We have about 75 days to go.... My boys are SO EXCITED! I had to drape the chain over our entertainment center. The boys take turns removing a link each day. This is the first time I've done this, and it really does make waiting more fun!
We did our first this year too. We started at 100 links and it was so long. We draped it over the doorways to two of the bedrooms and a bathroom. We're down to 48 days now and it looks so small. DD has begun to lose interest in it but I'm faithfully taking a link off of it every day. I'm more excited than she is!
I did one as well as a countdown calendar for our Disney Cruise. I had the girls make the calendar and in each square, the drew a picture of something they wanted to see or do. It made the counting go faster. I think we started it at 60 days...
My boys are going to stay with their grandparents next week. I can't decide if I should send it with them, pull the links off myself, or let them do them all when they get back. They really love it! I think having to take turns makes it more exciting for them. I'm glad I didn't do 2 links for each day! But next year I'm not starting before 50 days out!!
We made ours at 100 days too and it hung all the way around our hallway door. It now drapes just over both sides and it seems like just a few days we hung it up! It has really gone by fast!
We ALWAYS make countdown chains!! Helps my 4 yo understand how long we have till special events. We made ours this year at 65 days and it hung down the front of the clock, up to the curtain holder and down. Now we are down to 3 more links!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It went so fast, I thought that chain would never shorten! LOL
I never thought of using the Mickey heads! Thanks! We just made ours with colored construction paper. I think we'll do Mickey next year. Do they say anything to you for taking so many???
I made a countdown chain with colored construction paper. On each link, the boys wrote the name of a Disney character. They LOVE taking one off each night before bed! The only problem.....it's not getting short enough quickly enough!!

We made a count down stack........ we dated mickey heads and stacked them together. The kids were really into it at first, but now have lost interest. I guess I should make them into a chain, or have them do it to get them back into it again!
We can put things on there... like the 2 year old getting her cast off. I was thinking she might go to Disney with a cast on her wrist, but it will come off before that! Then we have some birthdays in the family that we can put on there. I think that will be my project today!
