We got our date! I think.....

We got the call from our sales manager today saying that we got all the locations we wanted fro next october so we're tentatively scheduled and that we sign our contract and send in our deposit in February. So we're all pencilled in for everything which has us VERY happy and excited, but also wondering.... Since it's "tentatively scheduled" and "pencilled in" does that mean we can still get bumped between now and February when we sign everything? That's confusing. Does that mean that a conference could come in and steal our balllroom away from us or is it just tentatively scheduled in case they need to close and refurbiish something? It just sounds so mysetrious and of course we didn't think to ask her when we were on the phone so I thought I'd try y'all and see if any of you had any insight as to what all this means. We're one year out and we're not having a theme park wedding or anything where we can sign at the year so we have to wait until February to sign and I'm just scared that in January or something we're gonna get a call saying "Um, yeah, you can't get married there now cause we've got 800 computer nerds coming into town instead." So tell me if it's time to celebrate or time to worry Thanks for any and all input!

First of all congrats on your engagement!!!!! That's reason enough to celebrate
Before you start to worry call your sales manager. They can give you the most info on what can go on between now and February. Good luck!

Thanks I was just hoping one of the other brides here had already gone thru this and knew what all this meant when you get the call at the year spot but then have the 8 months until you can sign the contract. It's all so frustrating and exciting at once!

i'm pretty sure the reason they dont let u sign the contract til 8 months is in case a convention gets booked (aka the computer nerds) conventions take priorty over weddings good luck though! keep ur fingers crossed

We are going through the same thing for September. We do not sign the contract until January. When I found out I could be bumped I called back and asked what the plan b was for that night. They listed another hotel that had alot of ballroom space. I would recommend doing the same. At least I know I have my date.

Thank you so much! Our sales manager said we shouldn't have a problem getting our date (which we didn't) so I guess it's just in case some convention wants our balllroooms. I told her I'd have my reception anywhere as long as it was on the date and time I wanted and she said then we'd be fine so I guess I've got nothing to worry about.
