First of all, please don’t call me unlucky because it has nothing to do with luck and please mods don't delete this post because I am not the only one in the case.

When I started playing VMK again this month and saw the new pieces, I was thinking that it would be a cool idea if there was a contest organized, I told that to one of my friends who told me to contact VMK, well I did not have to do it, since VMK had the same idea as me and they posted that they were organizing a contest. (I am not telling that VMK took my idea, I am telling that I was happy because finally, one of my dreams in VMK came true!)

I was more than happy so I really started to think of the best idea I could have and worked to gather credits.

I waited for the day that they would announce the day that we could start to register for the contest. That day came yesterday but ... When did they start the opening of the registrations? The day they announced they would start to open them and not at the opening of VMK. Do they really think that everyone is a no life, no sleep and watching the VMK homepage all the time until when the registrations are opened? All I wanted was something fair, something were everyone had a real chance to be able to register even if it is limited. Something like this : VMK announced the opening of the registrations the day before the registrations start and the registrations were opened and at the opening of VMK..

Yesterday, I am sure that some people registered mules to be able to get more than one participation prize, and some real people who put time and heart into willing to participate are left on the corner because of the way the registrations were made.

I actually contacted VMK to tell that I was disappointed by the way the registrations were made but I would never have posted this if some people living in the USA were not actually in the same case as me.

I know how I reacted this morning; I was sad and really mad at VMK. Now, imagine kids/teens who were waiting like me for the registrations and were not able to be on VMK during 1:00 am GMT+1 and until when the end of the registrations.. and who were really wanting to participate and put time into starting to build ..

We are only a few days until Christmas, ... VMK released such awesome pieces this month but what they did yesterday is just unfair.

Thanks VMK for this awesome Christmas gift ! (This is irony of course)

I'm sorry you didn't get in.

But you know, if they opened the registration in the morning then the people who would have been disappointed would have been thousands of kids who would have been in school at the time. They could have opened registration on a weekend but there is a limit to how many rooms they can judge so somebody is going to have to be left out no matter when they did it.

I hate to think your spot in the contest is probably occupied by somebody's mule. I imagine there are a lot of mules registered for the contest and that really isn't fair. But then again I don't know what anyone can do about it.

Maybe we need another DIS building contest.

I am sad, not for when they opened the contest, but I fear your right that many of the people who entered the contest, entered more than once :(

I am sorry Kasiks you didnt get in

I think Pete is right. We need another contest.

Yes, a DIS contest sounds wonderful.
People who signed up mules should be ashamed. I barely even got my own in. i got it wrong twice.

Im so sorry. if you need anything from stores, let me know, i always have extra credits in the bank.

I am so sorry to hear this. It was a surprise how quick they posted the details for everyone to register and thought about all those who would miss it if they did not read the newsletter.

It would be really sad if individuals have entered their mules into a the contest. Lets hope that if there are mules in the contest they do their best to identify these people. Not sure how, because families (including mine) have three players who are active on one IP.

I agree another contest is a great idea. :thumbsup2

WOW that is sad if people entered mules. Though I must admit the thought crossed my mind only because I have a few good ideas and not sure what one to use. But the reality clicked in and I thought no that is not fair. Because so many would love to enter. So I only have one entry. Guess it comes to those people who have a conscience. And sadly many do not.

I think a Saturday time would have been fair. Also letting people know a head of time. To make arrangements to be able to registered.

But they probably knew that and did not want the system to explode with 2,000 people trying to registered at once.

Hey what might be cool is to have teams of East US, West US, Central US, Canada East and West Coasts, UK and other countries. Since it is time zones that messed so many up we could have the battle of the time zones :)

And since we will all be in the same time zones commincation would be good.

I would be willing to Captain the Canadian Team. Our own mini Gingerbread Olympics :)

Sweet! I think there's only 2 of us. :lmao:
Lets have a headquarters in Toronto.. second thought.. at the Pickle Barrel near the Eaton centre in Toronto XD

I'm in total agreement with you.

When the contest was first announced, I posted numerous questions to this board and another. I was told just to wait and see. I thought it was rather rude of veteran players not to explain past aspects of the contest. No one was willing to tell me anything. I wondered what was so top secret that they couldn't share how the ride contest worked, for an example.

Well, I found out yesterday.

Of course this put them at an advantage. I would have checked the homepage daily, if I knew that there would be a registration process. No one wanted to pass along that a limited number of players would get to participate. The only reply I ever received from my posts were a "wait and find out". :confused3 Not very friendly, imho.

VMK should have given details days in advance and posted a no mules rule. They could have easily set a rule of one avatar per email address. That would have stopped most mules, but not family members (most family members have different email addresses)

I am sad you were not able to register. And anyone who did put a mule in the mix should be ashamed. I am curious to see if and how vmk responds to you.

Glad to see Aengus and the dis crew are creating a dis contest for those who are unable to be registered.

OMG I was on all day yesterday and I saw nothing.. You'd think that VMK would have made it a bit more "PUBLIC".. I'm quite disappointed.. But dumbo me I missed out on the Christmas Gifting last year bc I couldn't figure out where in the contact us now pop up window I was suppose to enter the ppl I wanted to gift.. I guess I'm one of those ppl who really needs it not only spelled out in black and white but up right under their nose... :rolleyes1

Hold on just a minute.

I didn't see your question but I really don't believe that anyone withheld information from you in order to give themselves an advantage. "Wait and see" is a valid response because there was no reason to believe it would be done the same way this time as last time. Everyone was waiting to find out, including the veteran players and some of them were caught off guard by the short notice just like you.

I'm in total agreement with you.

Actually, not all family members have different email addresses. If a child is under a certain age, they have to use their parent's email address to sign up.
Also, Most my my own mules have different email addresses. So, if I had wanted to, I could have signed up over a dozen mules.
Like Belle, the thought of using a mule crossed my mind for about 1 second., But then I quickly dismissed it as it would be unfair to others and I simply don't have the time or desire to do 2 rooms.

I do think that those that used several characters to sign up are pretty pathetic. I feel sorry for those that feel the need to prevent others from participating and steal virtual items from these people.

Also, Halloweenqueen, no one could tell you exactly what would happen because VMK seems to change things constantly. I can't remember for sure, but I believe that the last contest was an open enrollment. I seem to recall that there were more than 2000 people entered. This is probably why they did limit how many can enter.

I also agree with KrazyPete. if they'd waited until this morning, many kids would have been in school and many adults would have been at work (including me). I should have been info given farther in advance. But, as stated, it then would have the system flooded at that time.

They do need to limit how many rooms they can judge. There was just no way to do this better.

Actually, I have no problem with the disboarders, my problem is with the way VMK announced it .. I did last year space race well we had time to register like one week. I totally understand that hosts had a big job to do butis that so hard for VMK to be fair and let everyone the same chance to register even if there are limitations .. As for now, I dont even feel like going on VMK .. I mean I just hate that game and the way they announced that the registrations were opened.

Also, I did not mean that they should have opened the registrations at the opening of VMK, that was an example, I mean advertising a few days before which day and when the registrations would open would have been better in my opinion to be fair to every players.

I also dont think anyone tried to get an advantage over anyone. We did have to wait and see. I would have missed it myself if I hadn't recieved a message on yahoo as soon as I logged on there from a friend telling me.

I know at one point I told people to wait for the rules before doing anything, and it was the best advice I could give at the time, because we just never know what they are doing. I have always said VMK's biggest weakness is the lack of communication they give us, and I stand by that.

I know this stinks, believe me I get it. I just hope you dont think I or any DIS member tried to keep anyone out of this. I wish there was more I could do. I would give up my position in the contest if it meant one of you who were so looking forward to it could have it. Honest. If anyone at VMK wishes to take me up on that, please do.

I agree about the few days notice. Then players who would be sleeping during the registration time could arrange to either 1. set and alarm clock lol or 2. have a trusted friend register for them.

I thought of my friends travelling back from WDW and would have registered them for I know they would have wanted to participate. But I did not have the needed info. I am sure they will be disappointed too :(

:lmao: I have to say for the record, I know this is a child's game after all, but...

it would have been fun to be part of the contest.

No hard feelings towards VMK or members. I understand why they limited the registration and why members would have been unwilling to share their experiences.

It just reminds me of dreams month when certain people had inside information. I don't think it brings out the best in VMKers.

I'm sorry, but you're not getting it. There was no reason to share any experiences because they constantly keep changing everything. As stated, there were no limits on registration for the last competition as there are now.
We also had no idea when they would start registration or how long it would last. Last time they gave us notice and gave us a week to register.

Having the previous information would not have helped you in any way to get into the competition this time.

All of us veteran players have learned to adopt a wait and see policy because of VMK's constant changes in everything. And if we miss out, then maybe it means we actuall have a life. ;)

Personally, I think that's far better than any virtual prize given by VMK. :)

I agree with you 100% , maybe us veterans should have been more clear to the newer players that when we mean wait and see, we mean wait and see but watch like a hawk?

I truly am sorry if any of the newer players misunderstood any comments I may have made by saying wait and see. I meant what cteddiesgirls is saying by the comment.

I do have to correct a couple of things others have said.

there was a limit of 2000 on the last individual competition (space mountain). I wish I would have thought to say that in a thread prior to all this happening.

When the contest was announced yesterday there was a thread answering ALL kinds of questions.
If I had seen your question I def. would NOT have said "Wait and see"
Vetrans of VMK and Dis have just as much of a chance getting in, or not getting in to the contest just like everyone else.
VMK told us about 5 minutes before the registration opened that it was opening. If I had not been on at that particular time I would have missed out.
It was a chance thing that happened at the BUSIEST time of day on VMK.
Even with all the "Vetrans" here and our Mules (I didn't register Mules BTW) there is no way we were responsible for filling up 2000 spots in an hour.
Sorry it just isn't possible.
I KNOW some ppl HAD to register mules...and that is just SAD
Maybe one of you can give up your spot for someone who actually intends to compete and not just build a shack for the participation prize.

SORRY!! THIS WAS POSTED BY DISNEYCHICK74! DIDNT REALIZE HUBBY WAS STUILL LOGGED IN!
