We Got to Eat Dessert for Lunch and Dinner...Our Family on the Dining Plan

Dinner at Boma
This was one of the best dinners during our trip. We really enjoyed the different flavours here.

Here are a couple pics of the soups we tried.

This was something like a chicken stew soup (sorry, I forget what the name was). It was really yummy.

This was a lentil soup (also forgot the name), also very tasty.

My DH had the carrot and ginger soup. However I missed taking a pic because he eats fast and I was in the buffet line.

Here are some pics of the plates we had. For us, the most enjoyable were the avocado/grapefruit/papaya salad, the pork ribs, coconut rice, roast beef, bread pudding with the vanilla sauce, and all the fresh fruit.

Here's a pic of the desserts.

We had one zebra dome...and we were kind of disappointed. They were just too sweet for us.

Verdict: :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 / 5 Great food. The only reason we didn't rate this place a perfect 5 was because we found some of the meats a bit salty and some of the desserts too sweet. But that's just us and our delicate palettes...we don't eat really salty or overly sweet foods at home, so perhaps we're just not used to flavour.

If I had a do-over: I would have eaten more bread pudding with the vanilla sauce. That was just too yummy!!!

Lunch at Le Cellier

We couldn't get a dinner ADR at Le Cellier, so we got a lunch ADR instead. Our lunch time was 11:30, which coincided with the restaurant's opening. We got to experience their opening ritual, which was a rousing rendition of "O Canada!". Being Canadian, that was a very sentimental moment, with my DH and I singing loud and proud alongside the Canadian CMs at Le Cellier. ;)

I must say...this place does live up to its hype...at least on the day we were there. The food was fabulous.

We started out with the pretzel bread. Very warm, fresh, and yummy. The smell of the freshly baked bread was really enticing and made me really hungry.

DD13 was not very hungry, so she and DD9 traded meals. DD13 picked the kiddie meal while DD9 had the adult meal.

DD13 got the meaty macaroni.

Her kiddie dessert was the fruit cup.

DD9 got the Chef's Favourite Potato Gnocchi, which came with a mixed field greens salad (that she shared with me and DH). The salad was delicious, with goat cheese, walnuts in a vinagrette. Definitely one of the more tastier salads I've had in a long time.

DD9 loves sorbets so she picked the seasonal sorbet which happened to be coconut. She didn't seem too keen on the coconut sorbet, so we asked our CM if we could sub it for raspberry sorbet (on the menu with another dessert). Our really nice CM allowed her to have it and gave her a heaping serving of it!

DH and I chose the same meals: Mushroom Filet Mignon. We had the wild mushroom risotto. It was just amazing, with both of us agreeing this was the BEST meal on the trip. (Yes, I know...we said that about Boma...but it seems every meal we were having seemed to be getting better and better!!!)

My dessert: Maple Creme Brulee. This was good, but I must admit, I'm a purist and the overpowering maple taste was much too much for me. I kind of preferred the plain Wolfgang Puck Express creme brulee (that one has spoiled me for life, I'm afraid). But don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed this one.

DH's dessert: This thing of beauty...a sugar-free chocolate mousse and sugar-free raspberry sorbet...

I also ordered this mango/berry drink, which was yummy.

Verdict: :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 / 5 This meal was a winner! Service was fabulous (it's true, Canadians are a friendly bunch...and I'm not biased ;))

If I had a do-over: I'd have fought harder with my DH to gain control of that salad. It was to-die-for, and I should have had more of it.

Great reviews. We are going in Dec. and are also going to the Sci Fi and Le Cellier for lunch. I was glad to read your reviews. How is the chocolate peanut butter cake at Sci Fi? It looks yummy!

wonderful reviews. I'm so glad you have enjoyed your lunch at LeCelleir...we are going to try it for our first time and I actually schedule lunch b/c it worked out better for our family. I'm going to order the mushroom Filet and I'm so happy you like it. Thanks for posting:goodvibes

The chocolate peanut butter cake was very good. I'm glad I ordered that instead of the apple dessert. The cake was the right sweetness and very enjoyable to eat, though if I were to criticize it, I'd put in more peanut butter. ;)

You are really going to enjoy it! It's a heavy meal for lunch -- what with the entree AND dessert -- but WOW, it was good and the service was so friendly.

Wish we were going back soon as I'm sitting here in my office hungry and thinking about food...

All your meals looked great! We love WPE, so many choices and the best creme bruele around!
The gnocci at LC looked very good, did it have meat in it or were those mushrooms- either way I would order that- we have not been to LC for a while due to bad service a couple times but lookes like we might add it back to the list again.

Thanks for sharing.
