Who - Me (WDWLVR) and DH (MarkRG on the DIS). Very experienced WDW veterans. First and only trip to the World this year.
Day 3 - 12/4 Our plan this morning was to outsmart all the people going to early entry at Magic Kingdom. Since we are at the Contemporary we figured we could walk over to the busses at MK and get one after it left people off from Beach Club, ride over there and do breakfast at Cape May buffet. We saw lots of busses but they were just dropping off and then getting reassigned. We were at the Beach Club pick-up point for about 5 minutes when a driver asked where we were going. I said we were trying to get to Beach Club and he noted we could get there but had just missed that bus. He walked back to his bus and must have called it in because a minute later the person who the busses were checking in with waved one over to us. The driver asked where we wanted to go and when we said Beach Club he welcomed us aboard. So we got a private bus over. We didn't make any other stops and when he dropped us off no one else go on. Cool!
We wanted to go to this buffet because when we did it last October my DH found Miso soup on the the buffet line and he loves that. They don't have it any more
but it was still a great buffet and a good excuse to go over and see the Christmas decorations over at Yacht and Beach club.
Next we walked into Epcot and got to stroll through England and Canada with very few people around (since World Showcase was still over an hour away from opening). We walked over to Test Track and while the sign outside said 20 minutes for standby we walked right into the pre-show area.
By this point I really was toying with the idea of Mission Space. I knew DH wouldn't do it because he hates motion rides like this but I've never had a problem. He did want to see what it was all about though so we decided to do it with him being able to walk out before the actual ride. Very cool! The area you wind through is great and they give you many opportunities to bail. When it was time for the actual ride I went in and he went to the waiting area. I loved the ride and while I definately felt something I didn't get sick at all. The best news is that when I walked out to the waiting area I found there was plenty to do there and DH had enjoyed himself doing a first person video game.
World Showcase had opened while I was on the ride so we headed into there. DH saw an antenna topper in Canada the night before and decided that we was going to do antenna toppers around the world and get one from each country to add it our large collection. So while other DIS'ers may have done drinks around the world later in the trip i think we were the first to do toppers around the world.
Got one from every country with the exception of Mexico. Asked at both the indoor and outdoor locations and they didn't have any.
We went "back, back, over the falls in Norway" and then stopped to eat when we got to America. Well i stopped in America. Mark headed over to Japan to get some Miso soup and lunch. He came back and joined me in America where we enjoyed a nice lunch outside. I noticed a couple sitting a few tables away reading a DVC brochure so being the very pro DVC person I am stopped by their table and asked if they had any questions. Turns out he's a DIS'er! I think he said his name was WedinDis'00 - it was great meeting you and hope you do join DVC and we'd love to have you on the Dec. 2004 cruise as well. We spent about 1/2 talking with this fun couple and then had to get on our way.
After walking around the world collecting antenna toppers it was back to the Contemporary for a nice rest and a swim. Yes the weather this day was so beautiful that we went swimming! Since the first time I saw the Contemporary I wanted to swim in that target pool and 25+ years later I finally did it!
After that was a short nap in the room. Tonight we were going to MVMCP and meeting up with DIS'ers! We had dinner reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern for 5:45 and Mark had made arrangements with KarenNY to meet up before dinner as her and her group had 6:00 reservations. When we got there NativeTXN was already sitting on the porch. It was so great to meet Kath who has been a real inspiration to me on the WISH board. Karen soon joined us it was wonderful to meet her as well. Kath had told the couple she was sitting near that she was meeting friends she had never seen before that night and it was quite funny to see the reaction as all these hugs were exchanged.
Dinner was wonderful! Liberty Tree Tavern is one of my all-time favorite spots to eat. After dinner we got in the line for our photos and then Mark picked us up our cookies and cocoa. We went to go over by the Christmas Shop and found FigmentVI who had organized the meet! Thanks Linda - it was a wonderful meet. We had originally planned to only stay long enough to say hello and then do our usual going on rides during the first parade and view the 2nd. We were having such a good time that we stayed for the parade! Got a great Mousemeet button from TownCrier - thanks John! Got a big hug from Ray and got to see Mary (Iluvdisney) who we cruised with in February. Met so many other DIS'ers I'm sure to leave somone out if I tried to name them all! The parade was great and then we went to find a spot for the fireworks. Dan Murphy led the way but with his long legs soon left most of us in the dust. Luckily Bill (not sure of his screen name) kept him in sight and we were soon sitting in the rose garden looking at the fireworks. Fantastic (although I must admit I loved the view from our room evern better). After that it was in search of t-shirts and pins and we called it a night. We had already done all the rides we wanted and it was close to 10 pm by this time. What can I say - we are early birds.
As we got closer to the Contemporary we remembered the Electrical Light Pagent was going to be starting on the lake so we went and saw that before heading up to the room and to bed.
What a wonderful day!
