We Invite You to Relax as the Dining Room Proudly Presents a TR! *The End 12/24 Pg44*

Disney World is notorious for making things disappear. I have learned to get what I really, really want the first time I see it. Jill used her Mickey mixing bowl with the spout when I was at her house last, and I 'grieved' not being able to find myself one. :sad1:

Anytime I saw a kitchen display on this past trip MeMom I would scan through it in hopes they brought it back! I was so ready to scoop it up for you!!!! But alas, no mixing bowl. :sad2:

Oh I hope Haunted Mansion Life made it home with you, I've done that "we'll be back" or "it will be elsewhere" and invariably we don't end up with whatever it is.

Fingers crossed that Brown Derby worked out ok!

I'm thinking they will come out with a new one soon, and I'll grab it up. :)

He he he about beating Marc a second time!!! :rotfl: I also laughed over how you took a picture of Weezy for Marc.

Love the shirts the two of you were wearing that day! So cute!

I have looked at the Haunted Mansion Life online. Tell me you bought it later on in the trip and have taken pictures of the board, so I can decide for sure I want to buy it. LOL!

Looking forward to Brown Derby -- but I also wanted to say that I love that mickey tie dye! Very very cute! :goodvibes

Congrats on another win on TSM. I'm betting you've had a lot more practice at it than Marc though. Still, kudos on winning.

Oh, my fingers are so crossed that your Brown Derby meal works out! It's my all-time favorite WDW lunch spot...can't beat that Cobb salad!

And here's a little TSM victory dance for you:
:banana::cool1::dance3::cheer2::yay:
I adore Brown Derby, I love the food and the old hollywood feel in there.

WOOT great update!! Yay for beating Marc twice, I'm starting to get a little nervous now LOL ( only just a little LOL)!!!

Your pictures are amazing! You guys are so cute together!!! I love the pictures next to the car!!!

Haunted Mansion Life...oh how I want thee!!!! I will own thee someday!!!

OOOH...I adore Brown Derby can't wait for to hear about this meal!
You should be nervous. I hope to kick your butt in January though I know that I only won game against you last year. We shall have to see what happens!

:woohoo: I don't have to ride Small World 10 times in a row! :rotfl:

You smoked him!!! Woot!!! And you are such a nice wife for taking the picture of Wheezy for him. :goodvibes

I sure hope your meal at Brown Derby went okay...!

And did you mention where Marc got his shirt? I cannot recall - Joe would seriously just love that!
Aren't you glad you don't have too? ;)

I did smoke him and I will tell you, it still THRILLS me when I think about it.

We got that shirt at Kohls for $3.99 before vacation! Isn't that a great deal? We also got a Star Wars one for him too. We have such good luck at Kohls.

Cute mini update. Love the shirts you are each wearing at HS. Marc's is pretty funny!

You sure did smoke him....AGAIN! Have you been practicing. I wish I could get Marc's score let alone yours! :worship:

I just have a feeling lunch is going to go really, really well since this IS your favorite restaurant.
Marc got a lot of comments on his shirt.

I hadn't been practicing but I'm suddenly in the mood to dig out the Wii and the Toy Story Mania game for sure!

Good picture of you guys. Tower of Terror does make a cool background. The palm trees and beautiful blue sky are pretty nice, too. :thumbsup2

It is a beautiful background, I don't need to ride it to appreciate it.

Seriously! Why can't they just leave things until your next trip...whenever that may be. :lmao:

Woo hoo for beating Marc a second time! :cool1: You rock girl!!!

HM Life?! Really!? I may have to scope that out!!

I really hope that you were able to eat at BD!!!
HM life is really really cool!

Anytime I saw a kitchen display on this past trip MeMom I would scan through it in hopes they brought it back! I was so ready to scoop it up for you!!!! But alas, no mixing bowl. :sad2:
I don't think I know what this mixing bowl looks like.

Oh I hope Haunted Mansion Life made it home with you, I've done that "we'll be back" or "it will be elsewhere" and invariably we don't end up with whatever it is.

I will say this, we saw it at a few places but we really had to hunt for it.

I'm thinking they will come out with a new one soon, and I'll grab it up. :)
I bet they will!

I never knew how much he liked Wheezy! But apparently he does.

Buy it. :rolleyes1

Looking forward to Brown Derby -- but I also wanted to say that I love that mickey tie dye! Very very cute! :goodvibes
I love my mickey tie dye, I bought it from Tarzanskat, she also did the long sleeve ones Jen & I had in January.

Congrats on another win on TSM. I'm betting you've had a lot more practice at it than Marc though. Still, kudos on winning.
True, I did have two more trips than him to practice but still...I kicked his butt. :rolleyes1

Tuesday September 7th, Part 3.

I'm sorry I left you with such a short update. Somehow about 8 of my Brown Derby pictures did not get uploaded! The shame.

When we arrived at Brown Derby, Marc checked us in. In 2008, I made sure to do all of the checking in, the planning and everything. It's exhausting so this trip I made sure to let Marc do his fair share and also give me lots of input and decision making when we would change up our plans. Like the ADR we had added for this evening....

Marc asked for a booth on his own! I was so surprised he had actually remembered when I had told him how cool it was to sit in the booths at Brown Derby, we had a table in 2008.

We had a wonderful server, his name was Derrin. He was very attentive and made wonderful suggestions. You could also tell that he loved his job and Disney. I love seeing that in the CMs.

We hemmed and hawed about what we wanted to order. I saw on the menu that polenta was back but not with salmon. It was with steak.

OKAY! VENT TIME.

I just checked the Brown Derby menu on Allears to see what the polenta was called exactly and it is OFF the menu again. :headache:

Anyways...it came with steak and it was a sweet corn polenta. When Derrin brought our drinks by, I asked him if there would be anyway that I could just get a side of polenta since I couldn't eat steak. He said that would be NO problem. I was THRILLED.

We ordered and then Derrin brought out the bread. The butter had a Hawaiian sea salt with thyme on top.

I had a very small amount of bread with the butter, salt and thyme and let me tell you, it was an amazing combination. We just took a few little leaves of the thyme and put it on there and it was so good. Best bread and butter on Disney property.

While we were waiting for our food, I dug out our "itineraray". I use " " because we weren't really follwing it. Basically we were just using it for park hours, TGM suggestions and our ADRs...which changed A LOT.

Derrin came by to check on us and that is when we started talking about how much he loves his job, the park crowds, etc. It was very nice.

Soon enough, our food arrived. Marc ordered the Noodle Bowl - with Wok-fried Coconut Tofu, Soy Beans, Sugar Snap Peas, Bok Choy, and Shiitake Mushrooms in a Red Curry Broth $23.00

DSC00347-1.jpg

He had this in 2008 and he really wanted it again. He did get a little stuck on the vegetables in it and had to go to the bathroom to take care of business. After he got back, he stuck to the softer veggies and the tofu. He gave it 2 thumbs up.

I ordered the side of polenta and the Blue Lump Crab Cake - with Potato Crust, Green Cabbage Slaw, Cognac Mustard Sauce, and Rémoulade $12.00.

I know the polenta doesn't look like much but it was AMAZING!! It was a sweet corn polenta, so it had kernals of corn, black diamond chedder and it was delicious. It's creamy and almost like a very sophisticated mashed potato, though way better. I can't even begin to describe how delicious it was. :cloud9: The crab cake was delicious too, Marc helped me eat it. Honestly, I should have just ordered the polenta. I ate very, very slowly. I really tried to not rush it and it worked. I didn't get sick!!

By the time ordering dessert came around...we were way too stuffed! So we skipped it, which broke my heart just a teeny tiny bit.

The bill came and Marc started laughing when he looked at it.

Want to know how much they charged us for my heaven sent polenta?

$2.99!!

It is officially the best dining deal in Disney.

$2.99!!

I should have ordered some to go. :lmao:

After lunch we still had some time to wait until our last set of TSM fastpasses were ready. Marc decided that he wanted to ride R&RC and ToT again. I decided to head toward Disney Animation.

I have never seen an artist sitting there!

DSC00351.jpg

I really can't wait to see Tangled.

The Lotso line wasn't too long so I hopped into it. Mickey's line was wicked long so I skipped him.

Now, I still haven't seen Toy Story 3, with school and work we just never had time to make it to the theater. I'm excited it will be out on DVD soon. So I don't exactly know the deal with Lotso except that appearances are deceiving and that is how I'd like to leave it until I see it.

This was a line in which I got a lot of looks for not having a child with me. I didn't care. I pay my money to get in just like everyone else so back off. At least that is what I was saying to myself. I actually had a lady ask me where my child was and that they should be in line with me. I just said, "It's only me, no kids." Argh.

Soon enough it was my turn and they cut the line off at me. I was secretly thrilled that the lady behind me had to wait longer. You didn't know I was so evil did you? :rolleyes1 The CM managing the line said I didn't have a Mickey shirt on but a Lotso shirt since I matched so well!

I :lovestruc this picture.

Lotso was very, very clingy. I know thats the deal, Lotso Hugging Bear but...I was a little overwhelmed by how touchy feely he was. :rotfl:

When I was done meeting Lotso, I looked around a bit in the Animation Shop. Oogling over the Jim Shore carousel figures, I had wanted to buy one this trip but I couldn't find Ariel anywhere! :sad1:

Marc texted me, and we met out in front of the archway and headed to duel once again on TSM.

Can you guess who won?

DSC00357.jpg

Yep, that would be me! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Marc was feeling pretty dejected by this third victory of mine. He swore revenge on our next DHS day.

I skipped out of DHS with a spring in my step and a smile on my face!

Coming up...
Pool Time, the perfect shirt and Parmesean Pomme Frites.

YAY for a great meal at Brown Derby!!!!:cool1::banana: A wonderful restaurant that never fails to impress!!! Hopefully the polenta will be back on the menu when you go next!!

WOOT 3 for 3 you rock girl!!! YAY for a great day at DHS!!!!!!

Love your pictures with Lotso!! I too enjoyed that meet in May and then I saw the movie :sad2:

What a great afternoon! We'll be at Brown Derby on Friday. I'm so excited, but a little nervous. My favorite is the Cobb Salad, but I'm not sure my picky tummy will like it. I'll have to work on deciding what to order.

I love how much fun you & Marc have at the parks sans kids. I can't wait to show my DH this week that he can have fun at Disney without them.

Y'all are my inspiration! Keep it up!

Hurrah for a great meal at Brown Derby!! :yay: What time was your ADR? The restaurant looks empty in your photos! That polenta was definitely the deal of the century. I totally agree with you on great CM's... they really do make a difference.

Oh and definitely the best bread and butter. :cloud9:

Your picture with Lotso is adorable! Grrr to the lady behind you. :sad2:

Another TSM victory... Jen, hope you're practicing for January! ;)

I really hope the polenta comes back, it was so delicious. Marc made a version of it this week for dinner. It was so yummy!

I'm very sad that I probably won't like Lotso after I watch Toy Story 3. :sad2:

You will do just fine on your trip. Just listen to your body. Part of my problem was that I wasn't ordering right....if you don't think it will work, order something you KNOW will work. :thumbsup2

We do have a lot of fun at the parks sans kids. I look forward to when we do have kids but for right now it's all about us. :goodvibes

It was a fabulous meal for sure. Our ADR was at 11:40AM, ten minutes after they had opened. It was empty. Derrin also said that the expected crowd level was next to nothing for that day too.

That lady was very annoying, I just tried to do my best to ignore her.

She better be practicing!! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Yay for a great meal at HBD!
The polenta was an awesome deal.
The photos with Lotso are great.

It's great to see that you and Marc are comfortable enough to head in opposite directions for a little while. You get a little alone time during during your us time. :goodvibes
Sometimes karma is great! You got to go in and the lady behind you had to wait. :thumbsup2
Yay for a good dining experience, slow and easy does it.

What a perfect day! I am so glad that you were able to enjoy your favourite restaurant!! :cool1:

Glad to head that the Brown Derby was a sucess. You know, all this time I've read your trip reports, I've never really thought about what polenta was. I'm not a big salmon fan so the dish never sounded like anything I'd be interested in. Your descirption of the polenta by itself though sounds delicious though. The bred and butter sounded fantastic too. One of these days I've got to go back to the Brown Derby.

That's nice that you got to meet Lotso. He's certainly a hugger, isn't he.

At least it's in Lotso's character to be touchy feely. It's when the other characters start getting friendly that I have to laugh. I've had a couple of experiences. Goofy. Tigger. 'Nuff said. :lmao:

$2.99 for the polenta? I'm actually shocked they didn't upcharge you, you know? That's awesome. And I was going to say, Marc must love that noodle bowl, because that's the second time I remember him getting it. I'm rather partial to it as well, great flavor. Seems like this meal was MUCH better than others. :thumbsup2

Hooray for a successful meal! That polenta looked so yum....
We met Losto before the seeing the movie way back in May, I can't wait to hear your comments after you get to see him in action!

OK - Now I want polenta and crabcakes. That looks so yummy! So glad that your meal went well. You were in your happy place - awesome.

And rock on with that third win! That is so awesome!

Great day - great update!
