to WDW (is there any where else). When? Well, here's the insanity part... June 26th through July 5th! Major crowd time. (We have never been in the summer or during major crowd time). But we wanted to go with our friends, and this is the time that they can go (she's a teacher). And since he works for the US Gov't, we're staying at Shades of Green, which should be interesting (right??).

Don't know how we're going to pull this off budgetary wise, but we will (time to dump out that change jar).

Only reason we would cancel would be if something comes up adoption wise. So either way -- we win!

So pass the suntan lotion and the advise on how to stay sane at WDW in the midst of the summer crush!

We were there that same time in summer 2003. We visit a lot so felt no need to wait in lines for attractions. We soaked up lots of atmosphere and enjoyed a slower paced trip. If we wanted to do the attractions, we got up early and did them when the parks opened and then left by 12-12:30 to go back to the hotel for a relaxed lunch, pool time and nap time.

You'll have fun!!

See you there!!! We went to WDW for the opening of the Beach Club Villas in July 2002. Believe it or not, we checked out on July 4th and flew home. This time, we're staying at BCV again, but this time from June 27th through July 6th. So we won't miss out on any of the fun this year. Keep an eye out for lime green ribbons.

We usually go in the summer and love it. In fact, we're going in 27 days and I'm wondering how the "winter" will be. There's something about vacationing in FL in the summer...the heat, the crowds...I know it sounds crazy but I like it. We do things smart. Go to the parks in the a.m. - go back to your resort for a swim. Return in the evening.

Use Fastpass.

In the summer the parks are open late - which is an advantage you might not have thought about.

The attractions are heavily air conditioned.

You'll see tons of kids having fun...we don't have kids so it's kind of fun to watch.

You'll love it!

Good for YOU!;) I went in June of 2002, and while it was crowded it also rained the whole 3 days I was there! So, pack the Ponchos and the Sun tan lotion!;) I did fast-pass and was able to ride all rides with little or NO wait!

Towncrier, I don't need a lime ribbon to know you! Now that I've met you, I'll find you! :)

I'm sure we'll have tons of fun. (How can you not have fun at WDW?). I'll need to take that mid-afternoon break/nap (yea, yea, I always say that and never follow through). And maybe this time I can actually use the pool!

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. Lucky you to stay at SoG! It should be great, assuming it actually opens;) . We stayed at SoG a few years ago and I thought it was very nice. The rooms were huge, at least as big as the Contemporary (which we just stayed at through SoG!) and everyone was very friendly. It was cool walking around and seeing all these military families enjoying time together knowing that without SoG they'd probably never be able to stay on property. You can also shop for souveniers at the commisary! WAY CHEAPER!!! We would pick up $1 bottles of water on our way to the park!

As far as hints, I second the "bring your sunscreen". Apply often and liberally. Drink lots and lots of water, get those little mister fans at Wal-Mart before you go, bring hats for everyone. And of course, USE FASTPASS. Growing up in Fl, we ALWAYS went in the summer. I have to say that it was much more crowded over this past New Year's than I ever remember it being over the summer.

We were there July 17 - 25, last year. Bring Brita water bottles! Water in the parks is horrible. Used lots of sunscreen and drank lots of water while we were there. Looked forward to the afternoon showers to cool off!!

We are booked at SoG for this coming December. Our first time there. Looking forward to seeing all the holiday decorations!

Ya'll have fun!

Going in the summer time is awesome. I love going in the summer I know it be hot crowd and the parks is open late. Bring sunscreen, powerade, water don't try to see everthing take it nice slow and you will enjoy it. I love going to all the shows in the parks. Me and mom love this we do alot stuff in the off pecks times in the summer. Why everyone is watching the parade at 3:00pm. go ride there will be no lines for them because everyone is watching the parade. Eat at off pecks times like 11:00p.m. at night.

Go have fun this summer. I going July 1- 5 this year and taking family with me and it's me be crazy.

We've been in the summer each of the last 4 years, late June or early-mid July. I second most of the suggestions--sunscreen, water, take the midday break!!!--use fastpass and get to the park at open if there is something you have your heart set on riding quickly.
You do get extra hours in the evenings. And your budget shouldn't suffer too much because I hear SoG prices are excellent! My BIL who is now in Iraq went in 2002 (I think) with my SIL and their two oldest and they said it was very convenient to everything.
Enjoy your trip! We are cruising this summer so no WDW until 2005! (I think....)

As long as you don't go for more than 2 hrs without going on Kali River Rapids you'll do great:earsboy:

I think it's great that you are getting to return to WDW so soon. With careful planning you will be fine. Don't worry about the summer crowds, you're a DISer, you can handle it :teeth:

Katholyn, I KNOW I can handle it! (What DISer couldn't? ;) ).

And I haven't ridden Kali River Rapids in years since it's always too cool. Maybe in June wet undies will be a plus! ;)

Maybe in June wet undies will be a plus!

Don't forget that wet undies in June will stay wet all day long in the Florida humidity. Ewwww. Been there. Done that.

I think we were there the same week...only one sunny day out of 7, but I'll take a rainy day at WDW over a perfect day anywhere else!
