We braved the 4th!!! AND the rain...and the crowds??? 7/1-7/8 BOOKED NEXT TRIP!!!!

What a fun day!
I had the same experience New Years Day at Epcot - it was raining so it was DEAD!!

What a great MK day! I guess the rain is good for something - low crowds and awesome character greetings! :goodvibes So awesome that you got pics with Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters and with Mary Poppins, Bert, and the penguins (I've never even seen the penguins in other people's pictures, let alone in person!)! :thumbsup2

Hiya! Just browsing at work and came across this, better late than never huh? Going back to catch up now :D

I am enjoying your trip report!! Too bad about all the rain!!

Thanks! Yeah the rain was a bummer!

I love a rainy park day--so many people skip the parks and I've never figured out why? We grab ponchos and go enjoy the walk-on rides!

Yeah skipping the parks was not an option! We just made the best of it and the lower crowds made it seem not so bad!

What a fun day at MK! :cool1: I LOVE the Mary Poppins and Penguins picture! I want to find the penguins soooo bad, but the only one I ever see is Mary, and I've only seen her in Epcot! :confused3

The bakery looks amazing...I can never convince my DH to go there because there is always a huge line and he refuses to wait! :rotfl:

We saw the penguins once randomly in World Showcase but to have them all together was awesome! Yeah, the bakery has always been crowded when we go by too, that's why it was the perfect plan to go there immediately after rope drop!

My favorite thing about rain at WDW is the lack of crowds!

:thumbsup2 The ONLY good thing about rain in WDW is the lack of crowds!

I had read that the crowds were low that weekend, but WOW! I guess that's the one benefit to all that rain.

I know, it was unbelievable! Wait til you see my pics from the 4th!

YUM! That cinnamon bun looks heavenly. :cloud9:

And it's so weird to see the Magic Kingdom that deserted. In July. :rotfl:

I love the pic with Mary Poppins, Bert, and the penguins. I've never seen them all together before. Great idea, Disney employee who thought of it!

It was reeeally weird to see the MK that dead. Especially when we were expecting shoulder to shoulder!

What crowds on July 2. and still rain. Loved the soft opening video's. Can't wait to hear more.

Yup...still rain! Glad you liked the video! That's new for my TRs but hopefully everyone is enjoying them....even though they are all warped!

looks like you had a great time despite the weather.. so glad to see that! Love the Cinn Rolls from Main Street too thats usually my dinner LOL

Hahah! I definitely didn't eat the whole thing. That's why I only had french fries for lunch....well chili cheese fries but still!

Wow, does that cinnamon roll look good!:lovestruc

It was as good as it looked! We have a tradition on early AK mornings to stop at the Tea stand and get a frozen cappuccino and a cinnamon bun but the one from the Main Street Bakery is one hundred times more delicious!

What a fun day!

That's crazy! I just don't understand that!

I've wanted to meet Lady Tremaine and the stepsister ever since they "came out" a few years ago. Because it's usually so crowded, we either never see them or the line is waaay too long! Yeah, the penguins are rare too! To see them all together was such a find!

Hey Dave! We're only halfway through day 2 so you didn't miss much!

Yay all caught up now.

What happened to all the sunshine? Can't believe all that rain, but from what I have been reading you guys were having such a blast :goodvibes

Love the video of the CM's singing the Beatles to you guys, so cute :cutie:

Cinamon Bun!!! It looks so delish, can't wait to grab me one of those in September, is it nice and soft?

I like how they have moved the tree to outside Pooh's ride, wonder when the boarding will come down.

Great PP pics, love the balloon one :)

Looking forward to reading more popcorn::

It looks like it was kind of drying out at MK - you guys did take off the rain jackets - at least for a few photos! And what a find on the characters - I've only seen Mary Poppins but never the others and certainly no pics with them. Very cool!

I think your theory was RIGHT!! I know the rain was a drag, but the total lack of crowds when you were expecting it to be the opposite was AWESOME!!!

Your pics are all really entertaining- you are SUCH a goofball, Nikki- I just love you!! :thumbsup2

I also wanted to say that you will one day make an AWESOME Mom- man, are you ever prepared for a rainy day with the extra flops and a towel! I bet my kids wish they had YOU for a mom! I forget EVERYTHING!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm in! We were there at the same time!

Happy Aniversary! :goodvibes

Yay!! Thanks for joining!

Sunshine did come eventually...just wait and see! Oh, I just LOVED the CMs at Rose and Crown singing! Luckily, they sang to a honeymooning couple earlier so when they brought out our desserts, I had my camera ready! Only was able to get a few seconds though.

I like the new location of Pooh's tree too. I have no idea when the walls will come down but I can't WAIT for the new Fantasyland! Especially the Be Our Guest restaurant! :thumbsup2

ok up to speed.

Yeah, the rain was on and off. It was either raining or it looked like it could rain any second so we still had to carry our rain jackets at all times!

I didn't realize what a find it was to have them all together! I even got a pic of JUST them! So glad I did!

It really was awesome that the crowds were so low. BUT we didn't want to get our hopes up so we kept telling ourselves, tomorrow will be super crowded! Once the weekend comes, the crowds are coming!

Glad you like my pics! We really LOVE to take pictures! We would've taken way more if it wasn't for the rain.

Aww, thanks for the "awesome mom" comment! I am an over-planner!! I shop for a month before our trips, we bring travel size everything and we don't use HALF of what I bring...but even after all these trips, I still have to bring it JUST IN CASE! I've been teaching for 7 years and I did 6 years of summer camp before that so I think that has something to do with it!

I just decided!

So OF COURSE, when I have not even the thought of a future trip to look forward to, what comes in the mail but this beautiful booklet all about the Food and Wine Festival this fall.

Obviously, we usually go in the summer because of my job but twice we managed to take a long weekend trip (I took 2 personal days!) and we went in Feb/March and last time, in early October. Well the October trip was my first experience with Food and Wine and for those of you who know how Tom and I do World Showcase....we were in heaven!

So a while ago, I looked up the dates for Rosh Hashannah (we get off school those days) for the next 6 years and they all fall on either Mon/Tues or Thurs/Fri which is just perfect for a long weekend trip to Disney!

Now this year, it falls very early in September, which is fine because we wouldn't be going back so soon anyway, but next year it falls on the 29th and 30th AND on my beautiful pamphlet that I got in the mail, it has the dates for next year's Festival....which begins on the 30th!! PERFECT!!

So I just held Tom hostage in the living room, (he was trying to get into the kitchen to get a drink!) until he agreed that we can for sure go then! He was not answering at first and I kept saying, "Just say we can go! Just say it so I have a trip to look forward to!"

:rotfl:

WooHoo!!! You will get to make a new countdown ticker!!! :cool1::banana::cool1: There is no better feeling than when you get to start a "new" countdown after a trip!

Definitely! Although, I won't start my ticker until it's booked, which probably won't be for months and months from now. I don't want to count down until it's official!

Good luck on the booking for next year! It's very important to have another trip to look forward to!

Cheryl

I'm in...and Happy Anniversary!!! It looks like you guys are making the best of the rain...can't wait to see more! I've always wondered how crowded/what it's like...especially on the exact day of the 4th!! You guys look sooo happy!!

I think so too! I'm very happy to have even just a thought of a trip!

Yay!! Thanks for reading!

Just you wait and see! There will be plenty pictures from the 4th!!

Lol, looks like holding Tom hostage worked

:yay: Yay for F&W next year and from the looks of your dates we might be there too on our Disneymoon, we must meet up if that is the case, go for some margaritas ;)
