...and we found 6 inches of snow in our driveway as an April Fool's joke.:(
That was not nice to come home to. At least it should melt pretty fast.

Our stay in Florida was great, though. The weather was wonderful, except for one day when we got rained on and totally soaked.

Sue, my father always promised me the snow would be gone by 4th of July! I'm looking forward to reading your comments, observations, etc. about WDW.

I hope this snow is gone by the 4th of July!!!

I hope to have some trip reports up by the weekend. I kept notes on my Palm pilot, so I hope to give a pretty complete report. :)

Welcome Back!! But what an awful April Fool's joke!!!

Welcome back, Sue. I'm glad you had a good trip! We must have passed each other on the highway. I'm now down in Florida for a 3 month rotation in pediatric orthopedics in Jacksonville. We have heard about the snow, and I'm glad we're not in Minnesota!

We leave for WDW in 3 weeks! We can't wait.

I hope the snow melts soon,
Wade

Hi Sue,

On Thursday I saw a red head being pushed by a man. They were on the bridge heading to the main pool area while we sat at the peninsula bus stop. I had been looking for you to say hello.

Tuesday we took a ride to Tampa and our van broke down. Had to be towed back to Disney!
Dan in the van on the tow truck- unload the van at OKW so we could open the lift and reload and take it to the car care center. We had to get back to Disney since our son had spent the day at Disneyquest! Disney could not find the problem during the next two days --
so we were pretty worried but we drove home to NC safely.
First time I ever left a vacation and wanted to get home!

We had some great moments but the van problems added stress to the vacation.
Glad it wasn't the trip of a life time but one of many!

Which building were you in -- we were in 27.
Still tired but will add some other details of the fun later.
Linda

This is my third try at posting here, so I hope it sticks!
Wade, the snow is almost melted now, so it's safe to come back to Minnesota.
Linda, it wasn't us you saw, but anytime my DH saw a man in a wheelchair, he asked "Is that the guy from the DIS board with a dog?" and every time we saw a little boy in a wheelchair, he asked "Is that the family with the computer (SueOKW)".
We didn't see any DIS people that I know of :(
but we did have a great time. I do have some notes written for trip reports and hope to start writing tomorrow.

Linda, I forgot to mention that I am sorry to hear about your van. Really bad luck.
We flew, but another time we may drive. That way we could take DD's manual and power wheelchairs. After hearing what happened to Chris' wheelchair, I'd be scared to take the power one on a plane and we really need both.
We had looked into renting a power chair, but DD needs a very narrow chair for the length. It's hard to find the right size aqnd unless we did, we couldn't use her Jay back and Jay gel seat. Besides, the wheelchair tech never came to read the settings on her controller, so we woouldn't have been able to set it right.

Hi guys! wasn't the weather awesome????? The redhead was absolutely Kevin.. our friend Andy took him out a lot when he was feeling unit bound! There is only one very adorable red headed 11 year old at OKW... that is, one on wheels.

Someone teach me how to link a picture.... oh wait, i'll try myself.... it would be great if the acutal pics show up!

Linda - sorry to hear about the van - that's a killer!! I can see where that would get you down. Kev's wheelchair was damaged on the way down in the plane - - something about the cable.. Keith had to buy some vice grips so we manually untilted - but that was nothing.

I did wait too long to rent a mini van, so we had a HUGE pick up truck instead.. we were quite the pioneers, pulling a wheelchair in and out of the bed!

but guys, remember this?... ahhhhh....

take care!

Hi Sue,

I didn't see your post about flying before, BUT... I just wanted to say that although the airline broke my chair, they did pay for it with no questions asked. It was terribly stressful for me though. We flew American, and I wouldn't hesitate to fly them again based on their willingness to pay for their mistake... I also need both my manual & powerchair by the way, so I'm the airlines worse nightmare :D

We are flying again for November trip, only this time we're flying Delta (we had a credit), I can tell you I am stressing about this one. I do plan on bringing my chair in to the service guy, to get a perfect bill of health, that way if Delta breaks it, I have proof that it was in great shape when they got it. Under normal circumstances up here the Delta reps have no clue what they're doing & this is far from normal... so of course I'll let you guys no how it goes!

Oh, I almost forgot, I would NOT rent another powerchair in Orlando again. The rental I got from Walker's was in terrible condition & they don't fit well... not to mention it was 45.00/day. I'll be flying with mine & holding the airline responsible for its safety!

Sue, I can see you in the enormous truck. Too funny.
I think I can edit your post to make your pictures show, but it won't let me just now. I'll try later. The links work well though and the pictures are nice. Looks like you had fun.
I'm sorry we didn't get to run into each other while we were all there. I was decked out in green ribbons, but didn't see anyone else fixed up that way. Maybe next year.

Chris, I'm sorry to hear that Walker didn't work out. We had contacted them to rent a power wheelchair for Katrina, but she has a very narrow chair compared to the length, so I knew it wouldn't be easy to get one to fit. They also said all they provide is a straight back on seat, so if we couldn't get hers to fit, we would have been paying our $45 a day (with a 3 day minimum) for a chair she couldn't even use. We might have to bite the bullet next year and bring hers along.
