Our first trip was Oct 2004 3 days with MIL and SIS and kids. Had so much fun but noticed being with others was kinda a let down, wanting to go to different places with different age kids... so DD and I ran off a while alone... AND that was it- we were hooked, doing Disney, dancing in the streets and just running here and there was a blast! When we got home, I booked what would be our first Mother/Daughter trip... 10 days Dec 29 2004! Yep 2 months later... we had the best vacation ever! That trip led to another Nov 2005 10 days... this trip the weather was cold and rained Our flight home cancelled and we had a bit to get home from that one. We still had loads of fun, but it left us kinda disappointed.

It took us till now to get the fever again... and we got it full force... here is where we are now. I wish I did reports for the other trip, so this time I want to capture the magic of planning and anticipation! DD comes on the board, so I hope she will chime in too!


I really want to try and capture this trip planning and pre-report this time! Here is the first post from another post

I actually broke the news the DH that I was wanting to go again! (This would be trip 4 since Oct 2004) He doesn't do WDW and usually it is me and DD(12), but this time, I think DS (21) can actually make it too! It would be the most dream trip for me to go with both my kids at ages like this! Now that DH is ok with it... I have gotten past step one. Hmmmm could this really happen?? I am so excited at the thought.. that my stomach is doing flips!

Well... DS is thinking he can't do more than a couple days... so I am thinking... can we get him there for a couple days??? He won't really know till it gets closer, with his job and stuff, hard to tell what deadlines he will have then. Sad but I haven't lost hope on him yet.

As far as me and DD going... oh well that is a no brainer! We are sooo in! But got to get a date set in order to feel it is true!

Ok, now to think about the whole school thing. WAAA DD going back to public in Sept, after Private school never giving us a hard time taking her out for 8 days... Public school website has yada yada about Doc note after 5 days... hmmm this is gonna be a challenge! I DO NOT take to not being able to decide when and why my kids miss school. I AM THE PARENT not some school. Oh no I am getting mad already LOL!!!

I am not sure what dates to do yet. I am looking around for info as I have never been in Aug ... but man the site is slow sometimes!

Although ds can't make it this trip, I am hoping he can do the next one....

DD and I are booked!!! we are going in hot Aug, the 23-31 just can't wait!!!!!!!

alright... so after all that drama! I decided on AUG in order to avoid a new school problem and to keep open if we want to go next during the school year next Arp-May. SOOO booked flights on Delta... price was decent considering the gas troubles we are having. 257.00 RT non-stop/each.

The biggest player in this trip was getting the free dining! That is what made me choose the date and made the trip possible this time. We are so excited!

Everyone is talking about the AUG heat... and /or hurricane season yada yada .. UM hello, we know the drill, we are well imformed LOL! These just are not DISNEY people LOL!

I do have to get trip insurance this time. I have to look into that still, better safe than sorry.

We pulled out our theme park music CD and have it going all the time now! We are talking up all we hope to do and are so excited to be going back!

I made all my TS ressies! YAY! I have more to add later about how we do our trips.

I want to keep up with posting...

Can't wait to read all about it. I visit WDW with my DM as my DF doesn't do Disney. We always have a fab time.

What a great idea! My mom and I have gone many times (sometimes with my DS when he was a little younger, sometimes with other members of the family, and sometimes just for us!). We've only been doing this over the last 10-15 years or so, but we always have a great time! And we both love WDW.

August can be hot (sometimes brutally) but if you plan right (those misters work great and stops back at the pool or just relaxing in the air conditioning help). I've been there in July/August many times (especially when the kids were in school) and although we've experience those pop up rain storms that happen occassionally, we've never had hurricane issues. We've had some of our most memorable times when that rain pops up and we walk around immediately afterward.

No matter what, it's WDW and you can't have anything but a great time!!! The hardest part now is waiting!

Glad you got your dates down. WI has a new policy about starting school Sept 1, no matter what. Well Sept. 1 is on a Friday and they don't want to send the kids to school 1 day, so school starts Sept. 4 this year. (Go figure). We used to start Aug 20 and get out by Memorial Day, now we go way into June. Hope you have fun on your trip.

Well DD and I sat and watched the MK park DVD we got last trip, it was unopened and we were able to enjoy it and have our lil hearts pumping She kept saying we walked right there and there ... LOL

We have the park music CD in the car too... so fun to hear it and wait with big eyes for our next trip.

I am not too concerned with the heat, we always sleep late and go out around 1pm and stay out till closing! We know what rides have AC and we have only us two to deal with, so we can cool off whenever we need to with no planning.

Now to get the rights clothes. I am not big on shorts, so capri shopping is a must!

Ok, its been a while! But hey, its summer! Well we are doing the 26 day dance !!

Well the summer has been flying by! Lots of changes ofr my DD this year. This is her first summer staying home alone for a couple hours in between me and DH coming and going. She LOVES it and is mad when she doesn't get her alone time LOL like mother-like daughter! Poor girl has my genes, I love to be alone at home too!

DD is going to a new school this year. From private back to public. She can't wait and is very excited to go back to where she was in 2nd grade. She is entering 7 now so it has been a while. She looks forward to Disney, then back to school 5 days later! We also got Areosmith tix for Sept, so she is just so happy with all these things.

We just planned her a visit to her cousins in ME too. She goes next week! She is ! Gosh I wish I was a kid again sometimes!

School shopping is almost done! We got supplies and backpack and clothes and clothes! We got Disney stuff too, but I need to get that packing list going.

I keep checking rental rates and nothing is dropping. I will post the final rates on everything as we get closer.

I want to make a tee for the trip. With Jack Sparrow of course! I just need time!! Last trip I made 6 tees for each of us and it was a blast!

I have to run to work... more soon...

Our 4th Mother/Daughter trip is 2 weeks away!!!!

I just had to laugh at all the things in your post that we had in common. We too found that on a trip with a few others 5 years ago that we had an incredible time when we just took off on our own and had a blast! That was the beginning of what has now become a yearly Mother/Daughter only event for us . We are staying at our first "deluxe" resort this time, a big splurge for me, but are hoping to make some wonderful memories .

When I read that you daughter is coming to Maine for the week, the first thing I thaught was I wonder what part she'll be at, because here we sit in Maine! Just another common thread

I hope she has a terrific week here in Maine, and that your Mother/Daughter trip is absolutely wonderful!!!!

We'll be at Pop from 8/27 to 9/2 for what was supposed to be our 3rd mother/daughter trip. DD decided that we should invite my mom along for our girl's trip. She then decided it would be great if her best friend came. So now we have a nana and the girls taking on the world. Maybe we'll see you there.

OH how cool- a deluxe! I think we may do that sometime.. but I would have to really get a deal!

DD is going to ME Saturday-yep! I think I will take the opportunity to get some clothes shopping done for ME lol, school shopping is almost done, but I want to try to find some skirts for the trip.

22 days and counting

So I am glad to have so many of us doing these vacations! It is so nice to know there are others that do this sort of thing !! I mean, I do not know too many DH's that will allow their wife and DD to go off like this. I have gotten some pretty funny looks from some people when I mention it. I do know some wives that want to go but DH's wont allow it. Have you gotten funny looks when you talk about you M/D trips?

UPDATE:

I am sooo trying to keep up with this report! I am out straight with work and DD home for the summer... we are either shopping for school or Disney LOL

Ok so DD is off to my sis's for the week It is time for me to work really hard and get things done! I have sooo much to do and keep having to stop to get to work!

Last week I played with Alamo codes and got my car down another 30 bucks! So I will have my 9 day rental (Econ) for 194.00 as of now.

I can't believe it is 16 days away! It is making my heart go crazy when i think of it! WDW!

I shopped all weekend for ME!!! I had to deal with the fact that I NEVER wear shorts and it's gonna be HOT there. So I picked up some long cotton skirts and tanks... all on summer clearence and boy I had a blast! Since DD wasn't there, I shopped for me and was able to have a spree of sorts I got 2 shirts, 2 gouchos and a bunch of tanks and tops... these are all out of my norm! I work in AC so I am always in pants and Tees!

I am also working on putting my last trip pics in albums! Ok please don't tell anyone else ... buuttt our last trip was the 1st digital and I took over 850 pictures! My friend gave me all his memory cards to borrow and I bought a couple, so I used all of them! Oh my I am a freak! DD has red eye in almost all of the night shots and we do all nights sooo I have to

1. fix red eye on a gazillion pics
2. rename and save them all to my computer so I can
3. copy all to CD for storage
4. upload 750 of them to Kodak site for print
5. order all those prints
6. get them in correct order, Kodak sends them all out of order, not by roll, pic by pic was all over the place, so I sit at the computer in my pic program and put them in the order they were taken!
7. Put them in albums

Ok so I was determined to finish this picture project before I go again and come home with yet more. All my WDW pics are organized and in albums, not other ones tho Well lets just say I am still on step 6!

Oh DD called today and I said 16 days it sounded weird to say it!

I still want to make a Tee shirt of POTC for the trip! I need design computer time! Gosh it seems everything I want to do I need to be at my home computer for!

I am starting a packing list now. I have my last two trips lists, but it was winter so I need to be a bit on the ball this time!

Oh, I got DH to watch a bit of POTC and he was like.. what the ??? now he doesn't watch anything but weather, music or news.. not sports, not weekly shows...nothing! But I told him, look at this movie for a bit and you will see the man I like... JACK SPARROW and he was like ummm, well he couldn't believe people watch movies like this although he liked Elizabeth! Well then I Magic Kingdom DVD... and Mickey came out and DH looked at me like I was a freakin FREAK! He sat through 10 mins and got up and said I can't take it anymore LOL !! He just has no interest
Well more for us is the way I see it. Plus he wants to go away too, so I get more vacations this way!


I sooooo can't wait to go!!!!!!!!!

update

Well I have a to do list a mile long! Getting ready for back to school and getting the trip ready is keeping me busy! I haven't done my tee shirt yet and I haven't been able to even write out a packing list Just so busy!

I picked up DD last night I missed her too much! She was ready to come home she said. She said she missed VMK and her quiet time LOL being an only child at home, she loves it!

OK, so there are some Dis people that are gonna meet up when I am there but I can't go because it is at JellyRolls and my DD is only 12... so we can't do that. Oh well, I will keep my eyes peeled for them at the parks.

I played with my rental codes again and got it done to 126.48 for an Econ and then to 119.18 for a compact !! This is awesome!

My Dad gave us some cash today... he is too cute to give us money for the trip

My DH always left great cards (filled with scratch tix) hidden around the house when he went away. He would call each night and tell me where to go to get "a prize". He was even fun and mailed cards too! So we do this for him now and some from DD and some from me. He enjoys an "I miss you" while we are gone. Now last trip he told me, look- if you keep going away this long.. I am gonna have to get a girlfriend poor dude gets lonely Well lets hope he doesn't do that for real

I plan on starting to pack tomorrow. DD wants a trip to the mall though too. I have bought enough clothes for 2 trips LOL I do NOT need any more stores! But she wants to finish school stuff, she has her own cash and plans to get a pocketbook and accessories.

Oh and I will sit with DD to go over the albums of our last trip! SHe hasn't see the pics yet and it will get her all pumped!

I have 4 lil kids next Sat night-overnight- so I have to get things done fast! I am running out of time!

Well off to bed! Here it is 241am and DD is still up too YIKES!!!!!!!
