wdwgirl goes on safari...May 14-19 with tons of pics and video: final update, p. 18

Great update!

I agree with you about waiting for someone to shout out "STEVE, NO!" My DSis said it, but not very loudly. That's so awesome that you wound up getting to ride TSM on a preview day. That ride was amazing.

What a great update! I love MGM (still stuck on calling it that! ;) )... so awesome that you guys got to get into the Toy Story ride! I keep hearing that it is worth the wait, sounds very fun!
I enjoyed seeing your pictures from the boat of the Boardwalk Villas. That is where we stay... nice area to be in.

Thanks! We were so excited that we managed to be there on a preview day. It was definitely amazing. :thumbsup2

Thank you!! Yeah, it is so weird calling it Hollywood Studios instead of MGM. I'd have to say that TSM is worth the wait too but we were lucky that since it wasn't officially open the wait was much shorter! I am so jealous you stay at the Boardwalk...it's definitely on my list of resorts I want to stay at.

Sunday, May 18 cont'd (again!)

After our ride on Toy Story Mania we headed over to the Tower of Terror...I was so excited to post about TSM that I forgot to mention on our way in we got fastpasses for TOT. As we were walking over there, we caught the tail end of Block Party Bash.

Claire and I really enjoyed it. It was such a high-energy show/parade. At the end they started playing songs like the YMCA and "Celebration" and everyone started dancing. So much fun! Seriously, if I worked at WDW I would LOVE to be in this. Next trip we'll have to make sure to see it from the beginning.

So next up we went to use our fastpasses. As it turns out, we didn't even need to use them...the wait said it was 30 minutes or so but there was hardly anybody there. We walked right into the library. While we were watching the preshow, I noticed there was some guy in there eating a popsicle. I thought that was kind of weird but figured he'd finish it before we got on the ride. So we go into the boiler room and are getting ready to load and he's still eating...umm, OK. :confused3 We finally get onto the elevator and this guy's still enjoying his popsicle. The CM has everyone loaded and took a while to close the door and he FINALLY says something to this guy. To which he responds, "Oh, I was wondering when you were going to make me give it up" and proceeds to hand the CM his stick. Well, needless to say the CM was not too happy about handling this guy's garbage. It was just sort of ridiculous. Why would you take it into a ride? Maybe he thought the wait was going to be longer or something. I don't know what some people are thinking. LOL. Anyway...we loved this ride as usual. The more I ride it the more I enjoy it. I still get a little nervous before the drops but it's so much fun. :thumbsup2

Next up we went to see Lights, Motors, Action. The last time we saw this was on our trip in '06 (I'm pretty sure that was shortly after it first started there) so I wanted to see it again.

Some of the stuff they do is pretty amazing. One of my favorite parts was when they had a kid from the audience use the remote control to "drive" the car. And it's cool how Herbie makes a special appearance.

Since we all enjoyed Toy Story Mania so much, we wanted to go see if by chance they were still doing the previews. Luckily they were so we hopped on again! I'm telling you, this ride is quite addicting...you just want to get on and see if you can beat your score, which we all did. :thumbsup2 On the way out we took a few more pictures of the area. It's so well-themed! Here's what the entrance looks like:

Isn't it cute with the Tinker Toys and Scrabble letters?

I thought this sign was neat too...notice I'm in my official pose again. hehe

Claire took these pictures:

These are some of the signs they had up advertising the attraction. They still had a big wall up where the new photo spot is (I think...).

Our final stop of the day (and the trip :sad2: ) was the Animation building. In the courtyard area they had a bunch of signs/banners for WALL-E.

We skipped the show portion and just went in through the Art of Disney store. We always enjoy browsing in there. We got to see a few characters:

n20305212_33510357_3709.jpg

And of course, Mickey!
n20305212_33510358_4021.jpg

We were lucky because there was absolutely nobody in line for him. How often does that happen?!?! It turns out we had good timing because shortly after there was a big crowd waiting to meet Mickey.

We did a few of the activities they have in there. Claire and I tried to do one if the singing things which we were not good at. But it was fun. I also did the character painting and I think Dad did another one of the voice things. It was a good time. :) Once we were done, it was time to head out. I always hate leaving the parks for the last time, knowing you're not coming back (atleast for a while). So depressing! We found the bus stop for the AKL and headed back to the resort one final time. :sad1:

up next: Saying good-bye to the World

Yes, sadly it is over. :sad1: I'm so glad that you enjoyed following along with my TR. Hopefully there will be another one in the near future!

I'm so glad you got to ride Toy Story Mania not once but twice!!! :yay:
I know you were really hoping to have the chance!

Looks like a fun last day!

Sad its ending. :sad2:

Yep, we loved it so much we had to go on again. We're actually kicking ourselves for ONLY doing it twice :headache: ...there was hardly any wait at all!

Hello everyone!! I am so bummed that my TR is nearing the end...what am I going to do now?! hehe I thought I'd give you all a little (random) update on my job situation...as of yet I still don't have anything, but I just applied for a couple of positions (one is 4th grade, the other is 5th grade at the same school I interviewed at in May) so if you could cross your fingers for me in hopes that I get called for an interview, I'd really appreciate it. ;) :goodvibes
Now back to the report...this update's going to be pretty boring sadly. :guilty:
Sunday, May 18 cont'd...
When we got back to the hotel, we got some dinner. Dad and Claire went to the Mara to get something. Since I still had some leftover pizza from the Rainforest Cafe I just had that. Dad asked if there was anything I wanted him to bring back...I saw that they had the famous Zebra Domes there so I asked if he could get some of those. All I can say is...YUMMMMM. If you have never tried them before, you must! It's kind of like a mini cake/pudding dessert. We all loved them. After dinner we called home to make sure Mom was going to be picking us up from the airport. I talked to Emma for a while. We had the WDW resort show on, so we kept talking about that. When we were there in January, we watched it so many times and there were certain parts that we would just crack up at. Even over the phone as I was telling her what was on we were in stitches (yes, we are strange ;) ) The rest of our evening was spent packing up our stuff and getting ready to head back home. :sad1:

SUNDAY, MAY 19...Now it's time to say good-bye...
We woke up around 8:00 or so and ate breakfast. Checked the room one last time to make sure we had everything packed up and headed down to the Magical Express bus stop. It's so sad walking through the lobby with your suitcases (and in my case, another bag full of souvenirs) while others are standing around getting ready to visit the parks. While we were waiting for the bus, I took one last picture of the Lodge.

n20305212_33507053_5647.jpg

Our bus came around 9:00. We ended up getting just one of the Mears buses, and not the "official" ME buses. I guess that was a good thing because if I had to watch that video they show I probably would've started crying again like I did on our last trip. We made one stop at Pop Century before heading to the airport. The bus ride was actually fairly entertaining because there was this little boy, probably about 4 years old or so. He was having so much fun playing with his toy Disney bus and kept saying how they didn't get to ride on a bus like his toy. He got so excited when he saw other ME buses and various other things out of the window (like the "Troll Tower" at the airport :teeth:) We arrived at MCO with plenty of time to spare so Claire and I got some lunch while we waited for our flight. The plane coming from Milwaukee was on time so we were on time going back. Pretty uneventful, thankfully! It was quite a shock going from 90-degree weather to 50-degree weather. hehe So, another Disney trip was completed. We had an amazing time as usual and can't wait to return "home!"

I'm going to post my photopass pictures in about 2 seconds...popcorn::

Remembering the Magic...
Alright everyone, as I promised here are our photopass pictures! I think we ended up getting around 90 pictures taken...some of them were really cute while others were not so great. I didn't think the CD was worth it, plus I like to have a few of the prints to frame and such (I scanned them into here which explains why they might look a little streaky). So here you go!

This is my favorite! Go Wildcats. :teeth:

I also mentioned in my PTR how I like to collect the pressed pennies. Well, on this trip I bought a brand-new penny book and got a few pennies to add to my collection. It's always fun to look back at them and remember where and when I got them. :goodvibes

My new Tinkerbell book!

New pennies (sorry it's kind of hard to see the designs):
Splash Mountain, Jungle Cruise, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, and Cowboy Mickey

Native American Chip and Dale, Epcot with Figment, and the Imagination Institute logo

And the couple I got at Sea World.

Love the pics and your new pennies! ohhh another update coming :) Disney in the future?! ....hmmmm does that mean another trip in the works?!

I like your photopass pictures! Thanks to you I knew to look for HSM pics in DHS. My sister was very happy we got pics taken there.

Nice penny collection!

I am thinking maybe I will do pennies this trip.
