we leave on sunday and part of the freeway is gone!

we were planning on taking I-15 all the way. Then the flood on Monday destroyed the road.

My daughter in St. George had to drive this on Tuesday, she had some students flying in to the Vegas airport. It took them 5 hours to get there from St. George -- but that was the day it happened so it might be better now as I think they have restricted the larger trucks.:confused3

Good luck!! Our local news in SLC is reporting that they should have one lane open in both directions on I-15 tomorrow. I used to work in public relations for a couple of different departments for the State of Utah and I can't even begin to imagine all the headaches Nevada has right now. ."
Thanks! were going to keep checking on it, and leave as early as we need to to get past the traffic. my cousin is leaving for DLR on friday from slc, and driving straight through, so ill know more after that!

Please let us know how it goes! :)

As of this morning when my mom's boyfriend left, I-15 is still closed. They are still detouring through the Valley of Fire and it adds approx 2+hours to the drive. They are ONLY allowing passenger cars and trucks. No utility vans, trucks pulling trailers, boats, RV's etc., those are being detoured through Enterprise through St George with all the Semi Trucks.

They have reported that one lane is open each way in Moapa, where the road washed away.

yep, opened! they drove through with no problems or delays, but that was also at 3 a.m. this morning. we leave tomorrow for mesquite, and will be leaving as early as we need to, in case there is traffic :cool1:

We drove through (coming back from CA to UT) on Saturday. We went through that area in the middle of the day, and only had to slow down to 55 mph in the construction zone. Never had to go any slower than that. There was one lane open in each direction. They are still rerouting northbound trucks, but all other traffic can go through. I was worried we would be sitting in traffic for a long time, but there was no stopping or slowing at all. :thumbsup2
