We braved the 4th!!! AND the rain...and the crowds??? 7/1-7/8 BOOKED NEXT TRIP!!!!

Lol, looks like holding Tom hostage worked

:yay: Yay for F&W next year and from the looks of your dates we might be there too on our Disneymoon, we must meet up if that is the case, go for some margaritas ;)

That would be great!! You know how I LOVE the 'ritas!

Or she could try a sneaky maneuever and come this year instead :rotfl:

That would have to be a veeery sneaky maneuver to put THAT off!

That's funny-I just received that booklet, too, and you are right, it just pulls you right back in!

It really does! I read through the whole thing last night....

Day 2 cont.
July 2, 2010

So since we had gotten so much done that day, and the plan was to stay for MSEP and fireworks that night, we decided to leave earlier than planned to relax before dinner.

After some time with Stacy, we got ready and decided to go have a drink by the pool bar.

On the way...
(I LOVE POR btw! So beautiful!)

YES! I am wearing jeans! And I even put that sweater on...you'll see later in the MK pics. It wasn't really cold, but I wasn't hot AT ALL in jeans and I probably would've been chilly if I put shorts on.

So we got to the bar and I ordered a mango margarita and Tom got...

I don't remember what it was called! But he didn't like it!

So as we sat, we decided to play a rousing game of "disney categories." Basically, one of us picks a category and we take turns going back and forth naming things in that category until we can't think of anymore.

I picked first so, since we had just seen Toy Story a couple of weeks before (and I think we may have been discussing it) my category was "Names of the toy characters in all three Toy Story movies." It was fun trying to remember some of the characters from the first two movies that weren't in third.

When we exhausted all the "toys" Tom's category was "characters who sing in disney movies." You would think there's a million and it can go on forever. It was really easy at first and our strategy was to stick with a movie at a time and name each character that sings in that movie but we couldn't believe it when we couldn't think of any more!

Anyway, it was fun and it helped pass the time until our ADR at Boatwrights.

We got there a little early and the restaurant was pretty empty. We were seated right away and the hostess asked us where we were from. When we told her NJ, she said, "Oh...there's a lot of shows about NJ lately." Our response was, "Yeeeah, most of us aren't like that...." :rotfl:

We were very excited about our cornbread so two pieces are missing from this basket!

ry%3D480

I got the DELICIOUS prime rib!

ry%3D480

Tom got the Pork Chop.

ry%3D480

After dinner, it was back to the bus stop to the MK!

As we walked up Main Street, right away, I saw that a pigeon had roosted on Walt's head! From far away, I thought he would be long gone before I had a chance to get up there and take a pic but he stayed! He loved it!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

And we got some photopass pics with the bird! (see, my sweater is on!)

ry%3D480

I love how in the first pic, the photog made us blurry and focused on Walt and the bird. I think that's so cool!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

We hung around the hub a little, looking at the statues....

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

That bird was STILL there!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

See the sky? It wasn't raining but it might!! It really stunk to know that it could rain at any second!

We wandered over through Adventureland....

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

We rode Pirates for the second time that day and when we got off I just HAD to take a picture of the wait time. PEOPLE, this was like 8 o'clock on a Friday night! And not just any Friday night, but the Friday night of 4th of July weekend! I would have NEVER thought I would see a five minute wait on anything! Even some guy walking in who saw me take the picture said, "I know, can you believe it?" as he walked by! :rotfl:

ry%3D480

I think from there, we went to ride BTMRR with FPs that we had gotten earlier in the day. At this point, Tom was not feeling too well. Don't know if I've mentioned it before but he's had some pretty bad back and neck pain lately and it really bothered him this trip. :sad2: It was really too bad because he didn't get to do a lot of the stuff he usually does. Anyway, I think this ride on BTMRR really screwed him up even more!

So we continued to wander after that....

ry%3D480

At this point, it was like 5 minutes before the first showing of the MSEP was about to start and we made the stupid STUPID mistake of crossing the hub from Liberty Square to Tomorrowland. Oh my goodness, there were soooo many people just STOPPED in the walkways. CMs were telling people to keep the walkways clear but they just wouldn't budge. It was nearly impossible and once we got through, we felt like we had run a marathon!

We took another ride around the TTA to relax a little but I think that experience just ruined us for the rest of the night and by the time we were walking from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland we decided to just turn around and leave. We were going to see the fireworks at the dessert party and I guess it wasn't THAT big of a deal if we missed the parade............

Up Next: Day 3 - AK in the morning!

That bird on Walt's head is sooo funny! He must have thought Walt's hair looked like a nest! :lmao: I can't believe some of the wait times for the rides. :confused3 Sorry you missed the MSEP...hope you caught it later in your trip. Is Tom feeling better since you got back home? I'll send some pixie dust his way to help! pixiedust:

Your dinner looked DELISH! I love your pics at the MK. I can't believe that the wait time was 5 min for Pirates :woohoo: We typically vacation at the Christmas Holidays and we NEVER see wait times like that. Perhaps 4th of July is the time to go (although you'd never see me in jeans and a sweater in July :goodvibes)

looking forward to AK popcorn::

Congrats on your next trip! That's the time I want to go next year too, for MNSSHP and Food and Wine! :woohoo:

I'm so glad you love POR, I'll be staying there in November and I love reading good things about it! :cool1:

I love the pictures with the bird on Walt's head, so cute! :)

I HATE trying to get anywhere when a parade or fireworks are going on! I wish people would be more considerate and leave a small pathway, but I guess it's not possible, considering everyone wants to see! :confused3

Can't wait to read about AK!

yay another update :goodvibes

but ... more importantly...

ANOTHER TRIP!! :cool1: that's so exciting!! I would love to go again during F&W festival... I bet you could do a MNSSHP too?! :rolleyes1

Emma princess: x

Isn't it so cute! I was sooo happy he stayed there for a pic! He could've been there all night, for all I know....I'm sure the crowd for MSEP scared him away!

Dinner was really good! I've stayed at POR many times and have never eaten in the restaurant.

I mean, based on this trip, it looks like the 4th of July is the time to go but I'm still leaning towards it being a freak thing!

Congrats on your next trip! That's the time I want to go next year too, for MNSSHP and Food and Wine! :woohoo:

Yes we went just once and it was so fantastic to do both!

I'm so glad you love POR, I'll be staying there in November and I love reading good things about it! :cool1:

In my 20 some-odd trips to WDW, I've probably stayed there more than any other resort. Put in a request for a building because you can get stuck in the middle of the woods but overall, it's really just a great place! And I'm so glad we got to try the restaurant this time.

I love the pictures with the bird on Walt's head, so cute! :)

It was the coolest thing!

I HATE trying to get anywhere when a parade or fireworks are going on! I wish people would be more considerate and leave a small pathway, but I guess it's not possible, considering everyone wants to see! :confused3

Ugh, isn't it the WORST!!! Even with a 5 min wait for pirates, there still managed to be a complete mod scene in the hub!

Can't wait to read about AK!

I just found your TR and I'm working on catching up!

It rained like that when I was in MK in March...walking around all drenched just waiting for an ADR. It definitely looks like you made the best of the rain!

Love you TR so far! It's helping me get more excited for our trip in Aug!

We really enjoyed Boatwright's during our last trip in May '09, and looking at your picture, we sat at the same table! We're going back this trip, so hopefully its just as good.

And living in NJ, I know what you mean about all of those 'New Jersey' shows...

Oh we could DEFINITELY do MNSSHP! I'm sure it's probably Friday night. We went last year around the same weekend and the party was on that Friday.

Thanks for joining! The rain really is a downer!! We did make the best of it. :thumbsup2

So glad I could help get you excited!

How funny that we were ate the same table! I would definitely eat there again next time we stay there. :thumbsup2

Another great update!! There is just something wrong about that bird on Walt's head!!! Can't wait for AK!!

Yeah, the bird was so weird! I almost didn't want to leave the hub because I wanted to see how long he would stay!

Just found your trip report and really enjoying it. Congrats on your anniversary. DH and I celebrated our 18th and 20th in DW without our kids and it was wonderful. Too bad about the rain, but if it keeps the crowds low that can be a good thing. I also loved all the pictures. I need to take more at our next trip in March.

Looking forward to the next installment.

aww poor Tom, hopes his back is feeling better now.

Oh and so your telling my you and Ellen are not like the Real Housewives of New Jersey? so disapointed was hoping to see you all duke it out one day LMAO (jk)

btw I love how YOU take pics.. your poses are adorable almost Vanna White like :) !

Woohoo, another trip to look forward to! :cool1: When we were in Disneyland shortly after July 4th, I wore jeans most of the days we were there! Unlike the weather in the northeast back home, it was high 60s, low 70s almost every day! So when I saw your jeans, I can relate!

That would be great!! You know how I LOVE the 'ritas!

:yay: would be v cool if we could. I spoke to Disney yesterday as when I went to look at prices for next year, the room we wanted wasn't there any more, so I rang them and they said there was availability and she gave me the prices. Now I really want to book something now as I don't want to loose out, but DF is trying to hold fire for now. But who knows, might be booking something very soon :teeth:

Love your update, shame you didn't get to see the fireworks, but at least you would see them at the Dessert Party, the update I am eagerly awaiting BTW :teeth:

That bird looked like it was set for the night, love how the PP Photographer took pictures with the bird too

Glad you are enjoying the TR!! The rain stunk but I have to assume that is the reason the crowds weer so low so that's fine with me!

We take TONS of pictures! We didn't take nearly as many as we normally do because of all the rain.

Haha, sorry, no! Most of us are NOT like that at all! I mean, I have the jersey accent going on at times, especially when I get mad!

Vanna White! Haha!

It was probably like high 70s that night so most people were in shorts but...I brought my jeans, I'm wearing them at least once! Plus, I get soooo cold in the AC if it's not really hot outside....

Oh I would be nervous about it too, if I were you! I would try to convince Dave to book now!

Dessert party isn't for a few days so you'll have to wait!!

Wasn't that bird so funny?!

 That pigeon is my favorite! I can't believe he sat there for so long! That's just the sort of thing I would have taken tons of pictures of, so I'm pleased that even the Photopass photographer did! :rotfl:

Hey Nikki - I just found this. It was great seeing you on the 3rd!
