WDW Resort Hotel the night before a cruise booked independently...

I may end up just doing my fall-back of the Hampton Inn & Suites Gateway Orlando Airport, but IF I decided to book the night before my August cruise at a WDW Resort Hotel on my own - not through DCL - and just do transportation from there, would I let them know that when I reserve transportation?

I'm thinking it would be fun and I could do Disney Springs that afternoon/night.

If you don't select the DCL transfers as part of your original booking, you can do it later by calling. When you do your online check in, if you've already added your transfers, it will ask you what your pre cruise plans are, and you select DCL transfers and they'll ask you what resort.

Do a WDW hotel the day before! For us it makes that day seem part of the actual cruise vacation as opposed to just a travel day. Our first cruise on the Fantasy we arrived on Friday and stayed at Yacht Club for the night, it was so nice to walk around the lagoon and get amped up on all things Disney before the cruise. We had a character breakfast the next morning before DCL bus picked us up, it was definitely money well spent!
