Disney World to cast for new Pirates of the Caribbean show with Captain Jack Sparrow at Magic Kingdom
The Walt Disney World entertainment department has recently announced that it is seeking improvisational comedic actors who could portray the roles of Captain Jack Sparrow or a fellow pirate in a new character atmosphere show at the the resort's Magic Kingdom theme park.
Captain Jack Sparrow is the lead character portrayed by Johnny Depp in Walt Disney Pictures' hit summer 2003 movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, as well as its sequel, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest, which is scheduled to be released this summer. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies were inspired by the popular Disneyland attraction of the same name.
The most recent casting call from Walt Disney World Entertainment seeks comedic actors with strong improvisational skills for a new high-spirited and humorous show involving audience participation. Captain Jack Sparrow and his assistant, a fellow crew member not from the movie named Mack, will educate audience members in a lighthearted participatory show how to live an exciting pirates life and all about the many secrets of the pirate brotherhood.
According to Disney's casting call, in the new Pirates of the Caribbean show Captain Jack Sparrow and Mack will show the right and wrong ways to manage the sticky situations a pirate may find himself in, with lessons entitled Swashbuckling for Beginners and Run Away FAST!
The upcoming Captain Jack Sparrow show at the Magic Kingdom will likely begin this summer to promote both the new film sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest as well as the attraction at the Magic Kingdom. Another alternative would be it could begin performances as soon as May as a pirate-themed offering while the ride is still closed. Finally, the pirate show could also appear as a small entertainment item for the Pirates and Princesses special event, which is scheduled to occur after normal Magic Kingdom park hours and requires a separate ticket.
The Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom will be closed through the months of May and June as the attraction undergoes a major refurbishment concurrently with Disneylands original version of the famous Disney ride.
The major refurbishment will serve to incorporate new elements inspired by the blockbuster film starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightly, and Geoffrey Rush. The attractions on both coasts will feature an updated storyline and include new audio-animatronics figures of Captain Jack Sparrow and references to other characters from the films.
The new versions of Pirates of the Caribbean will reopen this summer at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom to coincide with the nationwide release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest, the second film in the planned trilogy from Walt Disney Pictures based on the Disneyland ride.
