After a whirlwin trip to Disneyland for 5 days we are now annual pass holders. We want to book for a april trip! Any inside scoop for the newbies?

Lori

p.s. we stayed at the PP Suite concierge and were not impressed! is concierge at DH or GC any better?

The breakfast is not a big deal to us. but we stayed at the Poly in July and would love a concierge set up like that!
At the PP there was only uncrustables that the kids would eat and they hate those. They had one hot appetizer everyday and theywere cheap fried items. Then there was a cheese platter, salsa and tortilla chips and then just some deserts that looked like they were from our deli sections in the grocery store. Nothing fabulous or outstanding. they had the wine and beer but with the small kids we did not indulge. and honestly they did not have a lot except chips in a bag and some goldfish and trail mix in the afternoon.
We want some variety!

Personally, since I have been an annual passholder (20 + years) I would NEVER stay onsite (though the convenience is wonderful). For offsite hotels, I would recommend Desert Inn and Suites (closest to main gate), Candy Cane Inn (private shuttle to parks), Hilton Anaheim (best roomservice ever), or Portofino (Kids Suite is WONDERFUL). Book these hotels through Hotels.com or Priceline. Don't use the Disney website and you will save major $$$.

we stayed at DLH concierge and the hilton concierge. . . we prefer the hilton. . . having decided to splurge and do DLH concierge we expected more and were disappointed from the moment we checked in.

we have done priceline, hotwire and a lot of the times we can get into the hilton cheaper from their site with the discounts they have on theirs. . . the one thing about hilton concierge that was a huge difference LINENS. . . the bedding is much nicer and the towels are much nicer and they provide you with two robes to use during your stay. . . AND your "goodies", the shampoo, etc. . . they give you double those in the concierge level.

Get registered to the AP part of disneyland.com. They detail the discounts and special offers there. Through that site, for Yule, I was able to get the POTC3 2-disc set for the usual price, AND I got a special keepsake picture of the Asian ship, a coin, and a bit of the Asian ship's sail. It was a special they were offering APs at the park on the release date of POTC3 DVD, but ordering through DelivEars through the AP section got me the same deal.

Also you'll get a newsletter/magazine thing, I think it's once a quarter, and this last one there was a lovely $20 off $100 purchase coupon. Since I don't have the Premium which gives a discount on merchandise, it was VERY helpful!

If you're into pins, unless they run out, some restaurants offer a special pin for every $30 you spend there. We got cute ones at Blue Bayou for the Fall quarter, and looked forward to the Winter pins, but they were already out when we went in December. :( And you have access to AP-only pins that you can buy at the parks.

Those are my AP tips. :)

oh cool, ill be one next oct and that sounds awsome, congrates on you'll first ap.

Do not forget to ask for your AP discounts when buying food. I think that a lot of people forget to ask.

Oh definitely!

We found two places that asked "are you an AP holder?"...one was Tomorrowland Terrace, and I can't remember the other. But every other place I had to ask.

Alas, the discount does not include Royal St Veranda or Burr-Bank ice cream. :headache: Since the veg. gumbo at RSV is my fave food at DL, that just bugs me! :)
