am done! And I am woefully behind everywhere else!!!! I agree 100% about AK. SO lovely. :cloud9:

BWV seems like a good spot for us in February before the cruise. So if we go then, I don't think we will do BW in the summer with the boys... still entirely on the fence, but we still have time!

A final night at AKL is just perfect!
I love your view.
I'm so excited about staying at Kidani for the first time next summer.

Yep, it was a perfect ending to an EPIC trip! You will love it there as will your nephews! And new niece! :goodvibes

In reading a few other posts, I realized I had missed a whole page of updates. I think it was my subconcious purposely skipping those updates, though, because that's the day you didn't get to meet up with us and jeremysdisneymom at Wilderness Lodge, isn't that right??? :snooty:

;)

Oh I have been power updating!!! I have to get this dang thing done, and I finally did today!!! STRESS relief!!!

YES, yes yes, you are right!!!! :sad2: That was the day! It was so busy and I wish we had made that work, but I was so glad to meet you in person last month!!!

:thumbsup2

I would say this was the best age, and next summer would be better... you still have time for your girls are even younger, and I would say the $ wouldn't be worth it until they are bigger anyhow... I think it was a great day for us finally, because they both could enjoy it, but are just now growing into it... more in the next few years I am sure. :thumbsup2

OH Airstream ALL the way, MeMom, you and I BOTH!!! I want one of those when I retire!!! Then I will go work at the Fort!!!!

I love AKL! I could set and look at the animals all day. And the detail in that resort is amazing.

Can't wait to hear about Blue Zoo.

It was so beautiful!!! ARE YOU TOTALLY EXCITED!!!! I AM JUMPING OUT OF MY SEAT!!!! Just a few more days, right??!!! :yay:

What a great last day of your trip!

The water play/pool area at Kidani is just amazing.

I have added one of those keychains to my souvenir list for next summer. I have a bird made of wire and beads that a student brought back from South Africa. I think I need a matching keychain for my home and school keys.

Fantastic trip! Thanks so much for sharing with us.
