We just got an email from our rental agency which claims that we owed a $0.75 toll from the Beeline (just outside of MCO) plus a $12.50 "convenience fee" added by the agency. Convenient to whom?

I'll tell you what though - these people are smart. They gouged just about the right amount that won't cause me to spend an hour on hold on the phone arguing with them about it.

Unfortunately, there maybe a delay on tolls being posted to your receipt, due to a delay of the Transportation Agencies consolidating and posting tolls in a timely manner. In the event additional tolls are forwarded to us we will process them and forward an additional e-receipt to you as soon as possible.

We payed our tolls on the Beeline, we pulled into the "Cash" lane, had the change ready and paid. What kind of baloney is this? Has FDOT turned into a bunch of gougers? Do they have stealth toll booths that photograph your license plate but are otherwise not labeled? Are the rental companies conniving with FDOT to let this happen because of the lucrative "convenience" fees then can charge?

I know that economic times are tough and everything, but this is a reason to make things more affordable, more fair and more attractive to your customers, not to give them the shaft!

If you paid the toll then search this forum for "Toll Scams". Meanwhile here is a link to one http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2332595&highlight=toll+scam

Same thing happened to me. I disputed the charge and never heard anything back. I should have fought harder about this. I am pretty sure that I did not miss a toll. They said it was leaving the airport-SFB.

Hmm - maybe it's best when paying cash in a rental car to take the extra time to go thru the attended lane where available and get a receipt.

INMHO - Dollar/Thrifty are the biggest vrooks when it comes to this.

Alamo/National/Enterprise have the most friendly (still a bit pricey) policies

Its just insane that FLA can take Ezpass like many other state or give you teh option of buying a temporary tag

That's what I'm going to do in Oct....just to be on the safe side.
