Tuesday August 19th

Sorry i have left such a big gap between reports!!!

Bob from sun ray picked us up bang on time at 9.30am
We said goodbye to POP & headed oss to Universals Royal Pacific Resort, whilst looking at the grey sky!!!.....Fay was forcast to hit today!!

We arrived at RPR & the hotel was stunning - i loved it the moment i set foot through the door! The lobby area was huge with light marble floors & walls & asian wood carvings.
in the centre was a courtyard surrounded by glass walls with a beautiful ornamental pool with elephant statues in the centre :)

Check was empty we were informed the pool was closed due to Fay & we were soon given our room key, we were on the same floor as the lobby in tower 1, our room was at the very end of a corridor & we turned on the video camera as i unlocked the door.....

Yep checking the weather again!

We had a garden view & the beds were soooooooo comfortable!!!

The weather was grey & drizzling but ok so we dumped the cases & caught the boat to Universal,we bought rain ponchos & using our FOTL pass we did shrek 4d, the mummy..several times!!, jaws, MIB & the simpsons ride (twice) which is awesome!! The park was pretty quite for obvious reasons but the FOTL privilage was great & as some days became busier they were a godsend!

We then headed over to Hardrock Cafe for lunch
we started with nachos to share
me - chk creole pasta with spicy sausage - it was ok, followed by apple cobbler with Hagen Das ice cream
DH - beef sandwich & fries - he said it was good
DD - steak & mash & ice scream sunday

We then headed over to IOA..
DH did Dr Dooms Fearfall (DD & I chickened out!)
We all did spiderman - loads!!
bilge barge rats - & we did look loke drowned rats!! but hey it was raining anyway!
dudley do rights - wet again!
jurassic park ride..as we got on it started to throw it down - Fay had arrived!
We walked back to RPR (a lovely walk by the way!) & showered & chilled, then went to explore the hotel.
Finished the evening in Jakes bar then headed to bed...so, so,so comfy beds & the pillows! :cloud9:

DD finally finished her antibiotics today :cool1:
It was weird lying in bed listening to the heavy wind & rain!! but we soon fell alseep!

Hey don't apologise for the delay I appreciate the time you have spent typing it up and posting it for us. I enjoyed reading it.

We have stayed in RPR just before it was refurbished so it is nice to see the new rooms which are considerably brighter than the old ones. I loved staying at RPR, we have stayed at the Hard Rock since then and it is a lovely hotel too with the advantage of being a lot closer to Universal. We are back to RPR in the summer.

The beds in both RPR and Hard Rock are the most comfortable I have ever slept in. I was not looking forward to going back to my own bed after the Hard Rock last year and even tried looking to see who makes them but couldn't find out. If I had the cash I would have one shipped home.:goodvibes

The walk back to RPR is a pleasant one I agree. How did you find Jakeś Bar, we didnt try it last time. Can anyone go in or is it restricted to adults? Did you have anything to eat in there?

FOTL access is a Godsend in the peak times, even in slack times it is handy too. We went back in December and the lines were not that long but it was still an advantage as all the rides were walk ons. Sometimes in peak times you can have a slight wait if there a lot of Express people riding.

What a great day. The hotel looks lovely. For some reason I was not that keen on the Hard Rock Hotel and if we were to stay a few days at Universal I would go for the RPH.

We always share the nachos for our starter at Hard Rock Cafe. It is a tradition!

susan - the nachos are a tradition fo us too :) We visisted HRH & Portofino Bay (as you'll read in the next few TR's!) & i still prefered RPR!!

Thanks to everyone else who stopped by :)

Off to do day 17!

Hotel looks lovely :) I'd love to stay there one day.....

wicket2005 - sorry i didnt answer your question about Jakes Bar my DD was 13 yrs old & there was no problem her being in their - the food was good, staff lovely - a nice place :)

Ahh TS Fay - how could I forget ? ;) I had to get my diary out to see what we were up to that day (we went to Epcot)

Great pics Tracey, RPH looks lovely. It sounds like you had a great day :thumbsup2

Thanks for answering my question Tracy. We are back in July so am looking forward to trying Jaks and Islands, we only tried eating by the pool last time. We popped in, in December to see their Christmas tree and it looked lovely, very golden. They had one on the inside just on the other side of the elephant fountain in the centre and one down the stairs to the pool.

We enjoyed the walk back to the hotel in the summer but when we walked across for a nose in December it felt so quiet that the walk felt a touch spooky.

Ah the 19th August ............ my Birthday ........ where were we? holed up in the Portofino waiting for Fay to pass too !!!!!!!!!

Can't think of a better place to be right now!

Thx for sharing

Sharon
