at the san clemente inn... has anyone been there... what is it like would like to have stayed closer to Disney but it is an anniversary gift from my in laws..

San Clemente is 45 min. to an hour from Disneyland - more during peak hours. Is the total purpose of your trip to go to Disneyland? Or are you visiting family? If it's JUST to ggo to DLR, maybe there is a polite way to thank your in-laws for their kind generosity and ask if they would mind if you stayed closer to the Park?

my kids have never seen the beach.. so we are going to spend a couple hours at the beach on are arrival day the 14, spend the 15 doing something probably drive the coast. then to disney on the 16, then on the 17 the hollywood area.. and 18 disney again and then the last day 19 show my kids walnut ca.. were i grew up. and maybe leave calif. after that. i would nt might being closer to dinsey..

We really like the beaches in San Clemente. We used to live in south orange county and would often go down there if we wanted to go to the beach. I know a lot of people on the boards seem to like huntington but we prefer san clemente. Usually we just went to the beach with a group and did a bbq/picnic or something but one time we ended up at a good seafood reastaurant. I wish i could remember the name of it but we only went the one time.

Have a great trip!

We love San Clemente! It has a very charming downtown area (the stores close really early though) The beach is nice. If you are looking for a good restaurant our favorite is The Rib Trader! Best ribs ever. Your kids will love the little pier and playing on the beach. If you were just going to DLR then it would probably be best to be closer to Anaheim, but since you are doing other things, San Clemente will be a nice home base. Not sure how old your kids are, but San Clemente is about 30 minutes from Legoland. Enjoy!!!!

That's where my grandparents would take my sister & I when we were little; the accomodations were lovely, but the beach was the main attraction! And, oh, the sunsets :cloud9:

Not sure if I'd want to use it as my "home base" for a Disney trip, though...it'd be an awfully long drive to/from the Park.
