Good morning everyone! Before I continue with the TR, just wanted to give you a quick update about our next trip!
Remember how I was agonizing over AKL, and if I should switch resorts? Well, switching finally won. Although I'm sad to not stay at AKL, I know I definitely would like to try it someday, I'm really excited to now be staying at...THE BEACH CLUB!!!
I just couldn't resist! The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to be close to Epcot, to walk to the Food and Wine festival, and I really wanted a beachy, relaxed feel to this vacation. I wish the Beach Club had hammocks, but the swings they have on the beach will work just fine! I considered the Yacht Club and Boardwalk, but somehow, the Beach Club won!
Of course, this IS me we're talking about, and over the next 7.5 months, things can change! I've had this trip booked since January 3, and I've already changed the dates twice and the resort once, so...we'll see! I wonder if I can ever just book a trip and leave things the way they are!
Going Home Again!
Day 6, 11/17, part 3
So I had just gotten soaked yet again on Splash Mountain and had to go to Main Street to buy a new tee shirt, which of course, took forever, because I couldn't decide on one. I finally got a cute Christmas tee, which you won't see me in any pictures of until my MVMCP updates, since I wore it there!
Once I was changed and semi-dry, we went back to Fantasyland AGAIN, and used our Peter Pan FP's. LOVE that ride, it's so much fun, I love rides where you feel like you are in the movie!
We then walked over to Winnie the Pooh to see if it was finally open, and it was!
Unfortunately, the walls were still up around the new queue area, so we didn't get to see it.
It was only about a 15 minute wait, so in no time we were traveling through the Hundred Acre Woods! I got my picture of Pooh's butt sticking out of the tree, which I guess is something I have to do every time I'm on this ride!
Once we finished with Pooh, we weren't sure what to do...Brandon suggested Hall of Presidents again, so I agreed, since I said no our first MK morning! We went over to HoP to find that the show had just started, so we had a while until the next show. So where did we go to pass the time?
Adventureland, of course! To go to...
for...
Dole Whips! Well, these are the citrus swirl kind, not the official pineapple dole whips, but still...soooo good! I do like the pineapple, and I really want to try a float, but I can never seem to pass up the citrus swirl!
Finally it was time for HoP, so we made our way over to Liberty Square and watched the show. I love HoP, but it always makes me so tired! It's so cool in there, and quiet and dark...nice place for a nap! I don't think I fell asleep this time, but I know I have in the past...
We were getting pretty hungry after HoP and were wondering what to do for lunch, when Brandon reminded me how much I wanted to visit the Wilderness Lodge on this trip sometime, so he suggested taking the boat over and eating at Roaring Forks. I thought that was a great idea, so we made our way out of MK to the boat area and waited for the boat to WL!
(For those of you who don't know, WL holds a special place in my heart...Brandon and I stayed there in November 09, after a particularly hard time in my life, I sometimes feel that that trip and that resort saved me in some ways, and we also got engaged there on that trip so it will ALWAYS be my favorite resort!
)
We got on the boat and enjoyed the peaceful ride over, and I just took everything in...it reminded me so much of our 11/09 trip, and I loved just looking at the water, seeing the Contemporary up close...finally we were there!
I walked slowly on the path to get from the boat to the lodge, just to appreciate the beauty of that area...I love these walkways in the woods
They remind me SO much of where the Ewoks live in Return of the Jedi! (Yes, sorry, I am a Star Wars dork!)
We hung out by the pool for a little while, and I took some pictures, even though I have a lot from when we stayed there, you can never have too many of your favorite resort! Here are a few:
We finally made our way inside, and instead of going to Roaring Forks like we planned, Brandon wanted to go to Whispering Canyon instead...I was kind of looking forward to a quiet lunch, but ok, WCC can be fun, so why not!
Of course, he had to stop at the fireplace for a few minutes first, he loved that fireplace when we stayed there!
Finally, we made it to WCC, where luckily there was no wait, because I was starving by that time!
Our server was very nice, she played her role of...I don't know, what exactly are they going for at WCC, rude and annoying?
Well, she did that, but in a nice, non-annoying way!
We both got burgers, the lunch menu there is very limited!
The burgers were pretty good, and I when our server noticed I finished my Coke, she asked me if I wanted "a little more Coke" and brought this out for me
I think I was supposed to be bothered by such a small cup, but since I love small cute things, I was thrilled and kept saying how cute it was, and how I wanted to bring it home! It seemed like she was a little confused by my reaction!
Once we were finished with lunch, it was time to leave our lodge. I called this chapter "Going Home Again" because I really felt so at home here when we stayed here, and when we visited again on this trip, it felt like we never left. Someday I'm going to stay here again, I considered it for our October trip, but I'd rather stay for Christmas, when the tree is up and it's a little cooler outside!
We took the boat back to MK and immediately walked over to the monorail
and went back to POR. It was a fun, but exhausting day, and we still had another park to go to, and dinner at DTD!
Up next...change of plans!
