We are planning our first Disney camping trip in April and will be purchasing a new tent for our site. Will a 15x14 tent fit into a standard site? Also, are there places to lock up our bikes if we ride to the boat launch to MK?

Disney does not have a "standard" site, forsberg21. Tent sites are available on the Tent, Full, or Preferred sites, all of which are NOT standard on their tent pad sizes. Premiums sites have no tent pad. Tent, Full, and Preferred sites have a paved 12 foot wide concrete drive and the tent pad is at least a foot wider on either side. Tent pads vary in size.

Since there is no standard tent size, what I recommend is that you add a note to your reservation about the size of your tent. Give the Disney campsite assigner enough info to help them help you. That's all you can do to give yourself the best chance to get a site that fits.

There are bike racks along the tree line between the boat docks and the golf cart parking which is down by the Settlement Trading Post. So between the bike racks, trees, and fence posts, there are lots of places for bikes.

There is a good Fort map here in post #9 http://www.disboards.com/threads/fort-wilderness-resort-information-a-work-in-progress.3502095/ and the bike parking area would be between locations 9 & 10 on the map.

What type of site did you reserve? Your tent will fit but depending on what type of site you have it might be a little difficult to stake down. And yes they have places to lock bikes. We often bring ours with us.

A 15 x 14 tent should be fine. It doesn't seem overly large. Of course a big factor is what type of site you were looking at.

I totally agree with Ed in that you should make sure you have your reservation noted with the tent size and any other "concerns" that may be a factor (maybe a desire to be closer or further from the Comfort Station or bus stop, etc...) The CMs will do their best to accommodate your requests.

Also, don't hesitate to request a change if you get there and your tent won't fit. Another option is to try and arrive early on check-in day. You have a much better chance of getting to switch sites than if you come in late and everything is already taken!

It's true that 99% of the sites will probably be fine. It's that last 1% that's the issue.

This past March I took a 10x12 tent along with my pop-up and was assigned site 201 right next to the Comfort Station. It's a Preferred site so you think it would have room for my tent right?

I used to not bother noting my tent size because I thought 10x12 would fit on any tent pad. But like lynzi says above, you can always try to move if you end up with one of those one percenters.
