***WDW Resort Refurbishment Project List/Tracker***

Going to give this a try and see if it makes sense to maintain a consolidated WDW resort construction/refurbishment list here on the Resorts Board.

There are several online resources for refurbishment lists (including the DIS Refurbishment list here) but many are mixed with theme park refurbishments or are updated infrequently. Nothing beats the collective experience of all of us who see new info on the website, news reports, and live reports from things happening on the ground.

So let's give it a try. If you see new info out there, please post! Thoughts/comments/questions, please ask away. Thanks!

Note that this list is focused on Disney resort hotels (which of course sometimes applies to DVC/Villa properties as well). For the moment it does not include DVC-only properties, will probably go back and adjust this at some point.

• January 2022 through April 2022, the Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, Guests staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village may enjoy the Uzima Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House.

• 2/16/2021 - the Stormalong Bay waterslide will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, Stormalong Bay and the other 3 pools at Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort will remain open. Before long, the Stormalong Bay waterslide will be back with its treasured 230-foot-long plunge that begins on the mast of a pirate shipwreck. UPDATE - the slide reopened on/around 2/20/2021

Contemporary Resort

Current Projects

• Starting in April 2021, Disney's Contemporary Resort will begin a refurbishment to reimagine Guest rooms. While some Main Tower rooms will be unavailable during the refurbishment, most resort areas and amenities will still be available for Guests to enjoy.
• Garden Wing rooms will be renovated late Fall 2021 through early winter 2022 (dates not announced by Disney, they are based on website availability)
• From January 9, 2023 through early April 2023, the Feature Pool and whirlpool spas will be closed for refurbishment. The water play area and Bay Lake Pool will remain open for your enjoyment. You may see and hear construction noise while this refurbishment is underway, but you should not hear noise from Guest rooms between dusk and 9:00 AM. We apologize for any inconvenience.

• Renovated Tower rooms opened late September 2021 (a few lower floors trailed into October 2021)

Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Current / Pending Projects

• Kids splash area closed 2/21/2022 through 2/28/2022 for refurbishment. Announced 2/14/2022.
• Announced May 2021: Big Pine Key will be converted to 200 DVC studio villas to be complete in 2022. The exact timing of construction is currently unknown.

• February 2021 through March 2021 (note: Disney later updated the timing to mid April 2021) - Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area will be closed while it undergoes refurbishment [UPDATE, Kiki Tikis reopened approximately 4/13/2021]

• Fall 2021 - DVC-side soft goods refurbishment complete.

Fort Wilderness Resort

• Guests planning on staying at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in 2023 should keep in mind that The Meadow Swimmin’ Pool (including the whirlpool spa and waterslide) will be unavailable beginning January 9 through early April 2023. As an alternative, Guests may enjoy the Wilderness Swimmin’ pool. During that time, Guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from cabins and campsites between dusk and 9 a.m. Additionally, the snack bar and fort-themed water play area will remain open for Guests to enjoy.

While this work takes place, other exhilarating pool and recreation offerings will remain open for your enjoyment – including Flippin’ Fins Pool, Cozy Cone Pool and the Schoolyard Sprayground. During this time, it is possible that Guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9:00 AM.

Saw a report that the Big Blue Pool at AoA has reopened. (Not an April Fools joke, I promise!)

Hours are 10am-11pm

FYI, I noticed Disney changed their website to say the Poly’s Splash Pad closure will be through mid April 2021. It previously said through March 2021.

• Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area will be closed while it undergoes refurbishment from February through mid April 2021. While Kiki Tikis is unavailable, Guests at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows may enjoy the Lava feature pool and slide and the Oasis pool.
