WDW to Hilton Head?

What’s the easiest way to get to Hilton Head from WDW? I drive a little locally but don’t feel particularly comfortable driving, especially in heavy traffic or unfamiliar surroundings. I looked into Amtrak and flights but it doesn’t seem particularly convenient. I think that we could fly direct to Charleston and then drive down, but Savannah is a lot closer (with a transfer).

I wonder how much a car service would charge? Any other ideas?

Car service would be a very, very expensive charter rate (probably a 12-hour charter; you’d be paying for the driver to get there and back), and maybe also a hotel for the driver.

Easiest way is to fly into SAV. Short drive from there

Looks like no one flies direct though, so either there is a very tight connection (I saw some that were like 30-40 min) or presumably a long layover. I don’t trust airlines with a sub 1 hour connection unless I don’t have to change planes (southwest is like this sometimes).

If non direct flights is a deal killer for you, try flying out of TPA. They have direct flights to SAV

The problem is getting to Savannah in a reasonable amount of time/connections

It may actually be easier to go a different time, unfortunately, as I can fly to Savannah direct from home.

Florida highways/I95 are very intimidating.

Without having to drive - otherwise we would just drive to Hilton Head directly

To be clear I drive locally once-twice a week max and maybe drive on the highway once a year. To/from the airport we would just take a taxi but long stretches of Florida highways in traffic are probably not going to happen.

It's a five hour drive and you'll need you car there anyway so I'd suck it up and drive.

The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that it doesn't make sense for us to try to get from Orlando to Hilton Head until my husband can come with us to drive. Without him, if we still want to do the trip we'll probably just fly from NJ, which is faster than trying to take Amtrak up from Orlando.

It's a shame that there isn't a way to arrange transportation through Disney.

I think it’s more of a standalone vacation destination; I don’t think too many people combine it with WDW trips.
