I am confused. Did YOU get the upgrade, or was it from mommy & daddy?

His family got it, so both? As far as I can tell, everyone is on one reservation.

And CR Resort Fan (Jason?) You're going to love the Poly! If you check in early on Saturday, you should watch the hula dancing in the lobby. It normally starts about 10:30 am. :thumbsup2

Our flight does not leave until 10:30 AM on Saturday, however does it take place any other days at that time?

I really hope you get your upgrade!!:wizard:
I have had the pleasure of staying LVC several times and it is amazing. We will be there Monday gv this trip (2 kids in college) but if you see me strolling around my Jack who has Down Syndrome in his blue wheelchair please say hello!!
Have a GREAT trip no matter what the outcome:santa:

The hula dancing is pretty much random... at least it was when we stayed there in July. Enjoy your trip!! :)

You're getting a little defensive about this! If it's worrying you so much, maybe you should just not think about it too much until you get there, and then if you have your upgraded room, it will be a nice surprise.

Otherwise you're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

And I don't think Disney will owe you any compensation at all if they can't honor a complimentary upgrade. You didn't BOOK a lagoon view room, so you can't expect them to PAY YOU for not upgrading you. That's completely illogical. :sad2:

Well-said! CheshireVal!:thumbsup2

OP, you will enjoy your trip no matter what view you have. I think other posters might have gotten their noses pushed a little out of joint because of the way you came off....sorry. It's just that a surprise or complimentory upgrade is just that-it's not logical to think they will give you something extra or pay you if it doesn't pan out, you know what I mean? I saw somewhere that you posted about them lying if you don't get the upgrade upon check-in? Please tell me that you really don't think that way?! You know how wonderful it is to just be at Disney & more times than not, they do what they can to please their guests. I guess it will be a real treat if it works out. Don't forget to post some pictures & have a great time.....and relax.;)

Things might also depend what time of day the op checks in. I know that I have checked in early and requested something and the rooms have been changed around from what they had been assigned by the computer. You might get beat to the free upgrade by a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary or something like that. I would assume that the free upgrades are first come first serve.

I was thinking about this a little more and this thought came into my head. Bavaria said something about Disney sending out new confirmations when room types are changed in the hotel system. If that were a mistake when we got the e-mail confirmation for the Lagoon view, why was the WDW website updated with that info as well when I typed in our confirmation number? Aren't they completely seperate from CRO? If we had just got the new confirmation by e-mail and the site was not updated I would think something was not right. However because both say Lagoon view that is why I did not think it was a mistake.

KMLOVESWDW,
I only brought up the lying factor because in my opinion it would seem like someone at WDW did that because of the factors on my side of the story. I don't think like the way you mentioned. I only thought if the CM's at the Poly said we are in a Garden view and we show them the confirmation saying Lagoon view and they still say no were not, maybe they would give us a small gift or something to make up for the mistake. I also said earlier it was wrong for me to suggest that we should get any compensation.

Back in May 2000 when my family and I got a free upgrade to the 14th floor at the Contemporary, we were told free upgrades come up in the computer when the guests name gets typed in at check-in.

I still don't get it. Disney didn't make a mistake. You'll get the room your parents paid for, and you may get upgraded, but you aren't entitled to a free upgrade. Agreed?

Do you still think you are entitled to a "small gift or something" because you didn't get a "free upgrade"?

It is fascinating to watch the spider catch so many flies once again......

Speaking as one of the "flies" that is so often caught in this particular web, I gotta admit that's funny. It's sort of like beating my head against a brick wall, but I keep coming back for more. Maybe I just like a challenge.

It just may well say more about me than it does the "spider". Food for thought for all of us "flies".

Yes, but my point is that the computer would have to be constantly changing. When I checked in early in the day on my September 2004 trip, I wasn't happy with my room and asked to be changed. Obviously whatever room I was changed to was put in a room that was originally assigned to someone else. Things change.

Jason and family, Where ever your room ends up being.. have a wonderful time!!!!
I'm heading off to work here shortly and I wish I could be with all the happy people at WDW enjoying my favoites. Come June I will be there.:yay:
Have an awesome vacation and forget about the boards for a few days!!!:goodvibes
:thumbsup2

I am having a blast reading this thread:rotfl: :rotfl:
and it has someone in common...... CR Fan
I am in and out of this board over the last 2 years. Again, lets all get along.:hippie: But you all should check out the thread when someone posted they didn't like the actual CR. Sometimes we instigate the responses we receive. :wizard:

More than likely the upgrade will be honored, but not a guarantee. Ducklite and others are correct in that room counts could change and there goes the upgrade.

Best to read the fine print that says: All terms and conditions are subject to change by Disney without notice.

Basically in the hotel industry nothing is a guarantee until you are in the room.

Unfortunately the Disney reservation system sends out new confirmations when room types are changed in the hotel system; this is a fatal flaw which should be corrected to avoid disappointment

Definitely and the resorts are hating this. They have to deal with the fall out.

OP, I hope you have a great trip, whatever room you are in! I know you'll just love the Poly!!!!:thumbsup2
