I had a leaky cold water faucet in my kitchen....my dearest husband who isn't afraid to try anything (but is not very handy) thought he could fix it. As he started to disassemble the cold water knob, his very intellingent wife said to him "don't you think you should shut the water valve off underneath the sink in case we end up with a water fountain in our kitchen?" The fearless husband answered "oh no, it'll be okay." Not 2 minutes later, the fearless husband was completely drenched & with water dripping off his face, hair & glasses, he is so frantically screaming for his wife (who had the "I told you so" look on her face) to shut the valve off while 'fearless' was holding his hands over the faucet which was like an erupting volcano.

(I'm wiping the tears away from laughter right now!!) There was water everywhere! I can't believe it came out with such force that it almost hit the ceiling. My husband was wet from head to toe. I tossed him a kitchen towel to start wiping up the mess, but he wiped his face & head off first & cleaned off his glasses. Anyway, my kitchen is nice & clean now! I went over to the man across the street & asked if he could give us a hand (I know that he knows how to do a little of everything.) So he came over & fixed everything up in no time. My husband looked a little embarrassed as he stood there like a wet cat, still dripping water everywhere. I had to wring his shirt out after he took it off! What a night!

Anything like that ever happen to you?

Oh, yes! DH has asked me when I'm dying my hair red because I do so many "I Love Lucy" things. Like the time I decided our toilet in our Master Bathroom was plugged. We have 2 baths, and what I didn't know was that every time I flushed the toilet in our bathroom, the toilet in the main bathroom was overflowing more. When I finally gave up and came out, I was met with a floor covered with stinky water, Or how about the time the toilet was overflowing and I decided that if I lifted the float thing, the toilet would stop. When I finally lifted the lid and pulled up the float, well, of course, it just broke off in my hand. Not knowing what to do, I just stood there with the float in my hand and cried. Oh, yes-"I Love Lucy"!

:rotfl: sounds like something that would happen to me.

When we first moved into our house (which we bought brand new), we turned on the dishwasher and left one day. We came home to a swimming pool in the kitchen. That U-shaped pipe under the kitchen sink had fallen off, and the dishwasher water comes from the sink.

Well, DH and I gather up a bucket and all the sponges and mops we can find to get the water up. We filled the 5-gallon bucket and needed it emptied, so DH emptied it in the sink! I didn't say anything when he went to do it because I thought he was kidding. Apparently it didn't occur to him that anything we dumped down the sink would just end up in the cabinet right below it.

Your stories are too funny! Glad to see we're not the only Lucy/Ricki Ricardo family here on the DIS!!
