A park commando trip report. Pre trip part 1.

I thought I might as well admit it up front. Hello, my name is Haley. I am a park commando.

Well I am sitting here avoiding house work, and realized it was about time to start my trip reports. I have been planing this trip since July or so. I found the DIS at some point in November and that is when the big time planing, obsessive compulsive Disney on the brain phase began. This Disney obsession is not new. I check the Disney Store on a regular basis now that it is my only local access to the magic. So much so that I know they get special offer faxes Wednesday mornings, and often have special offers on top of the regular special offer on Wednesdays. Sometimes only for a few hours. I don’t know if that is a local deal or a national thing, so don’t get mad at me if your Disney store does not have special offers on Wednesdays, please.

I come by my Disney obsession naturally, I inherited it from my Father. My Dad used to do a great imitation of Donald Duck and drew a pretty good Mickey too. He also taught me to make family vacations a budget priority. He took the six of us on a two week family vacation every year of my childhood. We went to Disney World in 1973?, I remember he planed our trip before the park opened, but I am not sure when we made it. I was five or six, I think. We went again shortly after EPCOT opened. When I was 15 we moved to Southern California and for the next ten years I spent as much time as possible in Disneyland. Now, back to the trip report, I tend to digress sometimes.

It seems to me that there is a long standing tradition here on the DIS of starting out by introducing the cast. So here goes.

Me-HaleyB around here, just Haley at home. 30 something. I wear something with Mickey on it at least once a week.

My Husband, Steve, also 30 something. He would want you to know that he is one year farther away from 40 than I am. He has a MA in Classics (Philosophy/history/lit) and works for Apple Computer as a support engineer (I have no idea what he does). He gets to help out Disney and Pixar’s IT people, but so far no perks other than the regular paycheck. Actually that is a pretty nice perk.

My Princess Sophia, who recently turned six (and Mom keeps forgetting and saying she is five). She has inherited the Disney gene.

My younger son, Max, who is nine now. I also keep forgetting his age. I think it is denial really. He loves the parks but will no longer wear Disney clothing items unless they glow in the dark.

Stand by cast member is my older son Ryan. He is seventeen. He does not let me forget that very often. He is currently on board for this trip. That could change, if he gets an internship for this summer. He loves the parks and grew up in Disneyland. He has just crossed back into the ‘willing to wear Disney clothing’ zone.

Perhaps I should warn you now that I tend to get a bit long winded. If you are quick, you already figured that out. I think I already pointed out that I tend to digress sometimes. Also I like to point out the obviouse. I also tend to repeat myself. While I am in a confessional mood I should also mention that I spell like a seven year old. I know that because I spell slightly better than my six year old, but not quite as well as my nine year old. I am also a novice photography buff and avid scrap booker. I work five hours a week for an elementary school as a crossing guard and volunteer about fifty hours a week as PTA Vice President.
This is getting long and I have not actually gotten to the pre-trip trip reporting stuff yet. I guess I will have to do this in installments.

Recap: Our cast, Me, my Husband, Daughter (6), Son (9), and Son (17).

Up next, our slightly aggressive plans for WDW. Don't hold your breath it may be a few days.

Cute! Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to the report!

Can't wait to read more ~ Thanx for sharing.

LOL about the 17 year old who now wears Mickey stuff. I have been Ebay bidding on retro disney t-shirts for my DS15. (ever since he saw an old picture of his dad wearing one from when he went to Disneyland in the 70's).........but I digress...........

Love your introduction to your family and your style!

Also love trip reports--and pretrip reports--in any fashion available. Long winded is preferred, though! ;)

to hear someone else confess. My 12 y.o. DS (will be 13 in 1 month..Oh God)and I are leaving tomorrow for our 1st WDW trip. I know, kind of late in life, but better late than never. Also my DB and his DG, and my girlfiend w/ her two DS's will be going as well. To the best of my knowledge this is a first for almost all of us. I decided in late March to go...I have clocked more hours on the net since getting my first computer 7 years ago. I have researched more than I did in college. I have read more WDW books and used two legal pads and a number of post-um notes, too numerous to count. I have paid for sites related to Disney, downloaded, gotten so many login user names that I have to look them up to go to discussion boards. I have even given this information to other 1st timers on other boards so they can see the resort pictures on this board. Bare in mind (my spelling is questionable also) that this bright idea of mine just started 3 months ago. I cannot tell you how many take out meals we have eaten, clothes pilled up, dishes piled up. I do take my bills to work to pay them since I don't always have net access there and cannot get on. Obsessive, well I don't see it that way. I refer to is as well informed! Yeah, that sounds better. Compulsive, well I have to get my theaursaurus out for that one. All of this was to say you're in good company. Mona:smooth:

Pretrip part two just posted. We are almost out the door now.

Thanks for reading! This is a fun way to get my memories down on 'paper' for my scrapbook. I am only three years behind on my scrapbook right now, so I am sure I'll get around to this trip really soon.

Haley.

I can see I am going to really enjoy reading your trip reports. ;)

Bumping this, working on it again. My hard drive crashed and I lost what I had so need to find everything here and see where I need to start...
