Hello everybody my wife and i purchased our first DVC we purchased 110 points at the poly. First trip will be the first week in december 2015 cant wait, when i tried to book the only thing available was Saratoga springs for a studio. is there something going on that first week in dec that i dont know about. from what i am told it should be a slow time of year to go

If you google it, you'll find a bunch of threads. Here's one from 2014: http://www.disboards.com/threads/whats-considered-peak-dvc-times.3241480/

A DVC member can reserve at the resort he owns starting 11 months out and then at any other DVC resort at 7 months out. Scope of demand for DVC is measured basically by how fast rooms fill after the 11 month window opens and then what is left at 7 months out. Particularly for any near park DVC resorts, it can become difficult to get anything if you wait any time beyond the 7 month window before trying to reserve much of the year. Measured by things being gone even before the 7 month window opens, DVC's highest demand night at WDW is NYE, highest demand week is first week of Dec, highest demand month is Dec, second highest demand month is Oct, third is Nov, highest quarter is end of Sep to the Monday after marathon weekend in Jan, The rest of the year, including all the holidays from mid January to latter part of Sep, is basically DVC's off season at WDW when even near park resorts can be fairly easy to get at 7 months out with the exception that certain categories of high demand rooms that are low in number are often gone before 7 months out even during that off season (AKV club level and value, BLT standard view, BWV standard and boardwalk view, and likely studios at VGF)

I'd call your guide and see if they can pull some strings and get you a studio at Poly.

Thanks for the reply this is very good info. I just booked our second trip for the first week in feb 2016 and have the Poly for it. I will call my guide and see if he can pull a magic string for us. The only reason i am not so keen on SSR is the bus trip to MK. I have a 4 year old that can be a pain on buses at times.

from what i am told it should be a slow time of year to go

as noted above, slow times at the parks are not slow times for DVC bookings.

see if your guide can do something special (i.e. this one time only) for you but if you are not past your recission date, do some research on the DIS boards to make sure you made the right decision...

OP: :welcome:Home and much pixiedust:
Just wanted you to know:
DVC highest usage time of year is mid-Sept through mid-Jan.
DVC high usage time of year is mid-Jan through mid-Sept except around any holidays when it returns to highest.
DVC is designed to be booked 98% capacity every night of the year.

Congrats!:welcome: Welcome to DVC. You must be very excited. If you can in the future book your vacation right at the 11th month mark for your home resort the Poly and if you want to stay at other resorts try changing over right at the 7th month mark for the best success.

I countacted my guide and he is trying to get us into the poly for our first trip if that dosnt work out he said he might be able to get Bay Lake Tower crossing fingers that he can work magic

How long ago did you buy in? If you want to travel the first week of December, you should really consider the fixed-week option. You'd have to buy 130 points, but you'd get that first week of December guaranteed.

OK my final update on this my Sr Vacation Club Guide was able to get us into Bay Lake Towers lake view for the 1st through the 5th.

Good going! Glad your guide could make something happen. I love BLT, even though I am not into it's decor. You will be able to go to the Top of the World lounge and watch the fireworks (unless you luck out and get one of the lake views that also gives you a partial view of MK). Walk to and from MK. See some nice sunsets from Top of the World. Hang out on the nice little beach that is beyond the hot tub. Rent those little boats with a DVC discount from the dock at the Contemporary. Take a boat over to the Wilderness Lodge to enjoy the Christmas decorations there and there is a wonderful signature restaurant there, Artists Point. A wonderful time to be at Disney. If the weather is not nice, do a monorail crawl and visit the Poly and GF....their decorations are pretty cool too.

Congrats and Welcome home.
