I have been debating whether I should post or not.
Although mine and DH's upcoming escape vow renewal is important to us, we are older and our plans are not as exciting as most are here. But I really enjoy reading everyone's plans!
Also, I am not computer savvy as far as sending photos, etc. (wish I could) but finally decided it is another view of things and may be helpful to someone.
DH and I met at business college when we were 33 and were married 2 years later (if you can do the math, we are both now 55
). Although we were both married before, we had to start all over with nothing but love
lol!but we made it and the kids are all gainfully employed and on their own, and we have the house to ourselves!
At our original wedding, I wore a Jessica McClintock tea length dress in white and DH wore a very nice suit---which he still has and fits him! (He is one of those eat anything you want anytime of the day or night people that never gains a pound-----unlike me!) My 2 daughters were my attendants and A friend and my son were DH's.
A guy DH knew volunteered to videotape the service and reception for us to save us money--except he did not show up! I didn't know until I was walking back the aisle that he was not there--DH knew I would be very upset, so he chose not to tell me until after the ceremony. (Remember this is back in 1988 when not that many people carried video cameras) Then, my brother who takes photographs as a hobby, offered to take the wedding photos with his new camera--well before the first photo, his camera fell off the tripod and broke. So we have no video and only a few snapshots of our original wedding.
LESSON: HIRE PROFESSIONALS FOR IMPORTANT OCCASIONS!!! And we went to the Poconos for our honeymoon where it rained every day.
We went to Niagara Falls for our 10th Anniversary and were remarried there in a little chapel. We got a simple video of us standing there saying our vows this time.
Thru the years, DH was not that interested in Disney World---and I have always been crazy about it!
He would come with me, if I couldn't find someone else to go along on my trips, but never was too excited.
Last year, my youngest daughter got married in October, which tied up a lot of the year. Occasionally DH would say "what are we going to do for our
20th anniversary next year?" But I couldn't think about it then until the wedding was over. Then the holidays were here and we were busy again. One day DH said, "How about going to Disney World for our 20th? Wonder if we could get remarried there?" Well he didn't have to ask me twice!
I never knew Disney did a smaller event (Escape Vow Renewal) that would be what we would want to do until I did some research. So we didn't start planning this trip until New Years and it is coming up in May!! LESSON: IF I EVER DO THIS AGAIN, I AM STARTING TO PLAN SOONER!!
I will post our plans so far next post. Thanks for reading!!
