WDW specialists may be coming to DL ... Help Me!!

My cousin is getting married in the Napa Valley in the middle of July. If we go out to California, we will almost definetly be coming to DL. This is one of my 9 year old daughter's dream ... to visit all of the castles across the world.

We are WDW veterans. We go there 3-4 times a year. When any of our friends or family want to go, they wait so they can go with us so they will get the most out of there trip.

When it comes to California, we have no idea!

So my first questions are How far is DL from the Napa valley time wise, if you are driving, and how far is the Redwood forest from Napa Valley?

Napa to Anaheim is about 430 miles or in L.A. speak 6 1/2 hours without traffic.

Now the Redwoods is another matter. There are natural groves of Coastal Redwood trees along the California coast as far south as Santa Cruz. If you want the Redwood Forest near Crescent City you will travel 5-6 hours to the north increasing your distance from Disneyland. As a SoCal native I have yet to go to the Redwood Forest because it is so far from anything else in Northern California.

There are also Giant Sequoias in California which are a type of Redwood. They are more on your way to Disneyland. We often go to Napa and Yosemite during our trips. If you have never been to Yosemite, I would highly recommend a trip. Incredible landscape and they have a nice grove of Giant Sequoias at the southern entrance.

If you want Coastal Redwoods but not the official forest, try Santa Cruz or several stands near San Francisco. OR, just visit California Adventure and go to the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail where there is a decent grove of coastal Redwoods in their infancy.

Coastal Redwoods are very tall and slender compared to Sequoias which are very tall and massive. The General Sherman in Sequoia National Park is the biggest but the Grizzly Giant in Yosemite is a close second and much easier to get to.

If you enjoy wine, be sure to stay in Napa Valley for a few days. It is beautiful there and the wine is fantastic.
