We did the unthinkable! We Left the teenagers home: DH & I do Disney solo:update 1/15

Your H is a hoot! That's something mine would say too...I have unmanageable hair that I try to straighten, but it is very frizz-tastic, and I am already worrying about the humidity in Orlando. Living in Phoenix I am really used to very low humidity levels...
Oh, and I should thank you! I showed H your pics,(while pointing out the shorts and short sleeves), and now I "have" to go do some shopping this weekend for some brand spanking new "warm weather" clothes! YEEES!

New summer clothes - yeah! I am always scooping up summer clothes on clearance, so I can put them away for Florida trips. I think everything I wore on this trip I got on clearance in August and September! :rotfl: The humidity will not be too bad when you visit, but probably worse than what you are used to. I visited Phoenix once for a conference - nice weather!!!!!

BTW - I had a hair cut/color today and my hairdresser estimates that I will be ready to "donate" in 3 more haircuts. 3 x 5 weeks = 15 weeks until I lose my hair!

I really want to try VB- wonder when I'm going to fit that one in? I'm sure I'll love it as much as HHI!

Oh - you must! See my June trip report for some fab pics of Vero. I had the best ocean view. I am NEVER going back to the Delaware beaches or the Jersey shore! :rotfl:

This is terrible - but it is hard for me to remember exactly where I took these first few pictures. But, hey, I did just wake up from a power nap. I am pretty sure this is Congress Park. Or is it the Paddock

I have more pics of SSR, but you will have to wait until my final day!

It's amazing how close DTD is to SSR. It really does look beautiful and peaceful too. Peaceful is good when you want to get away from the hustle bustle of the parks.

Haha! That's what we were saying in HHI- well, not that we won't go back to NJ (I do still love LBI:lovestruc ), but we were saying how are we ever going back to an LBI vacation after this? There is so much to do, it's so nice there....well, you know! I will read your June report soon!

And love the SSR pics...I've lately been missing it, maybe I'll have to stay there with the kids next year...:thumbsup2

Wow, you have been a posting machine since I checked in last. I must agree, TSMM is much better than Buzz.

Thanks for the pics of SSR, it looks like such a beautiful resort!

and I'm sure you went to a different Wal-Mart, there must be one closer than that one on 194. I only know it's there because our condo was close to that area.

I Know what you mean. I won't stop visiting Rehobeth, but given a choice between a week in Vero versus a week in Rehobeth. Gee - let me think about that.

Glad you like the SSR pics. It is a pretty resort. I am really looking forward to AKL Villas. Looking forward to reading about your future girls' trip.

That's a perfect way to describe it. The first time I stayed there, I realized that I could stay there without even going to the parks. I thought it would be a good location for whatever I wanted to do in the Orlando area. That's why I decided to make it my home resort.

POR is pretty peaceful, too. I think the resorts are pretty similar in terms of landscaping and water views.

Hey Katie -

I'm glad you like the pics. I'm not sure about that Walmart location. Let's just say that I don't plan on any Walmart visits on my next trip! :rotfl:

Well, I must say that I feel a little sad about getting to this post, because I know my trip is almost over. So, we might as well have a fun filled night.

DH and I arrived at the MK around 5pm. We went to Will Call to pick up our tickets - pretty painless.

The first thing we noticed before we even picked up our tickets was this......

DisneyDecember2008849.jpg

Wow - I guess we were pretty lucky to get those tickets the day before the event.
DisneyDecember2008848.jpg

The first thing I remember is the cute little Christmas uniforms all the cast members had on. They were very festive. We had our wristbands on in no time and we happily entered Main Street.

We watched the band go by

DisneyDecember2008850.jpg

Our ADR was at the Plaza for 5:30. I love the Plaza. I think its so cute and the sandwiches are great! It's like upscale counter service. We did check in a few minutes early and took a seat out front. The Plaza was hoping and it took 10 or 15 minutes for us to get seated.

I snapped these pics from our seat at a little outside ice cream table

Since we had an early lunch, I was pretty starved by now. I can't remember what snadwich DH had, but I had the veggie sandwich with coleslaw. I wanted something healthy, since I hade a burger for lunc. The sandwich was pretty filling, was on a nice grainy bread, and had a nice selection of grilled vegetables and a balsamic type dressing. Sorry, no food pics tonight.

After dinner we walked over to tomorrow land. The park was pretty crowded because the party goers were arriving, but there were plenty of regular guests still in the park.

The first thing we did over in TL was take a quick ride on TTA. This was the first time I've ever had to wait to get on this ride. We thought we might ride it once and then go into the "Twas the Night Before Christmas" show. By the time we got off, it was standing room only for TTNBC. I really didn't want to stand, so we set out to do some rides.

Up next.... Our crash course in rides and the Christmas activities.

You were very lucky to get tickets! I'm glad you did because I love hearing about the special events. :rotfl:

I know. Plus we were able to get the DVC discounted tickets! :thumbsup2 Twenty bucks is Twenty bucks. Going to post a little more now.

For of all, I must say that I am excited to have reached the 200 post mark! :cool1: I don't think I reached this on my last TR. THANK YOU READERS, especially faithful LL who visits me every morning.

Secondly, I must apologize for my short post last night. This is my first full week of work in about 4 weeks and I am feeling the burn! I can't keep my eyes open at night and I make a bunch of mistakes and forget what I am writing about. It's similar to Altzheimer's, I suspect. :rolleyes1

I can't post pics now, but I can still write a bit more about the party. I took soooooooo many pics of the Christmas show, the fireworks, and the parade. Especially the show. I must have taken at least 50 of the show, so there must be a few good ones in there somewhere. However, I kept getting super annoyed because there was this big headed guy in front of me. I kept getting his head in my pictures! Everytime I would move in one direction, so would he. Sooooooo annoying! :headache:

So when I left off last, we had just gotten off of TTA and decided not to stand for the show. We took our time and walked over to Fantasyland. We decided to ride the Snow White ride because there was absolutely no line. I am not sure whether I have ever been on this ride. You see, I didn't start going to Disney until my kids were already "too cool" or not interested in this ride. I don't even know the exact name of this ride. So I could use a little help here. We got in a car with a little girl who was so adorable. The ride was cute. It would definately be fun to take a small kid on this ride. I also like the Peter Pan ride, but we skipped it cause the line was longer. Pooh, I can definately live without.

When we got off the ride, I got a bright idea  Yeah, I know, hard to believe. But it suddenly occurred to me that it wasn't 7pm yet and if we walked really fast we could jump on Jungle Cruise before it closed. I wanted to experience this ride at night. So we walked really, really fast over to JC. I wasn't even sure whether they would let us on. "Are we too late?", I asked. "No, plenty of time", said the CM. :woohoo:

I am so glad we did this ride at night. Not neccessarily because it seemed that much different at night, but because we had THE BEST CAPTAIN EVER! :worship: :worship: Her name was Jessica and she was superb. Every once in a while you meet a CM who does a spectacular job. Someone who really captures your undivided attention, who draws you right in, no matter how contrived the script. That was Jessica. She was this cute, tiny, blond haired girl with an Aussie accent. Plus she was an acrobat and a well versed speed talker. When she would look right at you, you could feel yourself squirm. I started thinking, like a kid unprepared for class, "Oh NO, please don't pick me" :scared:

She took a boy, who looked between 8 and 10, and had him drive the boat. Then she somehow got the boat to swerve and did this exaggerated mannerism where she almost turned herself upside to simulate a near miss fall. It was very funny. She did the same script as Sunday's JC captain, but she was 10X better. Loved her. I hope she is destined for great things, because she was super talented.

I have had two other CM's who really stand out in my mind. One was a girl, years ago, who took us on safari. The other was a girl who was the gangster on the GMR. Funny how my three most memorable CM's were girls! :dance3:

After JC, we stopped and got some hot chocolate. Now I have heard some bad things about the hot chocolate from posters on the DIS boards. In fact, that is my biggest recollection from the posts I have read about MVMCP - the hot chocolate is too watery. I can't tell you how many times I have read that. Oh yeah - and the cookies are stale. :confused3 Silly, picky people - the hot chocolate was fine, not too hot, not too cold, not too watery, not too thick - just right! The cookies were good, too. Trust me, I had alot of hot chocolate and cookies that night. I may have eaten healthy for dinner, but I made up for it later!

I may leave off here, because I actually have a picture to go along with what I want to say next. I will just say that we rode several more rides in the next hour. It was amazing. I have never seen rides so empty!

So, here is my 1st impression of the Christmas party - If you need a ticket for a night in the park and you want to just ride everything - WOW - I think you can almost do it. Despite a sold out crowd, the rides were amazingly empty. :thumbsup2

It is funny how empty the ride lines are at those parties!! even if the parade route looks like a mosh pit:rotfl2:

I'd be tempted to do a party just to ride rides too:goodvibes

Looking forward to the pics! thanks for all the great SSR ones:hug:

Hey P:

That is so true! And that is exactly what the parade route looked like, a mosh pit, even at 10:30.

I'm glad you liked the SSR pics. It was a little overcast that afternoon, so they are not as blue as I would have liked. But I know you can fix that, O Maker of Great Pictures!!!!! :worship: :worship:

I have a few more SSR pics that I took on check out, so I will post those soon!

And party pics should be coming tonight, if I can keep myself from falling asleep!

Awww, you are so sweet!

We had a great time with NO LINES at MNSSHP. We rode so many things, it was a lot of fun. We even got a POTC boat all to ourselves which was very, very nice.
