We never stay at our home resorts - can you trade out with DVC?

We own BoardWalk and Beach Club points. Stayed in both of them. They are nice, but can't compare in our eyes to Old Key West. When we bought, BoardWalk was brand new (ditto for the add-on at BC). We have learned over the past few years, that we should have gotten in on OKW. Since we always stay at OKW, it pains me to pay the dues for BW and BC.

Anyone with experience in this area? And if it is something that can be done, will it cost more in the long run to trade?

Any info would be appreciated!

You have to sell your contracts and buy OKW contracts subject to ROFR and everything. If you find somone willing to trade without a broker(12-15%), you still have to close each contract for $350+ each.

I would say that the cost of this transaction would not be made up for with savings in dues for a very long time, possibly not even during the life of the contract.

But I would do it anyway, really, just for the peace of the eleven month window.

Thanks for the info. I am seriously considering it. We'll be down there in April. I might call Rolin (our sales guy) and see what he can do for me.

Another thing you might do is to find an OKW owner that would prefer to stay at your resorts and you could book a ressie in their name, and they in your name. Giving you both, in effect, the 11-month window. There would be a lot of trust involved in that type of agreement, though.

As for me, I'm not trading :)
