Hi friends!

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the responses yesterday to the latest update ... I had a ton of fun reading through them all last night once I got home from work.

I wondered if I might ask a favor of everyone?

A dear friend of mine just found out this weekend that she has a brain tumor - she had a seizure Saturday morning and that's how the doctors discovered it and now she's having surgery today to remove it. The good news is that they are 99% certain that the tumor is benign, but she's looking at about five hours of surgery today and I was hoping everyone could spare a little pixie dust, or good vibes, or prayers ... whatever belief system you may subscribe to ... and send them her way.

Hello again. Mom's surgery went well. Everything is going as planned and is going good. Please put a post for my Dad on the Disboards. Thanks for your prayers!

I'm so glad everything went well in your friend's surgery, Brenda. There is nothing like the fear you feel when someone close to you is sick.

And just in case you need a little chuckle today, I'll add a couple more names to the "that's just wrong" list:

Friend of mine was interviewing a mother regarding a child abuse report, asked how to pronounce the little girl's name.

Mom: Pa-ja-may (phonetic spelling).
Friend: That's interesting, where did you hear of it?
Mom: In the Sears catalog. Isn't it pretty?

The child's name was Pajama.

This same friend of mine went to school with a girl named Crystal Leer. Middle name was Shanda.

I have seen boys named Air Jordan and Nike. A baby girl named Miata (remember those cars?)

Rather than cooking a turkey (which I don't really like anyway) we're having cranberry stuffing stuffed turkey breast (thank you Dean and Deluca) with some traditional fixings ... sweet potato mush, vegetable melody, apple pie, pumpkin pie ... I'm making cinnamon ice cream right now and then I'm going to poach some pears in port wine and chop 'em up and bake little tarts with blue cheese and drunken pears tomorrow.

They have wood panelling & every turkey plate ever made by man (well looks like it anyway) plastered all over their walls. So kitchy....but fun!

Ohhhhhhhh....love Hart's!!! My DH was born and raised in that area and we still spend a great deal of time there. We were just "home" for a visit in September and brought back our usual stash of Hart's carrot relish. DH and our grown DD love that stuff. It's a must to serve in our home before dinner on Thanksgiving. Have a great time!

Brenda, watch out for the cranberries!!! They are so notorious for hurting our poor damaged bladders that those of us with IC call them ACID BOMBS. Do you have any Prelief (dietary supplement that helps to neutralize acid in food)? If not, taking a few Tums can help if you consume something too acidic.

We had that... one of my friends asked her SIL what she could bring and she said the Turkey... & then kept all the left overs too...

Thankfully I didn't have to supply the turkey! LOL
We never get leftovers because 1) dinner at my SIL's the turkey is provided by my MIL who wants the leftovers and 2) we usually travel the next day anyway and are gone for 4 days and 3) the turkey at my mom's house is usually used up in those 4 days.

So...I buy my own turkeys when they are dirt cheap and make them later.
