Hello all. I have stayed at a Disney resort and used ME and resort transportation to go from parks and back. We were hoping to visit Sea World on this trip, but do not have a rental car. Can anyone tell me if its possible to get from the disney resorts to Sea World without one, and how? Thank you for any help and input you can offer!

Last trip my DD and I went to Discovery Cove one day and Sea World another. We were staying at Pop with no rental car. We used a Mears Shuttle for the DC trip and I had made a reservation like the week prior. For Sea World we ended up doing a taxi which if I recall ran me in the range of $25-28 each way.

The Mears Shuttle was at certain times so we didn't like that feeling of being tied to their schedule. The taxi allowed us to leave when we wanted to.

I have read about a Lynx bus (I think that is what it is called) that picks up near DTD and stops over by Sea World which is very cheap to take but I wasn't interested in doing that.

The public Lynx bus number 50 can be ridden from either TTC or DTD to Sea World. The bus runs every 30 minutes 7 days a week. Travel time is 35 minutes from TTC, or 20 minutes from DTD.

Fare is $2 each way; exact fare is required.

I am having the same problem.

I initially had a car rental booked for the day but now it seems like a bigger pain to get the car for the day than to just find some other way.

I am trying to find out if someone might actually drop off a rental car at the hotel.

Without the car it seems to come down to taxis, shuttles , buses.

There is alot out there though.

If you rent from Alamo/National from the CCC, they will pick you up at your resort, and drop you off after you return the car, as long as it is during their normal business hours. The rental location code is ORLR72

Other rental companies located in the DTD hotels also offer this service.

We just did this in October.

We found it easiest just to take a cab. Had researched about the Lynx and thought abot renting a car... just taking a cab was so easy.

We took cab from Beach Club to Seaworld and with tip it was around $30 - I keep thinking $32? no higher than that.
Coming back, we were having dinner at DTD, so the cab to there was with tip $16-$18ish.
cab drops you off right out front Seaworld and there are a number of them waiting there when you leave the park.

I have used the Lynx bus from the TTC to SW before. It is very easy and pleasant. Take your resort bus to MK the day you want to go. Then monorail over to the TTC. The buses depart on the other side of the TTC...get off the monorail and walk towards the parking lot, staying to the left. When you get to the gift shop, on your left, take a left and you'll see the bus area. The Lynx bus is off to the left, maybe the 2nd or 3rd stop. Look for the blue paw print on the bus stop sign. When you board the bus, tell the driver you are going to SW..otherwise they might not stop. Get off the bus, cross the parking lot and you're at the gates. At the end of the day, leave the park, cross the lot, cross the street (not a big deal at all), go to the left and there will be a blue paw print bus stop sign. Wait there for the return bus.

what Goofy4tink said. DB and I did this last year. Had a lovely breakfast at Kona, walked to TTC from the Poly, took the Lynx ($2 each) to SW. On the way back, again Lynx for $2, got off at DTD, had yummy sandwiches at EOS & spent a lovely evening strolling DTD. Easy, breezy, lemon squeezy!!! Oh, and half price pre-purchased SW tickets didn't hurt either!!

Where abouts at DTD is the Lynx bus?

The issue with using DTD is that it may be hard to get a bus to DTD that early from a resort.

I'm staying at POFQ so I figured on using the boat to DTD. Is the Lynx bus near the Disney busses, or is it across the street somewhere?

The Downtown Disney Lynx bus stop is located at the otherwise unused (by Disney transportation) West Side bus facility, found at the extreme west end of Downtown Disney behind Cirque. You can take a Disney bus to the Pleasure Island bus stop, or the boat, then walk through to the West Side bus stop to board Lynx.

You can also catch the same Lynx bus from the Transportation & Ticket Center, which is often more convenient. Take a bus to the Magic Kingdom, then monorail or ferryboat over to the TTC.

the boat to DTD doesn't begin to run until 11 am. But, as to where they stop, we were left off on the corner of Hotel Plaza, right across the street from the Marketplace.

There is a stop over there, but there would be no shelter or anyplace to sit - just the sidewalk on the side of the road.

As already noted, the boats don't start running between POR/POFQ until late morning....basically not much need for them before that. Besides, the boat docks drop you a long walk to the Lynx bus stop area. The bus stops are evern further if you get off at the Marketplace. If you get off at the Pleasure Island stop, it's about half the distance.
Really, it's much better, early in the day, to take the Lynx bus from the TTC. So much easier to get to.
