We All Want a Jar of Hunny!~A Nov. 2010 TR! *NEW October PTR 4/4, pg 42!!!*

Glad you liked the Polynesian! It's been years since we've stayed there but all of us agree we want to go back some day. I'm hoping that if my sister gets accepted into the College Program we can go visit her and stay at the Poly (hopefully with a nice CM discount)...I can dream right? :)

The Poly is so beautiful! I hope we get to stay there someday, there is just something about it that makes you really feel like you are on vacation, you know? It just makes you want to stop going so fast and relax! I hope you guys get to stay there again! :thumbsup2

The Poly is my dream resort as well. It is so darn expensive though! Your 'Ohana meal is making me hungry, can't wait for my next meal there!

I know, the Poly is ridiculously expensive! If only they would bring back the 4/3 deal! I can't wait to go back to Ohana, I'm so getting my own bread pudding this time!

Great update!

The Poly is my favorite! I was fortunate enough to stay there for one trip (only thanks to my parents!), and it is by far my favorite resort.

I haven't eaten at Ohana for dinner, only for breakfast, but all this talk of the Lapu Lapu and the bread pudding definitely make me want to go there for dinner.

Thanks! You're so lucky to have stayed at the Poly, for now, I can only dream about it, but hopefully it will happen someday! The only thing I think is weird about it is...no hot tub! :confused3 I think that is so strange, I'm sure they could find a little corner and stick one somewhere!

Definitely try Ohana for dinner, the lapu lapu and bread pudding make it SO worth it! :woohoo:

The Polynesian is my dream resort, too. Someday, we'll stay there and eat Tonga Toast every morning.

Sitting in a hammock, with the Castle in the background sounds perfect! :goodvibes

I'm finally all caught up!

Brandon and I have always been a little scared of the teacups, but for some reason that day I said "can we go on those, just this once? I promise not to spin the teacup!" To my surprise, Brandon agreed, as long as I really didn't spin the teacup!

 OMG the teacups make me so sick! If we don't spin the cup, just the basic ride is too much for me. I think it's definitely visual though because Mission Space doesn't bother me at all!

When I came out, he was waiting for me and telling me to hurry up and come look at something. We went out to the bridge and Brandon said "do you see who is walking away?"

Mickey and Minnie! Can you see them, off in the distance?

how CUTE!! and you're right...ONLY IN DISNEY WORLD!! LOL

Next up was Mickey's house, where Brandon proceeded to lean too far over one of the gates and set an alarm off...

:rotfl2::rotfl2:
Like others have said, I didn't even know you could do that! Too funny!

We finished up in Mickey's house and wandered around Toontown for a few minutes, before we decided to take our first ride on the train!

In 2008, we seriously rode the train around the park like 6 times in a row...just around and around! It was nice to just sit!

I love that window, I just noticed it for the first time on this trip!

I read about it one of my Disney trivia books but I always forget to look for it when we're there!

BAD idea! Remember how wet I got on our first ride on Splash a few days before? I got absolutely drenched this time. The water seemed to be pouring into our log, it was really high, it didn't seem normal! Every single inch of me was soaked. As I was walking out of the ride, I heard someone say "oh look at how soaked that girl is". Thanks.

This reminds me of two things... in 2007 we went on Splash and I got stuck in the front row. When we hit the bottom, I don't know how it happened, but this huge stream of water just sprayed me right in the face...like think about if you sat in front of a fire hydrant and someone just opened it full blast. That is literally how it felt. The 2nd thing is my poor sister...she was leaving school one day when it was snowing and kind of icy. She slipped and fell and some kid came running over to her and was like "Oh my God are you OK? Everyone saw that!" :rotfl2::rotfl2: She was like "wow...thanks...."

I tried not to let it bother me, but I was so wet it starting to get to me.

That happened to me one year but on the Backlot Tour! I just have this knack for picking the seat that will end up being in the direct path of enormous waves of water....and of course, my pink shorts were see-thru when wet...:rolleyes1 So I had to sling my backpack as low as possible to cover my rear and run into a store for new clothes.

Remember how I was agonizing over AKL, and if I should switch resorts? Well, switching finally won. Although I'm sad to not stay at AKL, I know I definitely would like to try it someday, I'm really excited to now be staying at...THE BEACH CLUB!!!

I want to stay there really bad! It's just so expensive to stay at a Monorail resort!

IMG_2094.jpg

Dole Whips! Well, these are the citrus swirl kind, not the official pineapple dole whips, but still...soooo good! I do like the pineapple, and I really want to try a float, but I can never seem to pass up the citrus swirl!

hmmm...i usually get the vanilla but I may have to try the citrus swirl next time!

Finally it was time for HoP, so we made our way over to Liberty Square and watched the show. I love HoP, but it always makes me so tired! It's so cool in there, and quiet and dark...nice place for a nap! I don't think I fell asleep this time, but I know I have in the past...:rolleyes1

I love HoP...I somehow manage to stay awake during it, although I know a LOT of people use it for a napping session! Although I did fall asleep on HM so who am I to talk? :rolleyes1

We were getting pretty hungry after HoP and were wondering what to do for lunch, when Brandon reminded me how much I wanted to visit the Wilderness Lodge on this trip sometime, so he suggested taking the boat over and eating at Roaring Forks. I thought that was a great idea, so we made our way out of MK to the boat area and waited for the boat to WL!

Yay! What a great idea! Good job, Brandon!

when our server noticed I finished my Coke, she asked me if I wanted "a little more Coke" and brought this out for me

IMG_2112.jpg

omg it's so cute lol

September WDW hours are out!!! :cool1: :woohoo:

Can't wait for October hours to come out, and then my ADR day will be just around the corner!

I'm still waiting for some kind of PIN so I can book! We can't go if we don't get some kind of discount! And I don't blame you for wanting to start your PTR...I want to start one and I don't even have a confirmed trip yet!

Another quick October trip update-I switched back to Animal Kingdom Lodge!!!

I know, I was so excited for the Beach Club, so why did I do that? Well, as soon as I switched, I started to regret it. I love BC, but I have already stayed there, and I don't want to start repeating resorts yet! Staying somewhere new is part of the fun of a Disney vacation! And Brandon and I watched the Travel Channel Disney show that was on over the weekend, and he told me how he was so excited to stay there, so I felt bad. So I told him I would switch back! And AKL is much cheaper than BC, and I like having a ridiculous amount of spending money in Disney World! :confused3 So much that I'm even thinking of changing to a mod...but I'll wait a few months for that!

You know, it's funny because when I price out a trip for us to stay at AKL it's over $5000 and it kills me that that's the CHEAP end of the spectrum! Staying at ANY Deluxe would be a dream come true for me!

Originally, we were going to go to Animal Kingdom evening magic hours, it seemed like it would be fun to ride EE in the dark!

But all day, I kept feeling like I needed to go to Epcot! I don't know why, I just wanted to be there. So I asked Brandon if he minded going there instead, and of course he didn't, since he loves Epcot! So that's where we were off too instead of AK!

EE at night was definitely the best! You should go to AK for EMH at least once and give it a whirl!

we browsed around the Art of Disney (which is SUCH a cool store!!)

I am determined to buy something NICE from this store! Not like the $15 character sketches...like a REAL painting! We're planning to buy a house next year so I would love to have one of these to display!

and then of course, I suggested checking Soarin for FP's, and amazingly, they had some left! So we got FP's and then checked the times board right outside of Soarin, and saw that Test Track only had a 10 minute wait. We were never big Test Track fans, in fact, I'm pretty sure we skipped it on our Disneymoon all together, but since there was practically no wait, we wanted to give it another try!

Lucky ducks! We never have that much luck! TT is always like an hour wait and Soarin is usually 80 minutes or so with no FPs left! If we don't get them first thing in the morning, we don't get them!

All in all, I liked Fulton's, but it was really expensive! I thought it was going to be just a one time thing, but I guess not! Brandon wants to go again on this trip!

I always wanted to try it but my BF doesn't like fish at all so it's a no go for us!

We decided to go to Earl of Sandwich again for breakfast, it was great, as usual! I really love EoS for breakfast. I wish Disney would use a different brand of tea though, I'm not a big coffee person, I drink tea every day, and that Twinings tea is terrible! :confused3

I love Eos! Seriously, I just flat out love that place! And don't worry, the coffee on property is terrible too!

We made our way over to TrenD
which is another one of my favorite stores, but I've never bought anything in there! There is just so much to look at and choose from that I can't just pick something!

We fell in love with D-Street when we were there. So much fun stuff! And my BF found this awesome hat that was on clearance for like $10 (as opposed to like $30!) We had a lot of fun in there chatting with the CMs about the old school Disney Afternoons!

Finally we ended up at World of Disney

If this store wasn't so dang crowded I think I would like it a lot better! I always find a ton of stuff I want in there but I hate pushing my way through all of those people!

And I love the way it smells in Basin but I never buy anything either!

I love how tropical everything is, how perfectly themed the Poly is, everything fits together so well!

Brandon eventually went off by himself for a little while to hang out on a beach chair, and I just...relaxed! It was amazing, it was the first time on this whole vacation that I just stopped thinking about what time it was, and what we had to do next, and relaxed!

OMG I am OBSESSED with The Poly! I just can't stop looking at pictures of it! Again, it's just so expensive...even with a 40% PIN it would still be like almost $2000 more than staying at a mod. And my BF is totally against a split stay for some reason...I keep trying to convince him and he just isn't having it! Maybe some day! :cloud9:

When we got up to Ohana, it was a madhouse! It was probably 4:45 at that point, Ohana wasn't even open, and there were just mobs of people waiting outside! There was even a line to check in! We finally checked ourselves in, and got a buzzer and found a seat.

It's ALWAYS like this! If you don't get there at least 15 minutes before your ADR time, you'll check in late by the time you get up to the podium. And somehow we always end up getting the "we're running behind" speech and we end up waiting for 20 - 30 minutes past our ADR time to be seated. It drives me nuts but I love Ohana (for both breakfast and dinner) so we deal with it! It is what it is!

They gave us our leis

IMG_2179.jpg

(I do have a picture of me with my lei, but it's terrible!)

Hey! We didn't get leis when we ate there! :snooty:  And I'm sure the pic of you is FINE and you're just being overly self critical!

Everything was great, except the shrimp...that peel and eat shrimp is SO annoying! And you know what else I find annoying about this place? That woman they have walking around, singing. The games they have the kids do are fine, but I just think this woman, constantly walking around and singing and telling people to get up and do things is obnoxious!

I didn't get the shrimp when we went because I was so full off the wings (which were my favorite part!). And when we were there, it was a guy singing but he was really good! Not annoying at all! We actually really enjoyed having him out there!

Finally...they brought out dessert...the bread pudding! :worship:

It is THE best dessert I've ever had, anywhere, in my entire life. It was so good that I want to go back to Ohana, just for that.

ITA!! I think I may have said the exact same thing on my PTR! THE. BEST. DESSERT. EVER.

Hope you made it to MVMCP in time to get in line for the Dwarfs!! I know you really wanted to meet them!

I agree that the Poly is a dream resort! It really is very immersive. That's the way I feel about the AK. Although the theming is different, the experience is totally immersive. That's why I think you'll like it there, even if its not your beloved Poly.

What I love about the Poly (and all the resorts) is you can always visit and u can always find a spot on the beach. I had so much fun pool hopping there.

Glad you loved your meal. Fighting over the dessert? :rotfl: You guys are too funny. Beautiful view! Def worth the wait.

I love your explanation of the Poly, you really did a perfect job! Those are the exact reasons that I love it too! But I agree with the PP that you'll love AKL for the same reasons, you're totally immersed in another world.

Also, I wanted to say that two of my friends and I registered for the Wine & Dine half marathon so we'll be at WDW Sept 30 - Oct 2 so our trip overlaps with yours! Maybe I'll see you there! We haven't picked a hotel yet though...

I have to respond to your comments in your post, otherwise I'll get totally lost!

I'm finally all caught up!

Yay!

 OMG the teacups make me so sick! If we don't spin the cup, just the basic ride is too much for me. I think it's definitely visual though because Mission Space doesn't bother me at all!

I'm surprised the teacups didn't make me sick, but if we spun them the whole time, they probably would have!

how CUTE!! and you're right...ONLY IN DISNEY WORLD!! LOL
:rotfl2:

Like others have said, I didn't even know you could do that! Too funny!

In 2008, we seriously rode the train around the park like 6 times in a row...just around and around! It was nice to just sit!

The train is so cute! It's going to be sad riding on it and not having the Toontown stop, though. :sad1:

I read about it one of my Disney trivia books but I always forget to look for it when we're there!

This reminds me of two things... in 2007 we went on Splash and I got stuck in the front row. When we hit the bottom, I don't know how it happened, but this huge stream of water just sprayed me right in the face...like think about if you sat in front of a fire hydrant and someone just opened it full blast. She slipped and fell and some kid came running over to her and was like "Oh my God are you OK? Everyone saw that!" :rotfl2::rotfl2: She was like "wow...thanks...."

Splash is annoying me! I love that ride so much, but now I'm terrified to go on it! :sad2:

Oh, your poor sister! :( I used to be the dork who fell all the time...I can't tell you how many times I fell walking around campus when I was in college...so embarassing! :rolleyes1

I want to stay there really bad! It's just so expensive to stay at a Monorail resort!

No more Beach Club for us. :( That lasted a whole week! Brandon is really set on staying at AKL! Which is fine, because I'm getting really excited about staying there! :woohoo:

hmmm...i usually get the vanilla but I may have to try the citrus swirl next time!

If you like creamsicles, you will love the citrus swirl dole whip!

I love HoP...I somehow manage to stay awake during it, although I know a LOT of people use it for a napping session! Although I did fall asleep on HM so who am I to talk? :rolleyes1

Have you called to see if you have a pin attached to your name? That's the only way I found out I had one! I felt stupid for asking, but I'm glad I did!

You know, it's funny because when I price out a trip for us to stay at AKL it's over $5000 and it kills me that that's the CHEAP end of the spectrum! Staying at ANY Deluxe would be a dream come true for me!

I don't know how anyone affords deluxes without 40% off! It's crazy how expensive they are! Hopefully they will come out with more general public discounts for rooms and you can stay there too! That would be great if we were neighbors. Although, if they extend free dining into the fall again, there is always the chance I'd switch to a mod!

EE at night was definitely the best! You should go to AK for EMH at least once and give it a whirl!

I definitely want to try AK at night sometime, I just wasn't feeling it that night! :confused3 I'm happy we went to Epcot, it was so much fun!

Every other time we looked at the wait time for TT it was over an hour, but we usually have pretty good luck with Soarin! Now I'm getting nervous for October crowds! :scared1:

I always wanted to try it but my BF doesn't like fish at all so it's a no go for us!

I love Eos! Seriously, I just flat out love that place! And don't worry, the coffee on property is terrible too!

Haha, I've heard Disney coffee is terrible! EoS is so amazing, I seriously cannot wait for the one in NYC to open! I'm gonna be there every weekend for a month! :rotfl:

We fell in love with D-Street when we were there. So much fun stuff! And my BF found this awesome hat that was on clearance for like $10 (as opposed to like $30!) We had a lot of fun in there chatting with the CMs about the old school Disney Afternoons!

Yeah, there's no way I could do the Poly either, unless it was a short trip, and if I'm staying at the Poly, I want to be there for at least a week! I'm not to interested in a split stay either, it seems like too much of a hassle!

It's ALWAYS like this! If you don't get there at least 15 minutes before your ADR time, you'll check in late by the time you get up to the podium. Ugh, really? Brandon doesn't even want to go back to Ohana, so I can imagine how annoyed he would be if we have to wait that long to be seated! He said he wasn't impressed with the food, but I really think he just does not like the singing lady! :rotfl2:

Hey! We didn't get leis when we ate there! :snooty:  And I'm sure the pic of you is FINE and you're just being overly self critical!

You didn't get leis? I thought they gave them to everyone! Maybe they ran out by the time you got there? And ugh, my picture was terrible, trust me! :upsidedow

I didn't get the shrimp when we went because I was so full off the wings (which were my favorite part!). And when we were there, it was a guy singing but he was really good! Not annoying at all! We actually really enjoyed having him out there!

ITA!! I think I may have said the exact same thing on my PTR! THE. BEST. DESSERT. EVER.

I'm seriously going back just for that dessert. Because I can get better steak and chicken other places in WDW, but that dessert is totally worth it! The noodles and wings are good too! :thumbsup2

Hope you made it to MVMCP in time to get in line for the Dwarfs!! I know you really wanted to meet them!

We did meet the dwarfs, but it wasn't exactly easy! :rotfl2:

Glad you loved your meal. Fighting over the dessert? :rotfl: You guys are too funny. Beautiful view! Def worth the wait.

Yay, I'm so glad you think AK is like the Poly! Not the theme, obviously, but just feeling like you are somewhere else! I really think I'm going to love AKL, I'm excited about staying there! :thumbsup2

I'm definitely going to visit again and hang out on the beach, that is a must do now! :rotfl: I'm hoping to watch Wishes there one night!

We were seriously fighting each other with our spoons, pushing them out of the way to get more of that dessert, it was ridiculous! When all we had to do was ask for another one!

I love your explanation of the Poly, you really did a perfect job! Those are the exact reasons that I love it too! But I agree with the PP that you'll love AKL for the same reasons, you're totally immersed in another world.

Thanks! I can't wait to be at AKL, it seems like it is going to be really peaceful and relaxing! I wish there was a beach and hammocks somewhere, but that just gives me another excuse to visit the Poly! :woohoo:

Yay, that would be fun if we ran into each other! I'm actually thinking of getting myself into shape and running the 5K that weekend, but we'll see how that goes! I'm not a runner at all!

Ugh, I'm so mad at myself for being away from the DIS for so long! I'm so sorry I missed so many updates! :sad1:

It was fun catching up and reading about your changes in plans for your upcoming trip! I'm excited to see if you make anymore changes! And yay for September hours being up! That makes it seem even closer!

Wow, our time at the Poly was so similar to yours! I fell in love when we got there and begged John to stay there if we get to come in June for our anniversary! I loved the tropical atmosphere!

Okay, I have to go grade papers but I promise I'm back on board! I can't wait to read about the party! :)

I can't tell you how many times I've suggested to other DISers that they call CRO to check for a PIN attached to their name and yet it didn't even occur to me to do it! I have always gotten emails so it never crossed my mind!

I'm on hold right now....:rolleyes1

It's ok! I've been wondering where you have been, you've never been away for this long, I was gonna text and see if everything was ok, but I didn't want to bother you! :goodvibes

Something tells me I'll be making more changes before our trip gets here, still 7 more months to get through! I can't wait to make my ADR's, only like 38 more days! :rotfl2:

Isn't the Poly so amazing! :cloud9: I hope you guys get to stay there if you go in June!

Hope to see you back soon, and update your TR! :upsidedow

So, what happened? Did you get one??!!! :rolleyes1

I only skimmed your last update since I'm at WDW right now, but your talk about the food at 'Ohana is making me really excited about our reservation tonight!

I can't believe you're at WDW right now, I'm so jealous!!!

I hope you love 'Ohana and that you spend some time at the Poly! It's like a different world over there, I love it SO much! :lovestruc Hope you're having a great vacation, I can't wait to read your TR when you get back! :cool1:

Heigh Ho!!!

Day 7, 11/18, Part 3

After our fantastic couple of hours at the Poly, we were ready to go to the Christmas party! We took the boat from the Poly since the monorail was broken, and got there in a few minutes. It's a nice boat ride from the Poly to MK, but I have to admit, that water is a little eerie at night!

We got our wristbands and walked entered the Magic Kingdom right as the party was officially starting. I wanted to stay and hang out on Main Street for a little while, see the snow and everything, but I was on a mission-I had to see the 7 Dwarves!

I stopped quickly to try to take one of those artistic balloon shots that everyone gets and this is what I ended up with

IMG_2188.jpg

I know, not so good! I didn't want to get too close, I felt kind of stupid taking a picture of the balloons. :confused3 I wish I did get a little closer, because they looked so pretty, all lit up at night!

We basically ran to Fantasyland to find the Dwarves and immediately saw a huge line already waiting for them!

I know how Brandon hates waiting in line, so I told him it was ok, we didn't have to see the Dwarves, I could see them another time, and asked him what he wanted to do.

"We can wait, I know you wanted to meet them" is the answer I got!

We quickly got in line before it got any longer and prepared for the wait. We chatted with some people in line and listened to other people's conversations. You ever notice everyone in WDW thinks they are WDW experts? :rotfl: There was a lot of that in this line! The family in front of us was very nice, they had a little girl who was dressed as Snow White and when it was her turn to meet the Dwarves, they acted so excited to see her, it was really cute!

We were almost there

IMG_2192.jpg

and I was so excited! Ever since I found out the Dwarves would be at MVMCP, I knew I had to meet them! After about 48 minutes, it was our turn! They were so cute, it's weird seeing so many characters at once though! I really wanted to see Dopey, but I didn't want to individually greet them all, so I just ran over to one side, and Brandon went to the other, and we took our pictures!

Photo0050FourBySix.jpg

I actually like that picture, another one I want to put in a frame someday!

Once we finished up with the Dwarves, I didn't really have a plan for the night, other than wanting to see the parade and Holiday Wishes, and that wasn't til much later in the night, so we had some time.

We went to Pinocchio's Village Haus to get hot chocolate and cookies, and it was my first time in there, it's so adorable! I love how you can see IASW inside! The hot chocolate was good, but the cookie was awful, it was salty and really hard, so I threw it away. I felt bad, but it was really gross! :confused3

We just kind of wandered around for a little while and looked for characters, but every one we saw had a huge line. It's weird, the party was pretty empty, but the character lines were SO long! It's like that's the only reason people were there!

We found ourselves in Toontown

IMG_2195.jpg

and figured, why not go see Mickey and Minnie's houses again?

IMG_2196.jpg

IMG_2197.jpg

So cute with the Christmas lights on!

I then remembered something I read on the DIS...how Mickey and Minnie were in their cute Christmas attire, and doing meet and greets TOGETHER this year! I figured I was pushing my luck, asking Brandon to wait in another line to meet more characters, but I went for it anyway...

"Do you mind if we check how long the line is for Mickey and Minnie, they're together this year, you know".

Surprisingly, my answer was "I guess, but I don't see what the big deal is, who cares if they're together?"

Whatever, he doesn't have to understand why it's a big deal, we were off to get in line!:woohoo:

Coming up...was the line too long to meet Mickey and Minnie?

yay for an update!! I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one to update tonight!

We did not wait for Mickey and Minnie. We didn't even go to toontown! My dad is fine with characters but he'd rather it be at a restaurant than stand in a line. I'm all for that as well (he raised us right! food + characters) but Xmas clothing is totally different. If I were with friends, it would have been different and we would have gone to see them!!

I can't believe you waited 48 mins for 7 D's! That is a true character trooper!!!

Ahhhhh.....Cute picture with the 7 Dwarfs. I have to admit, that is probably longer than I would have waited, but it is a great shot!

I love your balloon shot. I love the nighttime balloons. They are so cool. You just have to zoom in until all you see is balloon, then take your picture. It seems weird the first time you do that, but the results speak for themselves. Still, in all, a very pretty shot.

So - Exactly HOW long did you wait for Mickey and Minnie??????

I'm so glad you ended up waiting for the dwarves! Your picture with them is great! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about the rest of the party! popcorn::

So, what happened? Did you get one??!!! :rolleyes1

The girl at CRO told me that there IS one attached to my account, but I have to call next week. She couldn't tell me anything about it, and couldn't even give me a specific day to call back...she just said "call back next week." So, we'll see!

YAY!!!!!! You got to meet the Dwarfs!! Great pic, too! I'm surprised about the cookie you had though...when we went (back in 2006, mind you) they were just regular sugar cookies and they were really good!

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your night!!

The only reason we went over to Toontown was because I wanted to see the houses with the Christmas lights on them, and then I remembered about Mickey and Minnie together! I guess this is why people do more than one party during a trip, I never understood until that night, you waste so much time in lines for characters, and there is so much else to do! I really think I might have to do 2 Halloween parties in October, just so I can see everything and meet all the villains! :)

LOL, I had to meet the 7 Dwarfs, and I knew if I didn't get in line early it would be a long wait! Ohana probably wasn't the best choice for a pre-party dinner! At least I know for next time! :rotfl:

Love the picture of you guys with the seven dwarves! That's reason enough to go to MVMCP.

Thanks! I loved seeing the 7 Dwarfs, they were all so cute! I love how Sneezy actually acts like he's sneezing between pictures!

Awww, your picture with the Dwarves is so cute! :lovestruc

Thanks! I can't wait to see them again at the Halloween party! :woohoo:
