We all know what we love: but, what do we NOT like about Disney?

Thank you Leighe, you summed up resort cost very succinctly. Companies are in business to make money, first and foremost. If we pay the price, they will set the amount, just like any other business. Do cell phone companies need to charge us so much? Probably not, but we pay it, and they get it. You can apply this to any business. Car dealers, car insurance, real estate. It's just up to the individual as to what they are willing to fork over, for what they want. Is it fair? Who's to say. I know DW is expensive, I'll be the first to admit it, and every overtime shift I work I must keep in mind that it will be well worth it. As you said, I'm willing to pay the price, therefore I can't complain, and I don't.

I hate complainers. If it's so bad stay home.

lol... my thoughts exactly :)

I keep hearing people say food is too expensive- where I live, lunch at Subway, the local bagel shop etc. is going to run you $6-$7. That's just as much as WDW and I'd rather being eating at WDW any day! :earsboy:

I can take the heat :sunny: , I can take the crowds :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: , I can take the lines :rolleyes1 but what I hate :sad2: are the rude, unsupervised kids and their parents who seem to leave all manners at the airport

Adding on to that! Nothing worse than Parents who do not discipline their children. Yes it's a vacation, but guess what parents...........others are on vacation too, and while you think your kids are just having fun, they may be completely driving a couple on a honeymoon crazy by running circles around their table while they're trying to have a nice dinner.

And risk the scorn of those who truly feel the Disney "Magic"? Hmmmmm...a thought to ponder.

;)

There are things about Disney I wish were different, such as prices. But, I make the choice to suck it up and pay for on-site hotel, food, etc. It's the things I don't have a choice about that tick me off.

1. Smokers outside of non-smoking areas. This seemed worse on my last trip than ever before.
2. The ere existence of buses. I understand they are needed, but boats and monorail are a much more "Disney" mode of travel!
3. Rude CM's. I have made it my mission to report each and every one. Now, I know people can have a bad day, etc., I am talking about the really rude ones. Encountered one on the Dinosaur ride. Told another CM how rudely we were treated and we were allowed to ride twice with no line wait. Reported here also for her wonderful attitude! When someone does an excellent job, I let their supervisors know how lucky they are to have an employee like that!
4. SEAGULLS! Here at home we consider them rats-with-wings, rats-with-good-PR, etc. We never could enjoy a walk through Frontierland without those dive-bombing gulls! Saw numerous people get "splatted" on the heads, arms, faces (never look up!). Only wished I had my trusty gull-hating dog with me! She has never caught one, but can get rid of a whole flock with her barking. (The local SONIC manager pays her with burgers to clear out the parking lot!)
5. The people who feed the gulls!

Thanks for letting me rant!

Wild applause!!!!!!!!!!! I definitely second that one!

The way the prices keep going up and you get less for your money.

For example: In 1974, it cost $7.50 for an adult admission/ticket book to the MK. Adjusted for inflation to January 2005, the price would be $22.80, which is nowhere near the $63.63 it currently costs. The amount of attractions that are currently available are almost the same number.

The Theme Parks are the cash cow of The Walt Disney Company. The first thing Michael Ei$ner and Frank Wells did when they took over was raise the price of theme park tickets because they realized how much money could be made. They haven't stopped since.

Yes, we can afford WDW and we do go. However, we know plenty of people who can't even afford a one day trip for their families. This was never the intent of Walt Disney nor his company until the greed of the past 20 years. I have been visiting WDW regularly since 1972 and you wouldn't believe the changes I've seen. :guilty:

That doesn't mean I'm going to deny my children the experience of WDW, it just pains me to see what it's become.

I really, really, really hate. . . . . . . . . when it is time to leave.

1. I think ALL levels of the WDW hotels should have 2 Queen size beds. Doubles are ridiculous.

2. I hate the high room prices for onsite (especially for only 2 double beds!)

3. I hate leaving!

Forgot one thing....I hate that the monorail doesn't go everywhwere I want to go! :)

I hate when it's time to ...LEAVE disney...I just HATE that part!!!

Want to know what I hate? It brings me to tears everytime, just thinking about it. When I see other people suffering the same way I will, it depresses me. I hate...I really, really hate....when I have to check out of our Disney hotel! :sad2:

The prices in the resort restaurants for mostly mediocre food.

Parents who let their daughters wear micro bikinis to the parks (I can't imagine what they could possibly be thinking?? I want grown men to gawk at my child’s body?)

The ridiculous faux security system. I could have a shotgun under my coat but the diligent security team is busy examining my 4" x 8" purse...and the fools in line all cackling about how 'it's for our own good'.

Disney's inability to remove a problem guest from a line and deal with him/her separately so that the others in the line can proceed without further delay.

But mostly it is people on forums who hop over to a thread entitled:
We all know what we love: but, what do we NOT like about Disney?
And then gush all over themselves about how much they LOVE EVERYTHING about Disney and criticize those who replied sincerely to the thread. The whole dang board is geared to cheerleading Disney – you can let one thread go – really

First of all, using this chart:

http://oregonstate.edu/Dept/pol_sci/fac/sahr/cv2004.xls

The 2004 equivalent to $7.50 in 1974 dollars is about $29. I don't know what the industry-specific inflation rate has been, but certainly WDW's competitors are within the same price ranges.

And admission now includes unlimited admission to all of the attractions, not a bunch of A tickets and very few E tickets.

Also consider that most visitors are on multi-day passes. The new MYW passes really drop in price if you go for 7 days, to $28.43 per day (without the parkhopper option).

And of course if you go for the parkhopper option, you are getting something that certainly was not available in 1974.

Isn't this birth control for the Honeymooners?? It was for us on our honeymoon. :rotfl2:

I hate only being able to have one fast pass at a time. :guilty:

I hate that the new tickets expire or you have to pay extra for them not to. :confused3

I hate pushy, obnoxious, inconsiderate people at the parks (or anywhere for that matter).

I hate when I see a parent just ripping into a little kid & making them cry. Good going there yelling Dad, THAT is what that kid is going to remember from the trip in 20 years!

I hate people who pretend they dont speak English to try & get away with something (line cutting, smoking in non-smoking areas, etc). :scared:

I hate the Brazillion Tour Groups. NOT Brazillions, just the tour groups! They are completely obnoxious & rude! They are the reasons we dont go in the summer anymore. :scared1: :earseek:

I HATE the wait between trips! I wanna live in the Castle! :teleport:

I hate that I paid $10 for three tiny tins of Princess hot chocolate that we didn't drink. Yuck. What was I thinking. My brain must have turned blonde!! princess:
