WDW tickets at DL--an unusual situation--need experts

We're going to DLR this Dec. and WDW next May. I know WDW ticket media may be used (via "exchange") at DLR but what about using a MWY Park Hopper (non-expiring) at DLR FIRST, then using remaining days at WDW. Will this work?

From what I call tell, a 7day non-expiring MYW PH will cost less than a 3-day DLR hopper and a 4day MYW expiring PH.

As far as I have ever heard or know, you have to have used a day on your WDW hopper first. I believe every time I have ever seen it worded, it says leftover WDW hopper days. I don't think it will work which is a bummer!!!
